Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Free games for September:
Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection (PS3)
ICO (PS3)
GTA: Liberty City Stories (PSP, PS Vita)
Rayman Origins (PS Vita)
Galaga Legions DX (PS3)
Is Rayman cross-buy? Edit nevermind, it's not.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Pretty "meh" month for me. I'm not terribly interested in revisiting old Resident Evils that I have on Wii, and I don't have Move. I also already have ICO on disk and don't own a Vita yet.
But when I do get a Vita, I'm gonna have some stuff to play on it!

Nice; although I would have really liked to have seen SotC rather than Ico.

While Ico is easily the better game, I am kind of surprised to see it offered over it's more popular "spiritual successor"

Yeah, I can see that happening. I loved it. SotC on the other hand, I could drink a red bull, be wide ass awake and that game would still put me to sleep inside of 20 minutes. Oh and dat camera.

I like artsy games as much as the next guy, but I like them short...like Flower or Braid short.
I lost interest in both SotC and ICO.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
- Bought it in previous sale. Don't even know why - hope it was cheap. Never played it. Never downloaded it.
-Have the HD compilation, still shrink wrapped. Also have the PS2 game. Also still shrink wrapped.
- Have the PSP game and played it a lot. On UMD, so at least I'll have a PS Vita-playable version now
- Have the retail game on a cart. Love it. That's gotta piss off the people who bought the Vita version on sale three weeks ago, right?
Hey, I don't own that one yet!
It seems I'm way better at buying games than I am at playing them.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I have wanted Ico and SotC for a long time. Somehow I missed July's sale, so I'm glad that they giving Ico away.
... so I can add it to my pile of shame

Virtual piles of free shame don't count.
BTW : I tried Skullgirls last night. It looks really cool. I like the hand drawn, animated look of the fighter. I really like the original take they've chosen on the characters -- so different from the run-of-the-mill, cookie cutter fighter characters we see annually from Namco, Capcom and Tecmo Koei.
Still OMG, what the hell were they thinking when programming the AI? It's so absurdly hard on the default setting I never came close to winning a match. I have to assume this is targeted to the hardcore fighter fan, but they could have lightened things a little, at least at the beginning. And the training missions are super obtuse. If you don't perform the single move they want you to, your character doesn't move at all (and won't progress in the tutorial).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Yeah, that's why I was debating it. I wanted to pick up Journey, but didn't want to go out and buy a $20 PSN card since this is the first thing I tried to buy in over 5 years. At the same time, I don't feel comfortable giving them my CC info again. I guess if it comes down to it, I'll wait and just hope it goes free on PS+ sometime.

Anyone who took advantage of that PLAY promotion and bought 2 or more games, check your email. I got my code for a whopping $3 PSN credit today. Normally they just add funds to your account, but in this case, they email you a code.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Finished Journey tonight.
Was that really short? It felt really short. I'd probably feel a little put out if I had spent $15.
That said, it was a beautiful game and was certainly worth what I paid for it. What they did with multiplayer was simply brilliant.
Flower was still better.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
You completed the game in two nights?
How many hours did you spent?
A short game is actually a plus to me, since I have a lot of games "In Progress"...

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I think it's like a 4-5 hour game. Not that it's too short, per say, as there isn't much point in padding it out further. The problem is there's either no story or very little and there's really no challenge. As I said before : the journey is beautiful and memorable, but I'm just not sure it's actually a game. Either way, sure it's worth $4.
In other news, I ended up buying Dyad. I loved Tempest back in the day. This isn't exactly the same sort of game, but it's similar enough to bring back memories. I like how your gameplay affects the soundtrack. The game is entertaining enough so far, but holy hell the trophy a are hard (but, to be fair, clearly laid out to obtain). Anyone who can Plat that game is a stud.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I agree that a short game isn't necessarily a bad thing. For an artsy indie title like this, 4 hours is fine, and this game really is a work of art IMO.
I definitely get Decker's notion that it might not be a game...maybe more of an interactive experience. I actually need to go back and spoiler or delete how the multiplayer works, because the more I think about it, the more I think that's supposed to be part of the symbolism, and for me, it was the biggest "twist" in the game.
