Looks like that might confirm the Arcade's $199 price tag.

Wow. Seems to be a rash of RRODs lately. I play mine about 15-20 hours a week which iI don't think is too outrageous.
Mok, they said they would overnight me a coffin as well. It showed up a week later. The shipping of the actual console though was overnight, both ways.

Summertime RROD increase.
You guys don't believe me but they're real I tellz ya!

It depends, and truthfully it's hard to tell which is the true cause. EA Sports games just sometimes disconnect. It happened to me so much in NHL08, that I decided to stop playing online with that game. Other times, I'm sure it's the person quitting. Not so much a problem with live...

That's been the case for me. Sent two in, both were in summer. And it's in one of the hotter rooms in my house. Granted, I've never had the RROD (knock on wood), it was continual disc read errors both times.

Not an issue with XBOX Live. COD, Burnout, etc... all run flawlessly unless a rare host quit happens.

People also have more time to play during the summer and around Christmas -- my guess is that has more to do with it than the outside temperature (thanks to air conditioning and heating, it's more or less the same temperature in most peoples' houses year round)

Got my 360 back today. Build date of June 2008. Box was all smashed to hell, no apparent damage to the 360 itself, but there is what looks like blue and green crayon all over the top and front. WTF?

I remember plenty of reports of dirty 360's sent back before when the problems were running rampant, as people got back other people's repaired systems with things like lots of dust or stickers and things on them.

I just got my replacement 360 today, after it being broken (the disc drive wouldn't work well) for about three and a half weeks. It only took a week, once I sent it away, but I kept procrastinating. I can't wait to download Bionic Commando Rearmed.

So about five days before my Best Buy Replacement Plan was set to expire, I get an error 76 on my 360. I have a couple questions....
I will be getting $400 in credit for the thing, so I will buy the 60GB version. Has the price dropped to $300 yet or is it set to happen in the next week or two?
Can I redownload my Arcade games I purchased?
And a question I can't answer myself because my 360 is on the fritz, can you plug in an external harddrive (via USB) and play Divx and MP3 files off of it with a 360?
Thanks guys!

It's set for the week of 9/7. If you pick it up now, you should be covered with the 30-day price guarantee for the price drop.
Yes, you can re-download everything. It used to be in a situation like yours that you had to be logged into Live to play those purchased games on a new system. Now a DRM tool is available, but I'm not sure how it works. It should be easy to find on
That third question, I don't know at all.

Question about this - I used to be able to connect my IPOD to my 360 to play mp3s. Sometimes it couldn't play some songs, but I downloaded something off of Marketplace that allowed it to play all the songs I had.
Then the other day ago, I tried to connect my IPOD to the 360 to listen to some music and the 360 would not recognize that it was connected. Anyone know why this is? I never had a problem in the past. I tried turning off the console, reconnecting, etc. but nothing seems to work.

Absolutely. In fact, you might want to go through the re-DRMing process at http://www.xbox.com/drm once you get the new one. This will allow you to use your content offline on your xbox, if that matters to you at all.
Worst part is going to be recovering your gamer profile.

Best Buy ad offers yet more evidence of Xbox 360 price cuts
by Donald Melanson, posted Aug 26th 2008 at 4:04PM

While it seems to be all but a sure thing that all three Xbox 360 SKUs will be getting a price cut on September 7th, if you need a bit more reassurance, you can now take comfort in this apparently authentic Best Buy ad provided by a helpful tipster, which should be making an appearance in paper form just in time for the big day. Just like Radio Shack's, this one lists the Arcade, Pro and Elite for $199, $299, and $399, respectively, and, unsurprisingly, there's no mention of a motion controller with any of 'em.
