I'm 2/3 through what must be the longest escort mission in any game ever, with a bunch of people who are unaware there's a run key.

So is anyone getting constant freezes, lock-ups, and disc errors?
This hasn't happened on any game outside of Fallout 3: GTA and Mass Effect both give me no problems, and they're just as intensive as F3. It gets to where I need to save every 5 minutes because I'm afraid it's going to freeze. Any tips? My Perk question of the day: Mr. Sandman. I have seen this recommended on some other boards, but I don't know the usefulness. I have yet to come up on a sleeping enemy. Also, is Cannibal a good one as well? The thought of scooping up the bloody mess of a fallen raider intrigues me! |

I haven't had the game freeze once. I'm on the PS3.

I am just about finished with the "Those!" quest with the kid and the fireants.
What a long ass quest. I had a hell of a time in the subway tunnels and it's still not over! |
That is one of the two "major" side quest I have completed. It wasn't too bad.
I was able to complete the last portion, and a chapter of the guide on the same trip though! |

Can't you fast travel?

No freezes or lockups here. Although I'm always afraid I'd have one. Do you have too much saves? I have read that having too much saves (more than 50?) causes issues with the game.
However, I have around 100 saves and no issues so far. |

Sadly, no. I don't know if it's that other people were extremely lucky or that I'm extremely unlucky. I tried fast travel again this morning and the group never showed, even though we're extremely close to the target now. I'm fairly certain they're just getting killed along the way. I passively followed them for a while and didn't intervene in a battle and they were easily wiped out by a group of super mutants.

That's an interesting way of going about things. If you just follow the quest instructions and meet them there, no problem, but if you show the slightest bit of concern for them by talking to them afterward, you're suddenly responsible for their lives. It was actually kind of fun - just freaking long. And any time I came across a wandering merchant I did a happy dance because I could sell off some of the heavy stuff I was gathering off corpses along the way. It did make for a nice way to see a great portion of the world. And the group walks so slowly I could run ahead, clear out a whole building, loot safes, etc. and they still wouldn't get ahead of me.
Now that I think about it, they probably initially set up the quest to be an escort mission, but then realized how long it would take, so they just amended the quest text to say "Meet them there." That would explain why the escort mechanisms still exist for that one, like how you can tell them to wait while you scout ahead and the main guy says "Great, but if you're not back within six hours we're going on without you." |

Gamespot forums seem to indicate getting a new disc. I don't think I have the receipt anymore.

Anyone know if different ammo for the Rock-it-Launcher gives out different damage amounts?
I seem to recall getting great results with a set of snooker balls and wrenches I found, but never get much out of tin cans and dinner plates. |
According to some online stuff, damage does depend on ammo.
I assume the only purpose clipboards serve is as ammo for the rock-it? I have passed tons of them, but don't know of a purpose. |
Built the launcher but don't think I've ever used it in combat (not specced out for big guns this time) - not that I can't pull out a Fat Man when I really need it ;p
Gotta say though - power armor really isn't the major combat/defensive/strength enhancer here that it was in the first 2. Overall DR is only slightly more than good combat armor and you don't get the major strength boost and accompanying extra carry weight that you did before. |
I built the Rock-it launcher, and haven't used it much.
|
I used the Ranger armor until the end. Power armor was a let down.
|
I'm assuming you get access to Ranger armor after completing the Ranger Rescue quest? That's what I'm working on now... but so far my well repaired combat armor and combat helmet seems to do just fine. I was using the shady hat but figured my sneak skill was good enough on it's own I didn't need the +5 bonus anymore, though it did look cool... hot chick character with combat armor, sunglasses and a gangster hat! There was a slow mo shot of me killing a feral ghoul with the plasma rifle that was just at the perfect angle, I wish I could have grabbed a screenshot of it.

Spoiler:
Got some more points to make about a few issues, but I'll wait till tomorrow. |

I have the Ranger armor, the ghoul mask, and the gentlemans wig on  |
Oh and something that made me crack up:
Spoiler:

Now is that an instance where you could possibly steal it back, and give it to another person, for a double dip?

yeah... not to get into spoilers but one of the best weapons in the game is a reward from Agatha. I am not sure, but you will not find it on her dead body...but I might be wrong. This is another reason why they are wrong when they say you can play the game anyway you want. If you want the best stuff you have to play one way or another. An evil character should have been able to kill her and take or find the weapon, but I think this is not the case. |
I'm only a few hours into the game and am already stumped with one of the quests. Lucy West asks me to deliver a message to her parents, then after a couple of other conversations, I'm sent to track down the gang that keeps coming to Arefu at one of three possible places. They're not at any of them, and now someone else tells me to look for the Family at a trainyard; they aren't there either. I've looked all over these areas at all times of day and night (Evan King says these people only move in the dark?) with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
