I think it's easily the best version of the game on any system. It looks great and controls great. I love having it readily available on my PSP. Unfortunately it's one of the only PSP minis that doesn't play on the PS3.

All the freebie games (so far) have been SCEA published ones. I would be very surprised if an EA game like this was given away on their service. Nothing I know for sure, just that I doubt it.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'll think about that Decker, thanks.

Also, the PS Blog stated that the discount would be even greater for PSN+ members on Wakeboarding HD... which matters not since it doesn't matter how much you pay for shovelware, you're still buying shovelware.

I don't think Wakeboarding HD is shovelware though. It's just a crappy game.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I think the rate that their small team is "delivering" "crappy" games to the PSN qualifies it as shovelware. There's certain elements of some of the games I enjoy, I just wish that they put all that effort into one game, one quality game, instead of 7 or 8 mediocre games. But that is obviously just my opinion.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Decker or anyone else, have you tried out Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess?

Looks like it could be fun. Don't know if this one would qualify ever for a PS+ freebie, but wanted to see if anyone had and liked it.

I haven't. Though I've heard good things about it and think the title is hilarious. I might still pick it up before the sale ends next Tues.

Just saw there was some DLC for Trine! 99 cents. Anyone try it out yet?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I have a question about that Tetris port. Does it allow you to turn off certain features they have added to make the game easier? I shouldn't be able to rotate the piece indefinitely, and I've seen pieces placed where they clearly should not go.

Watch what he does with the purple piece at 1:02 here:

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I just checked. I can't find an option to turn off certain features. Still, there are MANY varients available to play. It may or may not be your favorite version of the game and perhaps it's a little too easy. Still it's a great downloadable game and well worth $5.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Speaking of minis, are all of them compatible with the PS3, or are some PSP-only?

They're all supposed to be, but Decker has reported that Tetris is only available on the PSP. That may mean that there are others, but as far as I know that's the only odd one out.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

EA is supposed to be coming out with a PS3 version of Tetris, so that's why. "Later this year" is the only info as to when it will be released.

About these Minis, they're natively PSP games, right? If so, Sony has a PSP emulator running these games that they haven't opened up to non-Mini PSP games?

I just got it. It's cute as all get out. It plays sort of like an iphone Jump game, but with light boss combat added. It's a really simple and short game, but it's still fun and chasing high scores is pretty addictive in this game. I'm not sure it's worth $5, but for $2.50? Sure. They bump up the price tomorrow afternoon.

Here's the IGN review.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

well I was excited to finally get a Joe Danger demo .....
however as nice as the game looked the repetitive gameplay convinced me it wasn't a purchase for me

demo did seem to offer a lot of the game though

They mix up the gameplay pretty good. It's less repetitive than Trials HD. If you've waited this long to buy it, you can certainly wait for the inevitable 50% off sale, but at that point, I'd certainly pick it up. It's a pretty phenomenal game.

I played the demo tonight and I love it! This may be the first PSN game that I buy.

PixelJunk Shooter 2 Trailer:

<object classid=" width="437" height="265" id="viddler"><param name="movie" value="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/e878619b" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashvars" value="fake=1"/><embed src="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/e878619b" width="437" height="265" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="fake=1" name="viddler" ></embed></object>

I'm waiting for the first sale on this game. Wasn't really that crazy about the first one.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Well, Castle Crashers is finally coming to PSN on 8/31/10, a mere 25 months after it hit the XBLA. If you never got a 360, this is one game well worth picking up.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Sorry PixelJunk Racers. I tried your demo again. I really want to buy you on sale and reunite you with all your brothers and sisters on my PS3. I should like you, I mean you're a PixelJunk game! Still, I find you completely unplayable and zero fun. It's probably me, not you. No hard feelings?

The only pixeljunk game I really enjoyed was Shooter. It is an amazing game with great physics. Monsters was ok, but the others i can do without. IMO eden is a boring piece of crap, and I haven't tried racer.

Any idea on the price for CC? I've only heard good things.

Glad to hear they're making PJ Shooter 2, I had a lot of fun with the first one. Is there a release date yet?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Castle Crashers is $14.99 but I believe it comes with all the DLC released so far for CC on the 360 (maybe not though?) as well as some extra gameplay modes (or mode).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Although I'm sure it will go on sale at some point, it's offered at the same price as it is on the 360 but comes with a whole lot more. So comparatively, it's a great deal.
