I agree. Watching the Drum video for Hot For Teacher was almost freaky.

pinata242 10-13-08 04:00 PM

I don't really drum much, so my opinion won't matter, but I find the decision to use purple as the kick color (or open note on bass) to be beyond poor. It just doesn't stand out enough. Should have switched it for one of the lighter ones.

But I do like the addition of drum sustains instead of timed rolls, that should be easier and more fun. Assuming I understand what I'm seeing or talking about.

yeah, the purple was tough to see.

The rolls still seem to be there, but the cymbal sustains look kinda cool.

shumway 10-13-08 04:08 PM

I think maybe the purple will look better once we're not looking at a low-res crap quality youtube of it. I can't imagine they would make it be something that is impossible to distinguish, I mean, they did have this crap playtested, right?

Has anyone heard about any store with a freebie with a preorder/purchase?

xmiyux 10-13-08 05:49 PM

With videos out there now why are we seeing nothing talking about how the GH drums work in RB2?

If they would just show me that i might pick up the whole bundle. :sigh:

dvdsteve2000 10-13-08 06:07 PM

I absolutely suck on drums (mid-medium at best), but the GH drums sound 100% better than the RB2 drums. The 'free' sections where the guys are just tapping around sound awesome.

I could be wrong, but I thought the guy who posted all the vids was using an RB drumset.

The set doesn't have anything to do with how the game produces the sound. I just mean their sampling sounds better. The RB games sound 'flat' or 'hollow' to me, and that shitty-rez vid has a nice deep tone to it.

I don't have a link for you that will take you directly to it, but I read some of the comments from other Youtube users on some of the songs, and a few people had commented on it.

Ok. I thought you were talking about the volume produced by the sticks bouncing off the pads, on the set itself-not in game stuff. My bad.

I meant just to any of the drumming ones :) The only thing i've seen is the one i linked above and those were with the GH kits....then i saw some 1 minute clips of full bands, that's it :(

I think the clip for "The One I Love" (R.E.M.) has both drums and guitar being played in it. I can't remember any others off the top of my head.

I'm not an REM fan, but I love the last 2 songs presented by them (Orange Crush & The One I Love).

thelwig14 10-13-08 06:33 PM

Irritating that no info is released on the drum situation.

I plan on going GH drums only so I would love to know how the Rock Band songs are with the GH drumset.

Same here.

discostu1337 10-13-08 06:42 PM

Just got my copy today! Gonna fire it up in a few hours and try to beat a Hard career with my friend tonight. I'll let you guys know if it can compete with Rock Band 2 or not :)

Just the game or the bundle?

This sounds like the RB pads being hit... and it does only have 4 notes/pads (same color pattern as RB) with the bass drum....

That's what a lot of us wanted to see! :p

xmiyux 10-13-08 06:56 PM

Not me, i want to see the other way. We knew RB drums would work in GH4 by stripping out the extra color note.

Now i want to see if/how the GH drums work in RB.

STFU! I'd like to see that too.

Actually - I didn't notice in that REM vid how the drummer engaged Star Power... because in GH you hit the cymbals and the kick pedal right...so how can that be done with the RB kit? Because some songs will use the kick and the Green/Red all at once anyway.
