Yep, RROD. There were never really any signs leading up to it either like my first two. Just a big FUCK YOU when I hit the power switch.
I bitched a ton to their customer service and managed to finagle a new controller, one of the Project Gotham games out of them and expedited shipping. Oh, and probably a month Live card as well. I don't have the scratch to drop on a new one. I wish I did. Kinda pointless though while you are still under warranty.

Thank God for Best Buy PRP!
I had a release date Xbox Pro that I upgraded last December to Elite, I just said that it had problems reading discs. And I wasn't thinking getting a new PRP for the Elite since it was manufactured in Oct 07, and that design was supposed to be free of issues, but at the last moment I bought it.
So far, zero issues with my Elite, but the last posts make me nervous.

I've had mine since Thanksgiving 06 without any problems, almost -- it started to glitch while playing Halo 3 in Sept 07, but it's been fine since. I bought the crappy Overstock 2-yr replacement warranty because it only came with a 90 day warranty back then. If it went out now I don't know if I'd go with Overstock's warranty or send it back to MS. I'm expecting it to die in Dec 08, though.

XNA Community Games pricing, marketing structure detailed
Posted Jul 22nd 2008 4:00PM by Xav de Matos
Microsoft has revealed the marketing and pricing plans for its Xbox Live Community Games program, which is expected to launch in some public form this holiday season in North America and select European markets.
Microsoft has set three tiers of pricing for XNA developed titles, games may cost 200MS points ($2.50) for titles 50MB or less and 400 ($5) or 800MS points ($10) for titles that weigh in at a maximum of 150MB.
Microsoft is set to share up to 70% of profits from any XNA developed title. Microsoft has also revealed plans to help promote the more successful titles on the service. "If we help you sell an absolute ton of these, it's going to be up towards 30% [more of your total revenue]," Microsoft chief technology officer Chris Satchell told MTV Multiplayer. "If it's not doing so well, down towards 10%."
As Shacknews described, developers who choose to distribute titles via the Xbox Live Marketplace will not be able to opt out of royalty-cutting promotions. Creators must first agree to a common set of terms when adding a game to the service and, According to Microsoft, "the majority of sales and revenue a creator earns will be generated by our promotions."
Unfortunately, XNA Community Games will not include achievements and the service is structured so no game may be released for free, but we assume we'll see demos for each title.

I can't recall if there were any warning signs on my first replacement unit.
My third and most recent system has been giving me the dirty disc error for about a month or so, but only in Rock Band. Since it was just that game, I chalked it up to the disc even though there was nary a mark on it. It was only after I finished a song, it would save and then hang on the loading screen before you get back to the song list.

Coffin came today so I'm going to send it off tonight. The disc drive is sticking when you open it as well. I put it in the notes so hopefully they fix that too or send me a new 360.

Sooo... I just bought a 120GB drive off ebay($95 shipped, yea!) and need some help. I went to fill out the form for the free transfer kit and lo and behold I need an Elite serial number to get one.
Did anyone get the transfer kit and doesn't need it anymore? I'll gladly paypal to ship it to me. Hell, I'll ship it back since I only need to use it once. Who wants to help a fellow DVDtalker out?

I saw some modded ones on ebay. In the Q&A section it said it's only possible if you have the proper boot sectors which he claimed to have installed on each of his drives(he was selling quite a few).

New, they come with the transfer kit, but GS sells them used without them
