Another use for an external HDD is to back up the PS3 HDD's contents. This is the only way to back up copy-protected saves such as those for Rock Band and Motorstorm 2 (though you're still SOL if you ever get/need a new system, since the backup will only restore to the same PS3).

Also, a portable HDD may be able to be used as an internal drive after it's removed from its enclosure.

Can any PS3 owners who also have this recommend it for $100?

This one should have come with caveman/cavewoman outfits for at least a couple of the characters and a set of clubs made out of dinosaur bones or something.

Picked it up last night, played a couple of rounds. Looking forward to playing it more over the weekend. Some good holes in it. the lava is cool..

Is that the HRAP3? Looks like the one I have, I like it a lot. Of course, I suck at fighting games anyway, but it's pretty highly praised... have no idea how it compares to the new TE madcatz street fighter stick, which is a little more, but I'm sure it's better than the cheaper madcatz one (which seems to have some kind of defect.

It's the primary reason I picked up Soul Calibur and Street Fighter IV for the PS3 instead of the 360.

You can try to read through the CAG stick thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=192322

Dreamgear also makes the Warbeast guitar controller for the PS3 which looks really cool. I'm not sure how solid it is though. Anyone have any experience with Dreamgear products?

I wonder what Ben Heck charges for these?

for all you girls out there that don't enjoy the greatness that is the Dualshock controller

You know the final stage of Savage Moon isn't tough enough when you beat it on your first attempt.

Sarcasm, I hope?

It's an adapter. It should be $15-$20 on the high side. The feedback on that article is nothing short of fantastic. Then again, it seems to be par for the course lately.

Some choice responses:
My hand cramps so damn bad when i play my friend's 360. 360 controllers blow!!!! The left stick always feels out of place,
The 360 controller sucks. It's bulky, the left stick is badly placed, and the buttons are unresponsive
dont know why i would use the 360 controller for my ps3 its way to big for it to be comfortable
i reakon the xbox contoller is shit its not comfy and too bulky.
Never been a huge fan of the Xbox controller. I feel like I could conduct real life brain surgery with a Dualshock.
It's like these people haven't touched a controller other than a DS for a decade. Pretty sad. The Xbox S pad and the Wavebird both beat the DS, IMO, and that was a generation ago.

Guess I'm doing something wrong... I haven't played it in awhile but I remember getting stuck on the 5th or 6th level. I haven't found a good way to deal w/ the "spitters" yet (the ground bugs w/ the ranged attack).

I must have played that level about 20 times! I think I finally got through it with mines and mortars. Well placed mortars (behind a cliff, for example) can't be hit by them and, if you update enough, they do plenty of damage.

Another thing I've found to be helpful is putting two repair towers within range of each other. The bugs can't attack quick enough before repairs are done.

And: later stages I started putting towers on the ground. They're more likely to be directly attacked, but there isn't enough high ground to get what you need in those places.

Of course, the flying "attackers" later are a whole different kind of pain.

Howdy, just got my PS3 this weekend, and one of the first things I did was poke around for media streamers from my Mac to the PS3. I have taken a look at MediaLink but also at a product called Rivet, which apparently has just added PS3-support to its existing XBox 360 support. I've just tried the demo so far, but thus far it's working pretty well - about the only minus I've seen is it doesn't currently send over the cover art to the PS3, although their support forums claim that is planned.

Anybody else taken a look at this?

MP3 question: If I connect an external hard drive with all of my music to my PS3, can I use that for in-game music? Or does in-game music have to come from the internal HD?

That might be on a per-game basis, but none of my games allow me to play music from my external drive.

I have no idea if they were worth it, but on my lunch break I stopped by Circuit City and got Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia for the PS3 for $30 each.

They're short games, but together for $60, they're definitely worth picking up.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - October 08 edition

Cool, reviews look solid, so hopefully I'll enjoy them.

Also, for what it's worth, they were behind the customer service counter - not with the rest of the games and DVDs and stuff. I almost walked out of the store without even noticing them back there.

Picked up a Nyko remote at CC today for $9.99. They still had quite a few (at least 20)left. My store had a sign that read final 9 days. They also had a good number of GH:World Tour Guitar and game only for $50 and GH:III Guitar and Game only for $35. Guitar only was $20.

So I’m a little behind on the TV show LOST and want to watch previous episodes on my PS3. It doesn’t seem to work with Hulu or ABC, are they any other sites that stream it?

Streaming? No
The only other legal way may be getting them from itunes, you have to pay, and then somehow stream it from your pc to the ps3. And no, I don't know if there's a program to do that.
Aren't they in Xbox Live?

Does PlayOn still work with Hulu? i think that's how most people are streaming stuff from hulu although I haven't tried it.
