I'm still waiting on Roboblitz to drop below $12.

I've been a sucker for those PSN sales. Most of the games I bought were on sale. The PSN store does have less, but I have liked the quality and the promotions. To be fair though you can make your own sales on the Wii store and Xbox Marketplace by scoring a deal on the points cards. Happens from time to time.

Ill try to put this gently. I DO have a PS3 as well as a 360 but as I said before I favor the 360 much more for gaming.

Sony has kind of gotten an image of snobbery with the PS3. An attitude that seems shared with the user community online. Now all systems have their share of stupid immature fanboys, but it seems PS3 has an extra dose of nasty ones.

Some Sony quotes that might alienate users:

So the 360 gets exclusive DLC for Tomb Raider and for GTAIV while the PS3 is getting exclusive DLC for Mirror's Edge.

Is MS just throwing large amounts of money to these developers to get the exclusive add-ons? I'm very much looking forward to Mirror's Edge but it doesn't have the name recognition Tomb Raider or GTA have... so is Sony not writing checks to get exclusive DLC?

Do you guys think this will be the future? No 3rd party exclusive titles... instead it will be exclusive DLC?

I was going to find quotes by Sony execs I disagreed with and found a lot strange ones. Then I realized I had looked for "Karzai" instead of "Kaz Hirai"...

Well look at the quotes above, they've gotten better but I think there was one recently about not needing exclusives. So they clearly aren't courting it which gives MS free reign to come in and woo developers, moneyhat or not(helped Harmonix with programming).

The best thing Sony ever did was get the father of the Playstaton as far away as possible. He was beyond delusional and his quotes about the PS3 showed just how out of touch he was toward the end of his time in charge.

The new guy they have been using at E3 isn't slick by any means, but at least he comes across as somewhat honest and down to earth. I think he has helped a bit with turning around the bad Sony PR.

There are corporations out there that tend to alienate the core users. MS is guilty of that too and people dont ask why MS is 'hated'. PS3 just really blew it this generation and their attitude was consistently 'its not us, its you'.

Every coroporation is clueless sometimes. Some more than others, but the lengths Sony went to deny any mistakes became legendary. The reason why there are so many funny quote lists on the subject out there.

They did fire (or laterally promote) one of the head PS3 guys, so perhaps they are humbling out and changing for the better. I believe they are.

If you consider late 20s and 30s gamers to be Nintendo's traditionally core audience, they've done a lot in the last few years to alienate them as well. I welcome market expansion, but it should never be at the expense of your devotees.

Agree. I'm happy for the mainstream success, but I wish they would do more to keep the 30 year olds that have been with them since the 80s a little happy. On the Wii software front there hasn't been a lot to look forward to, but at least Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana are recent releases so that is something. They are at least starting to show some effort on VC.

You have a point. However, the lack of ethernet port on the Wii probably has more to do with the console's compact size than a desire to extort $25 out of non-wireless enabled users. Also, I'd argue the 360 relies much more on its online capabilities than the Wii.

With the 360, you get the feeling everything is a la carte.

I still don't know why people bother paying $100 for the 360's adapter. It's not like that is the only thing that will let you go online.

It's the same thing like people not knowing you can change the batteries in a PS3 controller.

Your average person doesn't know any better. Hell, had i wanted to go wireless i would have assumed i needed to buy the 360 adapter since everything else on the 360 is proprietary.

Granted i would have asked on here and someone would have enlightened me but your average consumer doesn't do that.

I wired it, and I know you can set it up wirelessly without paying for their adaptor, but I don't know what people are referring to about bridging it. I just didn't want to figure it out. I just moved my cable modem next to my TV, and I only have a laptop so I didn't need to buy anything else.

On the wireless front I did want to mention that the old Xbox wireless adapter works fine with the 360. Someone I ran into didn't know that and basically gave me the old Xbox one and then spent the $100 on the 360 one. I'm not complaining because it got my Xbox wireless for free, but they could have saved money on that one if they had checked first.

I think the old one doesn't support WPA encryption though.

Well I bought an XBOX 360 (60GB), so thanks everyone for the advice. When it came down to it, the XBOX was the way to go. I am enjoying it, love the controller and NBA2K9 which I bought. I'll get Guitar Hero 4 and GTA4 soon.

How do I load MP3/music on my hard drive? I'd love to play games while listening to my own MP3s...is it possible to play music and also have the background sound effects while playing a game?

Put in a CD. Choose rip to HDD.

Yes it will play during a game and still give you the background sound effects.

I think we all like the differenct consoles, but they all have their shortcomings and it can be hard to narrow down what works for every individual. That is why these threads can go all over the map, but it was a very civil discussion and it is interesting to go over some of it.

The important thing is you found the console right for you and I can guarantee you will enjoy the 360. Solid thread for that reason alone.

It's also been a nice thread for general discussion of PS3 vs. 360. I'm really interested to see how the exclusivity on the DLC front will shake out.

I also would love to see Live take on some of the PSN features.
