Rock Band 3: Lefty Edition?

I got the cymbals as well and think they're pretty cool. Then again, I'm no lefty, so clearly I was impressed by how the cymbals were designed especially for me. ;)

Anybody download the 20 free tracks? It seems there were a lot of posts about the emails that were supposed to go out, but what about the songs?

Are there any hidden gems in there that are either really good songs or songs that are good to play?

Since they were delayed and came out the day before Gears 2, Rock Band hasn't been touched since then.

Gears, Shmears! Rock Band 2 has been played every day since release!

As for the 20 songs, they were a pleasant surprise. I've played them all on guitar/bass, and most on vocals, and they've been mostly fun. The only one I didn't really care for (on guitar/bass) was the Dealership track. There is no way I would delete the pack just for one or two songs.

Between the Buried and Me, Shaimus, Endeverafter, and Authority Zero are all really great tunes and extremely fun to play. Semi-Precious Weapons was also a huge surprise for me!

Alright, fine... you guys have convinced me, I need to pick this up tonight :D

REL77 11-13-08 11:35 AM

Yes you do Steebo... Yes you do.... The 20 Free songs were actually decent, a couple really fun ones, and a few stinkers, but for free, i was happy.

shumway 11-13-08 02:17 PM

I hope tomorrow they announce the No Doubt pack for next week.

xmiyux 11-13-08 02:26 PM

*fingers crossed for Janes Addiction*

I'm tempted to sell my code...

 You mock but but it took 18 hours to get the last 4 posts in this thread which is highly unusual. Clearly something is up. You might have to change your thread title. At this rate, this one could go six-eight weeks. Rock Band: Official Thread of "hello, is anyone not playing Gears of War?"

Hello!

But I'm not playing RB solely any more either. I predict within 22 hours this thread will be plenty busy again.

For me it's more LBP than Gears 2, but your point is still valid. Rock Band is more of a "fill in the gaps" game for me. I love it, but with all of the new games coming out, it takes a lower priority. I did play a bit on Tuesday morning, trying out the Foo Fighters album, but I might go a few days without playing it here and there. That said, I'll still be playing it consistently until Rock Band 3 is out. :D

I'm sure the thread will revive when tomorrow's announcement is made. I'm hoping for some surprises. If they do go with another album, I hope they also throw in an unrelated single or two.

You're assuming this site won't still be down for the "half hour" maintenance.

REL77 11-13-08 02:57 PM

Come on No DOubt pack.... Dont really care for the Janes or Stevie R Vaughn album, and the no doubt is a 100% purchase for me

I'm trying to see if they'll just let me keep one thread open. It seems the guidelines for closing a thread are not set in stone, and is mainly there to keep people from asking the same question over and over, due to not wanting to catch-up on a thread.

If the OP has all the necessary information (which this one certainly has a lot of), then I don't see the issue. I'll have to put some more work into things and ask some more questions, but hopefully we can just keep one thread going at some point in the future.

I haven't played Gears 2 yet, but I did play my first game besides Rock Band for the first time on Sunday (Scene It!: Box Office Smash), and since then I've been spreading my gaming time between RB2 and others (Banjo). So my normal work day is play a couple of hours of Banjo, and then an hour or two of RB2 before work. Off-days are pretty much the same, except the number of hours for both increase.

It's server load.

pinata242 11-13-08 03:36 PM

Is there anyway to split the difference? Give Shag his own sticky thread for the content or maybe host that information off-site and just link to it in his sig?

I see no need for him to place this burden on himself.

I mean, there is lots of good info in those posts, but really I'm sure it isn't used as much as you think nor is it exclusive to this site. Stuff like the band list is cool but, in my experience doing similar community efforts, it dies and no one cares anymore.

How does more pages affect server load? You are still only viewing a maximum of 40 messages at a time regardless. That doesn't seem to make any sense to me. How is one thread with 2000 replies any different from 10 threads with 200 replies each?

no fucking clue. I just do as I am told.

I'd prefer to not have to do anything, myself.

Damn, one of life's eternal mysteries continues to go unanswered. :(

Is there an expiration date on the redemption code? I want to try and get more familiar with all the songs on the disc before I start diving into DLC.

No expiration that I'm aware of. What I would suggest would be to go ahead and get the code and download them (just in case). Then you can just go delete them off your HDD until you're ready to play them. When you're at that point, go into your Download History under Account Management and you can redownload any item you've previously DL'd at no charge (except for Movie Rentals, I would imagine).

shumway 11-13-08 08:10 PM

^^I think he is playing on PS3, in which case he can't selectively delete DLC.
