that looks ridiculously awesome. the only issue i can see is that it might involve too many button combos.

I'm coming around on the game the more that I see of it. Hopefully there's a demo that comes out for it sometime just before release.

That looks really great. Everyone interested at least a little bit in the game should watch that video.
I'm not sure if I'm really going to be able to be that sneaky and smart
but it looks really cool.

Yeap, I think I'm going to have to jump on that. I still have a hard time buying games brand new, but I'm too big of a Batman dork to not play this on release. It's to the point that I don't care what the reviewers say. I really would be happy if it's just "good enough" but it's looking like this might be another Riddick type experience.

I have a $10 Amazon coupon that I was saving for Uncharted 2. I may have to use it earlier than planned.

The first rule of Batman games is: you do not get excited about Batman games.
The second rule of Batman games is: YOU DO NOT GET EXCITED ABOUT BATMAN GAMES!
Sorry to pee on the parade, but you all have been warned.
Did I mention it was made by Eidos?

So I don't think you can consider it crap just because of the publisher. The only thing Rocksteady has done though is Urban Chaos, which I never played but seems to have a respectable 75% on Game Rankings.
Not saying we shouldn't be skeptical, as I'm sure everyone knows how bad the Batman games have been in the past.

...and yes, I am impressed with the gameplay I've seen, but there's no way I'm even thinking about a preorder at this point.

Yeah, Eidos has released some excellent games as well as some not so excellent games. Like any company. This game makes me think of it as Batman: Hitman. And I mean that in the best way possible.

This looks very nice ... I'm cautiously optimistic. The Unreal engine runs really well on the PS3 (and 360, from what I've seen in reviews of Gears of War / UT3 on that system, but I don't have any first-hand experience). I wish they'd shown the entire sequence in the video, instead of editing out chunks that show how he moves around the room, waiting to pounce, etc.

It obviously will not be a GOTY situation or anything, but I'm just hoping the game runs properly, looks nice, and is fun to play through once. So far, it appears it might be.

The Thief series is the only decent stealth series i have ever played. It had a great style, story, and awesome gameplay. Imo, Thief 2 was the best stealth game ever.

I don't think it's that jaw dropping that someone hasn't heard of the Thief series, especially here where everyone's gaming is mostly console oriented.

The original Tomb Raiders actually frustrated the hell out of me, but the remake (Anniversary) and the two new ones for 360 (Legend and Underworld) I thought were fantastic.
As for Soul Reaver..never liked it to be honest. Loved the original (Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain) but didn't care for the sequels. As they say, to each their own

I for one can't wait for Batman:AA to come out, it looks fantastic, and I'm definitely not going to write it off because previous Batman games weren't good.

re: the theif series...I checked it out on Wiki, and it looks like a PC/Xbox series, which would explain my unfamiliarity. I also HATE stealth games, and hope this new Batman doesn't go too far in that direction.
Understand, I can't play the original Tomb Raider now, but when it first came out on PS1, it was awesome. I can't play the old Resident Evils either, for the same reason. 3D games have just evolved too much.

The first two Thief games were PC-only games released in the late 90s. Actually the first Thief came out within a month or two of the original Metal Gear Solid. Thief was a much better game, but it was relegated to an obscure cult following while MGS received fame and mainstream status. Go figure.
Thief 3 was released for both the original Xbox and PC. Unlike the first two Thief games which were designed for PC, Thief 3 was designed for consoles (i.e. mainstream gamers). Thief 3 is one game that is frequently used to demonstrate "PC games being dumbed down for consoles." Thief 3 was simplified A LOT compared to the original two games. Thief 3 was still a decent game, but it pales in comparison to the original two games.

Sorry to derail the derailed thread. I love all 3 Thief games, but I definitely agree that the first two are better than the third.
Edit to add: Hasn't it been like five years since the last Warren Spector game? Come on, Warren -- I'm dying to play your next game!

The Thief series is my favorite franchise of all time. My username even comes from the Thief series.
