Re: Killzone 2 ACTUAL Gameplay footage
I really don't mean to sound like a threadcrapper, but I don't get all the hype that console FPSers get. They haven't been featuring anything that hasn't been done better on a PC, without the benefit of a better control scheme, story, and graphics. FPSers on consoles ironically are best on the Nintendo systems. They should try to execute something different, not something that's trying too hard to be a PC game on an inferior format for FPSers. In other words... gameplay that is best suited towards consoles.

Re: Killzone 2 ACTUAL Gameplay footage
I stopped playing games on my PC years ago, aside from RTS style. I'd rather spend my money on games and not on a new video card, memory, or CPU every 6 months. And my couch is way more comfortable than my desk.
Killzone 2 looks to be very good. Just what the PS3 needed. I'm not sure it's a system seller though. I doubt J6P is even aware of the franchise.

Yeah, pretty much this.

I can understand preferring consoles to playing games in front of a computer, but having to upgrade every 6 months is pretty far from the truth.

Re: Killzone 2 ACTUAL Gameplay footage
I should have said historically.
You can't deny the impact that games like Goldeneye and Metroid Prime had on the FPS genre.
It's just that every majorly hyped console FPSer let me down. Halo was extremely repetitive, to the point that I almost didn't finish it. Yet it had some parts - namely the vehicle sections, that transcended what PC gamers were playing at the time. Killzone wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, but it's greatest asset was the aesthetic design, something someone mentioned earlier. Still, I just don't get why console owners always go ga-ga over FPSers. To me, both platforms have their strengths, and FPSers isn't one of them on a console.

I flipped some games this weekend to put a pre-order on KZ2. So ready for this!

Re: Killzone 2 ACTUAL Gameplay footage
After reading some reviews and watching some videos I'm more excited about the game. It looks like they got the better of Halo, Gears and COD and made the perfect game.
I really hope it delivers. I'm an Xbox player, but I think we need a stronger PS3. 2008 was supposed to be the year of the PS3, everybody was saying that, and then nothing happened. KZ2 can be the game that resurrects the PS3. Maybe.

I think single player and co-op campaigns are better suited to consoles in terms of FPS. PC for multiplayer all the way.
But I'd rather kickback with a controller and blast my way through a Halo, Rainbow Six, Call of Duty, Condemned, or BioShock on a 106" screen with full surround than hunched over my desk. The addition of same console co-op on numerous games is just gravy.

PS3 hasn't exactly been lively in terms of software sales in the US. Last weeks top 20 selling games, for instance, consisted of 7 Xbox 360 games, 5 Wii games, 5 DS Games, 2 PS3 games (Skate at #13, Call of Duty 5 at #7) and Madden 2009 for the PS2.
In Japan, the numbers were a little more lively --- 7 Wii games, 3 PSP Games, 6 DS games, 3 PS3 games (Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Naruto, Fallout 3), 1 X360 game (Left 4 Dead)

"Resurrects" implies that the console was dead. Even for the most retarded 360-fanboy, that is a stretch.

Do you like "gives new life" better?
That resurrects comes after my comment that in January 2008 everybody was saying that that was going to be the year of the PS3. And that just didn't happen.
But whatever, the PS3 really needs KZ2 to deliver. That all the hype is true. And I really hope that.

I like playing games on my couch with friends, not where I work.

Re: Killzone 2 ACTUAL Gameplay footage
I have a feeling that KZ3 will break all first week sales for a PS3 game, not that it's going to take much to do that, but it seems like the hype and talk for this is pretty much at fever pitch.

I don't understand why you can't play your PC games on that same 106" screen. Wireless keyboard and mouse, HDMI cable to the projector, done.
I don't PC game, but I never understood the "hunched over a monitor" line. They easily connect to anything your console connects to.

Has to sell 665k copies (US) to beat MGS4 (Exclusive) or 1.2m copies (US) to beat GTA IV (Overall), I don't think it will pull either off but it should be solid no less. While the game has a ton of hype amongst the Sony fanboys, it really doesn't seem to have spread too far beyond that.
