Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE should buy Guacameelee at that price! It's my downloadable GOTY.

Still no word on whether you get a Pinball Arcade discount for owning the Season One tables on PS3 already, and no word on Cross-Buy or discount on the Vita version for previous owners of Terreria. Annoying, this late.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I've passed up Guacameelee! before waiting for it to hit PS+, but that is pretty damn tempting. Really wish it worked with PS4 as well.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Probably going to switch out hard drives soon on my PS3. I have a PS3 Slim from 2011 and am wondering if I should switch out the 160GB that's nice and full with a SATA or SSD (if the price is comparable) and at 5400 or 7200 rpms. Any thoughts?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I bought this 750 GB HDD at 5400 rpms. It works beautifully and almost silently. It's a total deal at $50. My review is up there somewhere.

You wouldn't go 1TB for ~$25 more? Or is 1TB too much? I read somewhere the bigger drive can make for choppy game play - is that just nuts?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'd go with one of the hybrid drives for a PS3. It'll help with load times and is your best bang for your buck compared to a true SSD. Something like this:

I'd read something like that. Not sure if it's true. I will tell you that a 750 drive is HUGE, even for me, even keeping not only every PS Plus PS3 freebie, but a bunch of Vita stuff on there as well.
If there are lots of reviews that the 1 TB drives are working great in the PS3 Slims, go for it. But I can just confirm that $50 drive I bought works perfectly.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Okay at last we got our answer about what sort of a discount owners of PS3 Pinball Arcade get :

Discounts

We want to give players who own the PS3 and PS Vita content a discount on PS4. There have been some technical hurdles, but we’ve been able to work with PlayStation to implement a loyalty discount on PlayStation Store for the Season One Table Packs. Players who own all of the Season One tables can buy either of the Season One Packs for half price! We’re also giving 10% off of these Season Packs to PS Plus members for the next two weeks.

Happy holidays to all of you guys from everyone at FarSight!
So half off + 10% Plus discount makes S1 tables $13.50. Good enough for me!

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I found a 1TB hard drive for $61 on Amazon and put it in my cart, but didn't pull the trigger. A few hours later, it jumped up to $70. That price shifting nonsense is garbage.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

So what is the largest drive you can put in a PS3 and still have it operate OK? 1TB? 2TB? I'm almost full on my 320GB. The free PS+ games are taking up so much space!

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

New hard drive arrived today. However, every time I try to use the Backup Utility with either of my external hard drives (a 2TB Seagate and a 320GB Seagate, if that matters) it says "Connect storage media at the save destination." The 2TB is brand-new and the 320GB has plenty of space and I definitely know it's already FAT32 formatted. What am I dong wrong here?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I figured it out. Turns out it wasn't FAT32 formatted. Said it was but through another utility I found that it wasn't. Unfortunately, I downloaded some bloatware I'll have to hunt down and destroy on my system now before I found out Seagate has the Seagate DiscWizard to help do FAT32 formatting specifically for Seagate external drives.

_________________________________

Thank you Activision for some truly terrible deals. Saving 10% on the absurdly overprice Angry Birds SW for PS4 is bad enough, but asking $35.99 for The Amazing Spider-Man for the Vita???? That's a shoddy port of a bad movie that came out like 20 months ago. I got the 3DS version at Target for like $12 over a year ago, I think (for my son, not for me).

Wonder no more : It doesn't.

The only full retail games with Cross Buy are PSASBR and Sly Cooper Thieves in Time. And R&C FFA (which isn't really a full retail game, though it was sold on disc).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

People say that as horrible that Epic Mickey 2 is on the Wii U, it is even worse on the PS3 because of the controls. I have no clue if that's true but it makes sense to me.

EDIT:

How in the world did a Castle of Illusion HD remake get by me exactly? This if the first I've even heard of it. Consider it bought right this second.

EDIT:

When will these prices go live?

Thanks. Too bad though. I would have been willing to give it a spin at that price.

Tomorrow sometime, lately it's been late morning on the left coast, but it's oftentimes 3-5 PM PT before the store updates.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

So here's a question: if I'm playing a PSN mulitplayer game online like Grid 2 on my PS3, can I play it with a friend who has it from PSN but is playing on a PS4?

My guess is the answer is no but I think yes would be awesome.
