Tomb Raider: Underworld
#51
I just purchased this game. Last time I played with Lara Croft it was Tomb Raider 3. I really should play some of the other ones that have been made in-between but I'm a lazy gamer. I don't play that many different games at all. I mostly purchased my PS3 for Blu-ray movies. But anyway, I hope I enjoy it. It looks awesome. Hopefully the glitches wont kill it for me.

I simply couldn't deal with the controls anymore -- off to Ebay this game goes. I almost threw a controller in frustration --- and I NEVER get that upset playing a game.

The only letdown for me was the combat. It was actually a step down from Legend.
Yes, the enviromental glitches and battling the camera was very annoying but nothing that made me give up on the game.

I got this at launch and after clearing some backlog, I started playing again tonight.
After some playing I was looking around the net and found this:
Tomb Raider Underword DLC Was Meant To Be In Original Game

I bought both DLC packs last night. I wasn't sure which came first, but I finished Lara's Shadow. It was pretty fun. They gave evil Lara a slow-mo move that is a carbon copy of Prince of Persia, right down to running up walls. With all the cheap deaths that inevitably happen, it makes you appreciate PoP even more. I think I had more problems with the camera in this DLC than I did during all of Underworld. They seriously need to figure that out before the next game.
I'd say it took about 2 1/2 hours, which seems low for $10 but considering the full game runs 10 hours for $60, it seems about right. I managed 17/20 treasures and 0/1 relics, so another run through is in order.
I noticed reviews complaining about the combat/brawling aspect of this one, and quite frankly, I didn't have a problem with it at all. I think it was more entertaining than the generic gunplay that TR usually has. The fighting reminded me of PoP: the Sands of Time. Lightweight and repetitive, but for this game it works. You don't need a complex combo tree to get things done.
If you loved the main game, then you'll love this.

Thanks for the review. The packs have been on my list to get since they came out but other games keep getting pushed in front of them. I plan on buying them as soon as I am done with RE4.

Started this over the weekend in preparation for the new one coming out later this year. Only a chapter or two in so far but fuck is the platforming a pain in the ass compared to Assassins Creed or Prince of Persia. I had two questions I was hoping you guys could answer. The manual save function, does it actually save at that particular point wherever you’re at in the level? Or just at the last checkpoint? And about how long is the game?

I'm so glad this one wasn't as frustrating as ANNIVERSARY. Being able to play the game without worrying about dying or losing collectibles when dying made it a much better experience.
Lara's Ass/Evil Lara

graphics
new moves
Fucking annoying bugs/glitches
Loose camera
Loose controls
overall a great experience with last-gen Tomb Raiders... now wish I would have played these before playing Uncharted 1-3 which made me want to play Tomb Raider series, so I would have known how good these 3 games were/are.
on to "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light"
