Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'll probably buy Flower. I hope it doesn't happen like with the other PSN games that I buy and play only once, not because I don't like them but because I forget about them or I'm never in the "mood"... (HVB, Pain +2 add-ons, etc.)

I know I am way late to the game, but I have been playing the shit out of Pixeljunk Eden lately. What a solid game!

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Unplayed pile be damned, I caved and bought Flower over the weekend. I love it. I've done the first three Flowers and found two hidden flowers in each. Awesome game.

Also bought Noby Noby Boy, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Flower is too interesting to let go just yet.

I bought Flower this weekend as well. The accuracy of the control is amazing when you get the hang of it.

Flower is a lot of fun. The makers of Lair must really be annoyed after everyone complained so much about their motion controls.

Noby Noby boy is weird, but fun in small doses. I'm looking forward to seeing the moon.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I hit the little bit of a twist in the 4th level of flower and it gets really cool from there. Can't recommend this one enough.

I was thinking of Lair when I was playing it yesterday. I wanted Flower to have the 'reigns' of Lair to do a 180.

Flower = amazing

Anybody else hold the controller with one hand? I like to hold it over the top with my pinkie on R1...feels great to just fly your hand around like you did when you were a little kid (or at least I did).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Yeah, Flower has the best use of Sixaxis(motion sensor) ever. I haven't played Lair, thank god, but I've played Ratchet, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, etc. High Velocity Bowling is fine, but Flower is just perfect with its motion sensor.

darkside, or anyone, can you talk about the twist? I'm in the fifth or sixth flower so I'm not sure if I already passed that twist. I remember reading something like that, without details, that the game changed halfway.

You can spoilerize it.

If you're on the fifth or sixth flower, you should be past it.

Spoiler:
I assume folks are talking about the level where things go from serene to dark in the middle of the level

Yeah this. Little unexpected thing right in the middle of the level.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Flower spoiler:
Spoiler:
The first three levels are very calm and beautiful as you simply fly around and make flowers bloom. The last few levels get increasingly dark and tense, and eventually you're destroying menacing bits of metal scaffolding instead of just flying through pretty fields. I'm pretty sure that's the "twist", since previews for the game only showed the first few levels.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Yep. The "twist" reinforces that you're playing as wind, not as a flower petal.

Are there three secret/bonus petals for each flower?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Thanks.

Now, I've finished 5 or 6 levels/flowers, and the first 3 looked almost the same, and the fourth or fifth looked a little bit more blossomed, more "healthy". And the last one I did, after I finished the level, looked like it was dying, does that mean I did bad in that level? Does the look of your flower means how well you did in that level?

Flower

Raul3: I think it has to do with the amount of "secret" (blue/green) petals you get per flower. I believe there's three per level. If you get all of them, your flower may look healthier? I'm not sure. I know some of mine looked sad.

Savage Moon

Great game. I like the visual mix of Total Annihiliation / Starship Troopers / Starcraft. But holy cow, is the interface awful. Half of the difficulty in the game is running around trying to do everything on time. The camera is very flexible, but... eh. I think the game is just hard and I'm complaining.

PixelJunk Monsters

Anyone working on the trophies? I'm having a hell of a time with some of them.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Bus,

Did you already finish Flower? Perhaps no, I was checking your trophies yesterday and you some that I have but you are still missing the big one.
I'm enjoying this game too much. I haven't checked reviews, FAQS, trophies pages so I don't start playing the game in a certain way.
I finished flower 6 yesterday and wow! that was a work of art. I never say that about a videogame but that was really great.

I spent a long time on the trophies. It was just like the game for me, play a level enough times and you eventually develop a strategy that works.

I got all of the ones from the original pack ... I haven't bought the Encore expansion yet. The Rainbow Team ("Perfect clear the specified stage" - the one where they come in from both sides and their path is shaped like a "T") was, by far, the hardest for me (which makes sense, as I believe it's the only gold one).

Bus is right. There are three hidden 'green' flowers in each level. If you get all three the flower in the room blossoms.

Speaking of, I'm having a hell of a time finding the third in level 4.

I found
Spoiler:
the one by circling the wagon and the one out beyond the haystack. I even looked at a guide and it says the third is in the water near the wagon. I flew all around it and couldn't find a damn thing.

The third is
Spoiler:
revealed by lighting up one of the ponds. You have to activate one of the flowers that makes you glow, then light up the pond before you light up the grass in that area, because once you do the grass and finish that part of the stage you stop glowing. I think there are two ponds in that level ... the one with the flower is towards the end.

Thanks walker. I did finish lighting up that last area to try and give me a little more light to see what I was doing.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

So you have to light two bodies of water? One is a pond, the other is like a little creek out by the very, very big field you light up.
