Yup, we're just like The Borg Collective here. One mind, exact same interests...

I actually enjoy the slow pace of places like this, augmented with the major news sites and blogs to give me all the content I need.

Not really...maybe 70% or so, but I usually am not that active in trying to get them. The one I'm proudest of is the "creator hearted by 30, level hearted by 50" one. With Little LOST, I'm way beyond those numbers now, but at the time, it was pretty cool.

The ones I need to try to get are the MGS ones...but I spend too much time in create mode to get to it.

 if you put it that way...

yes, slow pace describe this forum perfectly. As for major news and stuffs, this forum has them as well, just a bit slower than the other place. However, if you need help on a particular area not in the major interest, you're out of luck (e.g. how to get the xxx hidden trophy in PJM). The thing i hate most here is that, the forum is reluctant to changes, doesn't embrace new stuffs well. I understand the mentality that if i spent xxx money on this thing and it's doing what i need, why the hell i want to spend yyy for something like that? It's common defensive tactic, everybody has that. But it's very rare to see people talk about things in the reverse manner (in positive ways), like if i spend yyy money on this thing, i actually getting blah blah blah, not all that bad. Don't get me wrong, the discussions are all good, but the pace is just too slow... When i said, this forum didn't change much since i "left" i really mean that.

Well, if that makes sense to you, I can't argue.

You truly deserve that satisfaction :) and 70% in LBP? That's very impressive (well, almost twice my accomplishment). Sounds like there's a CAG party tonight for people need 4X helps, i'm in...

The stuffs that go on here are more deliberate and less hectic than stuffs at other place.

here's a trick to save taxes on PSN games:

The PSN cards should not be taxed, so a $20 card is $20, if the store charges you tax on that, most likely you're tax exempted on PSN, but even then you can still use the tax trick by buying the PSN card from a state don't charge you taxes...

If you don't want to attach CC info to your PSN account, use PSN cards for funds, unless you're getting reward points for your CC purchases (but even then, it's still the same by buying the PSN card with your CC).

If you're paying taxes on the PSN checkout page, don't complete the purchase just yet. Go to the account management page, change your mailing address' zip and state to one that exempt from tax (e.g. Miami, FL). There's no validation there, so don't worry about the funky address (maybe the zip needs to be right).

Those little tax cents add up over time, which you can spend to buy little things like costume add-on and such...

Of course, when you do your taxes (it's March people!) you have the "liberty" to report them.

Congrats. I really appreciate the way the PS3 handles multimedia.

What network drive did you end up with? How does it work compared to attaching a USB harddrive directly to the PS3? (other than being able to keep the drive separate).

I picked up the Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, 1TB, which at the time was on sale at Fry's for around $150. A bit more expensive than a regular 1TB external drive, but it's basically plug and play and doubles as a wireless print server (though I haven't tried that out yet).

Couldn't get the crappy PC software to work, but I manually mounted the drive (you have to mount each created folder separately) and dragged and dropped media in there. Both 360 and PS3 picked it up with no problem.

Of course, because it's streaming, you can't just fast forward seamlessly, and really large bitrate files may drag unless you copy locally. You don't have to set up the Sony file structure like you do on a usb drive, though, and of course the convenience is in not having to drag the drive back and forth when you want to play something you downloaded on your pc.

I haven't upgraded my laptop in many, many years, so I didn't want to use that as a media server, and didn't want to upgrade just yet, so it serves my needs just fine.

Somehow committing fraud to save sixty or so cents here and there doesn't sound like a decent plan.

Or just actually move to Miami, FL. That was my brilliant plan all along.

Well, I received my packages yesterday to send my PS3 in for repair. One was the box "coffin" to send the system in and the other was a label that weighs sixteen pounds. :(

Dang, was the label shipped in a 15.9lb box?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - October 08 edition

I thought the PS3 is 11 pounds? Did they provide you with 5 pounds of padding in the shipping box, or were they just being conservative with the weight estimate? Or am I just wrong about the weight of the PS3?

Deb?

You said it was bait. The only way that could be any clearer that it was trolling was if you added the word troll to your bait comment.

Forget this slow forum... I'm going where the posts are numerous, and where you can get all kinds of "news." Where people don't all think alike... in fact, they argue over every little thing. Gamefaqs forums, here I come...

Final verdict:

DVD Talk's Video Games Forum gets 1 stuffs out of a possible 5 stuffs. The VG Forum just doesn't seem to know what its stuffs can do. If it had a Trophy Level, that Trophy Level would be zero. BOOOO.
