I guess I am out of the loop but I wanted to get the rock band 2 drum set to replace my old drum set for 360... but no one is selling it...

Is this the hot new toy - or are they not realy out yet?

shumway 12-03-08 08:21 PM

They've definitely been out standalone. I bought mine the 1st week they were out when Best Buy had a special extra $10 off with purchase. There was also a handy coupon out that still applied as well.

argh923 12-04-08 01:19 AM

Yeah, got mine the first day it was out at Gamestop. I see it at Walmart & Best Buy all the time.

Just got my triple cymbal expansion pack for the set yesterday.

flashburn 12-04-08 08:14 AM

Apparently 5 Country songs will be released on December 16th. Hopefully they have some other stuff to balance it out.

http://blog.cmt.com/2008-12-03/rock-...about-country/

To those narrow-minded haters, I say just wait until Dec 16. That’s when Rock Band will add five country songs to its downloadable content for PlayStation3 and XBOX 360. If you have PS2, you are out of luck because you won’t have access to the online store. I’ll be the first to admit that some country artists would not make sense for Rock Band, like Alan Jackson, Jewel or Faith Hill. But this bundle’s going to have Bentley, plus Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert and the Dixie Chicks. All pretty hard-rocking country types.
If anything this should just bring even more people into trying out Rock Band.

Shagrath 12-04-08 08:17 AM

I'm sure there will be more than 5 songs released.

I'll have to check these out though. I'm not much for country music, but I'll keep an open mind.

pinata242 12-04-08 08:19 AM

Sounds good to me. Not my cuppa, but my wife really likes The Dixie Chicks. I wouldn't mind some Rascall Flatts or Garth.

From what I understand, Paisley ain't no pansy on guitar skills neither.

flashburn 12-04-08 08:27 AM

I'd love for some Johnny Cash. Sure most of it wouldn't be very technically challenging (especially on drums), but it would be fun to play at least.

I also don't care for Country at all, but I'll at least give it a listen before writing it off. Especially with how Rock influenced some Country is today.

pinata242 12-04-08 08:38 AM

That CMT article actually mentions a song, though it doesn't say whether or not it'll be the song released by Bentley. But, just for reference:

Dierks Bentley - Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)

It also makes mention that Bentley is a "Rock Band aficionado" himself and he'll be talking about the idea of Country Music in Rock Band on the Top 20 countdown tomorrow.

Same here. I won't be getting any unless my wife is dying to sing one of them.

lordwow 12-04-08 08:48 AM

I'm not a country fan but I'm glad they're bringing in more genres. I would love some more southern rock though.

mdc3000 12-04-08 09:21 AM

I'll probably sit the country tracks out...unless the Dixie Chicks one is 'Not Ready To Make Nice', then I'll be all over it.

Mad Dawg 12-04-08 10:20 AM

Country could go great, or it could be rough. I like a lot of the music. I am a tad disappointed to hear that they pretty much went new school only, but it's not too surprising.

The Dixie Chicks 4th CD is probably what they are going to pull from, and I think it's the worst of the bunch (believe what you will about the content, but it doesn't get more bland and cookie cutter music-wise than "Not Ready to Make Nice"). Home is one of the best country CDs I've ever heard, but it's not really made to fit the game. Wide Open Spaces and Fly have most of their biggest hits, and I'd be happy with any of those.

Brad Paisley is a great guitarist, but he has one or two cringe-worthy hits ("Online" is just embarassing). I fear that they went "Boot Scootin' Boogie" with Brooks and Dunn, which is a song to murder oneself by even if you love country. I'm not familiar enough with Miranda Lambert or Dierks Bentley to know what would fit and what wouldn't.

I assumed Keith Urban would show up in a country week, because he's mainstream enough, and tears up a guitar.

From HMXHenry:

Country DLC is definitely coming. The release date and artists listed in the CMT blog are correct, and we'll have more information about track selections and pricing shortly.

Cool. Hopefully we can get a definition on "shortly" soon.

Next Thursday/Friday? :)

They've yet to put out the 13/14 tracks for the No Doubt pack as well.

pinata242 12-04-08 10:37 AM

I hear that. Has an HMX employee actually confirmed that No Doubt is coming on the 9th yet, though?

pinata242 12-04-08 10:39 AM

Completely off topic, but Dog Eat Dog by Weird Al just came up on my iPod and we really need some Talking Heads in Rock Band.

Continue.

Actually, I don't believe they have. I'm not completely certain on that though. I don't hit the RB forums very often (just around DLC announcements).

Yeah, Psycho Killer is in my top 10 for on-disc songs. I'd love to have more.

Not for drumming... man, that's a yawner.

Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but I miss a ton of notes because I just get bored and stop following the chart closely.

steebo777 12-04-08 11:24 AM

Dear Harmonix:

Please do not release any Country music on Rock Band. It will taint the brand forever. Anything other than Country will be fine. I can't imagine playing AC/DC and then Country.

Sincerely,
I hate Country wish a passion

GoVegan 12-04-08 11:28 AM

And nobody will force you to. I'm no country fan, but I'm all for expanding the available genres in Rock Band. (Though I'll certainly be eating my words first time someone's over and says "Hey, can we download that Brooks and Dunn song?")

How is it? You may have dictated my noon hour plans.

Then STFU and don't fucking buy it then! Problem solved.
