My guess is an album. Probably one of the 2 we're still expecting, no big surprise.

That'd be great. Either one. Barring that, my XMas wish is for some classic rock. Any songs will do.

I should be able to wrap up the last of vocals tomorrow (logging scores for *ALL* songs I own, RB1 & 2, as well as all my DLC). I'm off for two weeks, so I'm going to spend a lot of time drumming and hopefully ease myself into Expert by the beginning of the year.

GatorDeb 12-19-08 12:14 PM

What I like about GH is that it stars the Quickplay, and RB doesn't, it just logs the score.

This is a known issue that Harmonix is "working on". I've come up with my own stop-gap solution that isn't ideal for everyone, but works for me.

No one knows if stars are coming via a patch, or if it's going to be an online thing (accessed via your Rocker page) or what. It's all up in the air. Hopefully whatever that is will be implemented in the next patch (which should also add Lips mics support!!!).

I might give it a try next week when I'm on vacation.

GatorDeb 12-19-08 12:22 PM

It's amazing the things they can fix by patching. I have that and the following on my wish list:

1. Accuracy meter during the song (starts at 100% and goes down)
2. Song progress meter (XX out of XX notes)

Makes it easier to gauge when your next star is popping up :D

With those three things (and of course the Lips support which I already take for granted), this is the one killer game to own.

BTW Shagrath what is your temp solution?

A spreadsheet. :)

GatorDeb 12-19-08 12:29 PM

Wow.

redbill 12-19-08 12:31 PM

I use RockScores, an Iphone app for score tracking.

That almost made me want to get an iPhone. :) I wish someone would make something like that for Windows Mobile. I'm a little too lazy to do it myself (amongst other work projects I'm on).

If MS ever create a ZunePhone (which I think they're working on), then I could whip something up using C# and XNA pretty damned quick.

Foo Fighters - “DOA”
Foo Fighters - “Times Like These”
Foo Fighters - “This Is A Call”

The Foo Fighters’ tracks will be available for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) each or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the 3-pack.

Mad Dawg 12-19-08 12:46 PM

 I suck at announcements.

Anyway, I never thought we see more Foos so soon, but I'm stoked. DOA is far and away my #1 Foo want. So I can get over the lack of albums and classic rock.

Michael Corvin 12-19-08 12:48 PM

Damn, more Foo? It could be much worse but we just got an entire album.

?

The stars in the top right hand corner have a yellow bar that fills around the star. That is your progress to the next star. See below:

So this person is 3/4 of the way to the fourth star.

Ooooohhhhh TOTALLY missed that. THANKS! :D I'd still like to have those two things. You can never have too many stats! :)

Liver&Onions 12-19-08 12:51 PM

I don't remember DOA, but like the other two songs, so looks like it's a pack for me.

Michael Corvin 12-19-08 12:52 PM

Sorry, if you want stats you'll have to buy one of the Guitar Hero games.

Don't you mean 3rd star?

I caught that also but he took the time to find the screenshot and post it over here, so I was thankful :D

Or do the spreadsheet thing. It isn't too hard if you have a small notebook handy.

Yeah yeah, whatever. Idea's the same. :) Although I still think I'm right. It's not going to show you the fourth star until you actually get it. Then again, is there a single dim star when you start a song? It has to show you some kind of progress before you get your first star. It's been so long since I actually paid attention.

Quick, someone play a song, dammit!

Ditto. Sure wish The Pretender would find it's way to Rock Band.

The circle is the progress to that star. It dings and lights up when you complete the circle and move on to the next.

Yep. In fact, now that'll be their only studio album without a song in RB.

You do start with 1 unshaded star. There's always one unshaded star until you get all 5 stars.

Once you get all stars, if you start sucking horribly, does it take away from you? Or once you earn it you can't lose it?

I can't bear to make myself lose to find out, even on Quickplay :)

Stars are score based, so no you can't lose stars once you reach the score threshold.

Oh, and 5 stars isn't "all" the stars, but I'll leave that for you to discover. Good luck! ;)
