Oh yeah, I remember reading that.

Porieux, how are the notes mapped? Do the colors match on screen or the positioning? i.e. the cymbol is Orange on the kit, does that now play bass, or does the pedal? Then the other pads appear to be Yellow, Red, Blue, Green left to right which would be wrong on screen(R,Y,B,G). How does that work?

Those are pretty much my questions. I knew they were supposed to work somehow but no details emerged.

They had said when RB drums were plugged into GH4 it would just use the software to strip down the note charts. I assumed it would also re-order the colors which the video did affirm.

So now i want to make sure RB2 will re-order the colors for the GH drum kit.

I don't see how unless there is a software update down the line. Neversoft had access to the RB1 kit to make software integration work. Harmonix is flying blind without a drum kit to program with. Or maybe they can reprogram based on pictures and will have an update on GH:WT's release day.

That is what i thought and that is my concern. Personally it would have been smart for Neversoft to give them a kit to make sure it would do that... especially since the RB kits have such a shoddy build quality compared to the GH stuff (at least on the guitar front... we will see on the drum front soon).

Is that really better or worse? Its just different I think.

If I'm playing on a team and someone burns up the team's "power up" and I have no say so or there was no asking if its ok to use it now then I'd be a little ticked. In GH some people want to burn thru the power up before the rock meter is back up to 4x or just use it whenever and often in dead spaces of songs. If members have to agree then we can make sure that the rock meter is back to full strength before it gets wasted.

Community Countdown Day 14: New Guitar Controller

Community Countdown Day 14: New Guitar Controller - Lets tie all the new Guitar Controller talk into Day 14! Increased accuracy with more responsive dual colored- fret buttons, elongated strum bar, dedicated star power button, removable faceplate, improved battery life, and much more!
http://adams.aghq.net/~chris/gh3/val/controller.jpg
Yeah, yeah... new controller ... "magic" buttons ...yadda...yadda. Get on with it already!

At this point Id rather them reveal how they designed and produced the cardboard box the guitar will be packed in. It'd be much more interesting.

Anyone else ever play along to a youtube video???

 yeah. But I air guitar along with the video sans Les Paul.

Activision Collaborates With Logitech to Develop Premium Instruments for Guitar Hero World Tour
Santa Monica, Calif and FREMONT, Calif. — July 31, 2008 — Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVID) and Logitech International (SWX: LOGN) (Nasdaq: LOGI) today announced a collaboration to develop and market premium instrument controllers for Guitar Hero® World Tour, the latest installment of the world’s best-selling music-based video game franchise, which ships this fall for the Xbox 360™ video game system from Microsoft, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Nintendo Wii™.

Logitech plans to offer premium instruments for each of these platforms, the first of which will be available later this year. Logitech’s products will be compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour’s advanced feature set, allowing players to elevate their Guitar Hero® jam sessions to full-fledged rock concerts.
Anyone seen anything more on this? Are they talking only about the mic or they planning to sell guitars also?

I still don't understand how this touch bar on the guitar is supposed to work.

Nah, if my singer or drummer is messing up, I like being able to kick into OD to draw attention to my awesome fretwork.

There are arguments both ways "team" vs "individuals as team". I prefer RB's to what I experienced in GH2 & GH3.

Kelkee 10-14-08 11:47 AM

So you in RB you can "steal" the power up and the others are just left to fail out?

No, you have to remember you're a band - working as a team - to entertain the audience.

You only risk failing out if 1 or more band members fail out and no one can save them before the crowd has enough and kicks you off stage.

OD is used one of two ways (for crowd purposes - I'm ignoring scoring here):

1) Deploy and expend 50% of the total bar to bring someone back from a failed state.

2) Deploy while no one is failed and everyone benefits from your OD by increasing the crowd meter faster - this way you can bring someone from yellow or red back to green quickly.

It's the 2nd one I was describing. If I see you sucking, I kick into OD and you imagine the crowd ignoring the person doing poorly to watch you kick up the antics or whatever OD simulates. That is individuals working as a band.

No.

In RB each player has their own power-up meter. However, if i activate my overdrive doing vocals and my wife isn't doing well on drums my active overdrive will boost her away from failing out.

Kelkee 10-14-08 12:16 PM

Ah ok now I get it. What happens if you all overdrive at the same time?

These buttons work the same as the small buttons on the RB guitar. When using these buttons you do not need to strum.

Each person adds a 2x to the overall band multiplier. So if everyone uses at the same time, everyone's score is x8, and this doesn't include their individual multiplier. Therefore bass (which can go up to a 6x) really gets a 48x during this time.

Each player can have an individual 4x multiplier for keeping up their own streaks (6x for bass players).

On top of that, for each OD actively deployed there's a 2x band multiplier. So my 2x OD activation doubles everyone's score. If all 4 people do it at once, that's an 8x band multiplier.

So you can have everyone getting 32x for each note/phrase at once (48x for the bassist).

Well the posts were getting to the point of "OMG GHWT CONFIRMED NOT TO WORK IN RB????" so a little rumor control was in order :)

Some asshat over at x360a.org is posting some of the secret achievements she finds:

Creating a bass or a mic do not unlock secrets, nor does getting 100% on a song on Medium/Hard, or a combo of over 400 so far...

Apparently Playing as Travis, Haley, Sting, Ozzy, And Hendrix will all unlock 10 pointers, but I did not unlock Travis or Haley even though we played their sets :(

Easiest set ever in a GH game.
