Chainsawing is the mild part imo. You also curb stomp heads (smashing them like a melon), smash the heads of the downed enemy with the butt of a sniper rifle, and do the MMA ground-and-pound. Gears of War was easily the most violent game i had ever played in a good long time.

I'm sitting here at work, and all I can think about is a good curb-stomp. 5pm can't come quick enough.

I can't wait to try out the horde mode...anyone else up for this? I mentioned it to my fellow DHG bros...I think we should check that out tonight at some point.

I went to TRU and traded Saint's Row 2 (from the B2G1 free deal last month) in for Gears 2, and I got a $15 gift card along with the game. I don't know if that's been advertised or not...I was pleasantly surprised.

But after watching the X Play preview, this game looks over-the-top gory and bloody - far worse than Call of Duty, Halo, etc..

Is the M rating pretty much for the violence and gore, or are there other themes in the game that give it the M rating?

BTW - I told him no - it's way too violent, but I'd like some other opinions since we don't have GoW1 and only judging GoW2 from the previews.
I might be a bad parent, but my 7 year old son is done with kiddie games and plays both Halo and Gears of War. He has reminded me for the last two months that GOW2 is out today, and I just got back from Best Buy. They did not have the toy tank available (memo claims they were stuck in Customs), but that they should be around in the next day or so for pickup. I got a raincheck for it.

I forgot my receipt so I wasn't able to be there at 10 am. It sucks because Best Buy is across my office.

But I'm going home after lunch and coming back for the game

Except maybe Gamestop who only orders enough product to cover their pre-orders.

Granted it is only act I, but I think it does feel a bit easier. The first Gears only had three settings, right? (Casual, Hardcore & Insane) This one adds a Normal between Casual & Hardcore. I definitely would at least try Normal.

My BB price matched the Circuit City 1600 pt. card deal, but not with the RC tank. One or the other, not both. Needless to say 1600 pts are a tad more valuable than a worthless RC car.

I don't think it was an advertised special. This is the first I heard about it.

it's in their weekly circular. i'd say that's pretty "advertised."

i'm going over there to see if i can get them to honor the deal.

My sentiments exactly. Apparently, the tanks aren't even in at my BB...so it's 1600pts for me.

Also, the tanks will be on clearance in like 30 days anyways.

Odd. The CC I went to didn't have any 1600pt cards in, so they charged me only $47.30 (incl tax) for the game taking the cost of the 1600pt card out. Said they'd have to order the card and they'd call me when it gets in.

stupid best buy. wouldn't match the TRU deal. I may just keep the TRU copies, buy it from Costco (only $51.99 there and I have gift cards) then return those to TRU when they come in.

I hate when i hear shit like this - it's a corporate memo. Tell them to look it up. bastards.

And CC being out of cards...wow, who saw that coming? They pull shit like that all the time, which prompted me to stop shopping there completely. Mysteriously, as soon as the promotion expires, the shelf will be fully stocked with points cards. guaranteed.

This just came to my house. Can't wait to put it in tonight. I might just try Horde mode before I do anything else!

My local CC was out of point cards so he said they could order a card and have it shipped from their warehouse to my home free of charge.

Then he checked the warehouse and there were none in the warehouse.

So he gave me a 20$ gift card with my game which seemed like a pretty decent deal to me.

The multiplayer is a blast so far and I haven't run into any glitchers yet. Horde mode is also pretty cool. I got to level 17 with my group before we decided to move to multiplayer. The only problem that I have noticed with multiplayer is that you have to have a full group to find a game really quickly. Otherwise you'll have to wait a bit.

As for the campaign, I find it rather underwhelming so far. Everything feels rushed and kind of bland. So far, I think the first Gears had a much better campaign. With that said, this game is well worth a purchase for the multiplayer alone. There is so much there to keep you busy for a long time.
