Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

The remote control batarang is not useful in close quarters combat, but is pretty good if throwing from a distance without wanting to be seen, and also for taking out multiple guys at once. Combine it with the extended knockout upgrade, and it can be useful in the right situations.

It's also very useful to toss one around a corner to get an enemies attention so they'll go where you want. The remote control batarang is perfectly useful in the right situation, especially in the challenges.

I didn't care for the RB but you guys gave me some good ideas for using it if I play this again. I did use the RB for the "Catch a batarang" achievement.

The "Glide 100m" achievement. I'm done with this game but I've been trying to get this. I hate those travel X amount cheevos because they're a pain to get.

I used the Sonic Batarang for that; but obviously a Remote unit makes it easy to get them exactly where you want them.

As i said earlier, all the gadgets were well implemented in this game.

Yeah, the sonic batarang is way better for that when you have a straight shot.

For those of you on a second play through, when you start the game over do you keep all of your upgrades and such?

Go as high as you can on top of the mansion. You should be able to get it no problem that way.

Nope, none of that carries over.

After you beat the game all you can do is continue on the game you beat with your items and upgrades and go back and find the hidden items you may have missed. That said, none of the enemies respawn, so it's a lonely trip back through if you missed a ton of stuff.

Game makers should stop this shit.

Being able to start a new game with all leveling and upgrades should be standard. I know I'm MORE LIKELY to play through again multiple times if this is the case.

Yeah I had no problem getting this, just jumped off the main mansion, and just floated down for a bit. It did not unlock until after I had landed.

Spoiler:
Batman is hallucinating under Scarecrow's fear gas/chemical his Eyes are RED. I just arrived at the "dead Jim Gordon" and noticed that about Bat's eyes. The camera is also angled different.

There is a scroll on the title screen promoting free DLC in ten days, so it looks like we're on our way.

That would ruin the pace of the game, though. There are many times where you cannot make it into certain areas yet because you don't have the right tools. If you started with all of your tools, you could go to places before you're supposed to in the storyline.

I did like that it is relatively easy to get enough experience to get all of the upgrades.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Yeah, and finding riddles and stuff like that give you tons of experience. For those of you just starting out with the game, if you spend some time early on finding as many of the riddles as you can you can upgrade much quicker than if you wait to do all of that until after you beat the game.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

There's nothing about the combat upgrades that spoil the pacing of the story, though. Even if you started the game with all combat upgrades (sonic batarang, remote control batarang, special throws, etc.), that wouldn't affect anything. You'd still have to wait to receive the explosive gel before the upgrades for it become available, and so on.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I don't think it affects the pacing and I would like that in the sequel, they let you have all your upgrades when you start a new game. If not, then add more villains or something, because after capturing the Joker, it gets a little bit tedious going around looking for the riddles and no one to fight.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I think I said this already, but just in case I didn't, how cool would it be if they added a "GOD" mode to the game after you beat it, that lets you play the game as Superman. Think of the possibilities. God modes make the game less challenging anyway, and how fun would it be to go around the island kicking ass. If they put the effort in to change the writing and have the story adjust to having Superman in it, it would be fun....

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Let's worry about getting a good Superman game before we try to tack him on to the only good Batman game as an afterthought.

I don't think so. I'm talking about having fun with a fully leveled character after you've finished the initial game. If you're playing through again the pace is already off since you know where things are.

But ok, let's give you that one. How about this...After you finish the game, allow you to save with ALL upgrades but give you an "Insane" type mode where they also ramp up the AI?

And let's face it, unless you're playing "Batman Year One" there's no reason for Bats to not have most of his gadgets on him or access to them via hideouts and the Batmobile.
