I played a score duel match with Razzmatazzmanazz last night. The song was Aqualung, and I even had the lead going into the solo, but then he whooped me with 100% on the solo and I lost by about 20K.
He's probably one of the top 20 or so players |

Good's an understatement... I got all excited when he whiffed on an easy part early on in Aqualung and I was FC until the solo then it all fell apart for me once I missed. He's world class.
I also got a chance to play the drum track on My Hero - that's fun as all hell! (Hard difficulty) |
That's a great thing about the solos in Rock Band. One note can make the hugest difference in final score. Far beyond the normal c-c-c-c-combo breaker and the few thousand you'll lose as you build back up to 4x.

Oh I have another question - can Rock Band 2 re-map the buttons so I can hit both cymbals with my GH:WT drum kit (i.e., re-map the green pad to my orange cymbal)?
|
So I broke my bass pedal this weekend - snapped the pedal right in half. Extended warranty period is over so I'm wondering what kind of DIY fixes you guys have done before. I've seen everything from butter knives as support to metal plates affixed to full on metal pedal replacements.
Any advice on this? |
I think that metal reinforcement plate might be your best idea. I put one on my Rock Band 1 set and it worked really well... I don't know where the thing snapped, but if it snapped high enough the plate could still screw into the plastic pedal remnants.

I've got a question about the dongles for the various instruments. I already have the GHIII LP Guitar, with it's dongle. I am also about to buy the RB2 wireless drums, a wired USB mike, and one more wireless guitar (not sure which brand yet). My question is, how do all of the various dongles work? I have a PS3, which has those 2 front USB ports. I assume the wired USD mike needs to go in one. Will the RB2 drums and both guitars be able to use my GHIII dongle in the other port? Do I need to buy some sort of USB splitter? I was really hoping to avoid that.

I also got the Rock Pedal to replace the shitty (and inexcusable) ION pedal. I think the Rock Pedal is fantastic, I love the amount of different settings you can tweak on the pedal. I also love the huge base this pedal has and how it has big spikes and velcro to ensure it will not move at all on a carpet.

I bought a Rock Pedal, and it's not cheap, but IMO it's worth every penny.

Like I said, it's not cheap, but if you are really into drumming, it is worth the investment. If you just want a pedal that won't break, a full metal replacement is pedal is probably $20 or less.

The Rock Pedal happens to be the same price delivered as an entire Rock Band 2 Drum Set from Amazon.

And like UncleGramps said, if you are into drumming (Hard/Expert) then it is definitely worth it. Hell, I still managed to crack my RB1 pedal even with the steel plate (it cracked at the hinge).
|
After buying the RBII kit I'd say it is worth it as well. I rarely played the drums on the last game because of the noise and overall feel. I'd be good at medium but would struggle on hard. After an hour or so with the new kit I can do most songs on expert (some just barely) and have a lot more fun.

Woo! In for The Killers. One of my favorite bands.

After previewing every song that was released today, I can say this is an absolutely fantastic day for drummers. I can't wait to actually play all of them.
edit: Well, except for the Lacuna Coil songs, they are really, really easy. They were still fun, but that was probably due more to the fact that I like their music. |

I'll be getting everything except for Mica by Mission of Burma and Forever by In This Moment.

I picked up the DK tracks. A lot of fun as expected on guitar, athough the alternating notes that finish off HiC caught me by surprise and I failed my first time through. For some reason, I struggle with processing those where I'd have had less problem if they were chord-single note-chord, etc. DK is one of those bands that I just can't get into listening to them, but the songs are a blast in these games.
I was out of town last week, so I'll add in a late big thumbs up for TC&TS. Not the best of the albums gameplay-wise, but one of my favorites musically and it is a lot of fun. |

The RB1 bundle did. But now 2/3 of the included instruments are wireless so they may have dropped it.
