Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info
My preorder had a $10, not a $20, video game credit, so I'm up unless it's changed. $44.99 is a great price for a new release, esp. this one (3 discs!), so I'm good.

just ordered it from Best Buy. figured with the 500 bonus points, it's like $10 back I'd spend anyway there. plus i had a gift card. i'll read the reviews and if it doesn't sound like something i'll like, i'll cancel the order. but, it's definitely caught my eye and i think i'll like it.

Do we know for sure about the PS3 bonus content? It looked like they were adding an extra case (I have no idea how much gameplay that entails), but Rockstar was non-committal when asked about it and pulled the info that showed the bonus per Joystiq

While catching up on our everyday viewing of The Daily Show on Hulu, we noticed an advertisement for Team Bondi's forthcoming detective drama, LA Noire. According to a note displayed at the end, the "Consul's Car Traffic Case" will only be available in the PS3 version. Though we weren't quick enough with our cameras, a cheetah-like commenter on Rockstar's blog snapped the pic you see above, confirming the case. Red Dead Redemption fans will no doubt remember Rockstar offering similarly exclusive PS3 content in last year's Wild West shooter.
As VG247 reports, a Rockstar staffer allegedly told the commenters to "Look for more details on that, coming soon" with regards to the PS3-exclusive DLC, but that comment has since been removed. Either way, with just over a month until the game's official launch, we expect to hear more about the Consul's Car Traffic Case soon.
Can't find any confirmation since that. Rockstar never gave any further information. Given the current state of PSN, that's not a surprise. I wonder if it's been pulled or something...

Well they did originally say this was supposed to be ps3 exclusive, so this is probably a way of saying sorry for it going multi-platform to sony by giving them something extra.

I still opt for the 360 version even when there's exclusive PS3 content. Recent events haven't encouraged me to rethink that course of action.

for the most part I'm 360 in general cuz most of the good games are made w/ the 360 standard in mind. PS3 is the better system in terms of hardware but it's harder to develop for. In the case of mulitplatform games like CoD. I'm sure Black Ops looks the same but since my friends play on 360 so do I. I mostly get the exclusive games on PS3. Multi goes to 360. Also in some cases the 360 multiplatform games look better, not cuz of the hardware but in the method they ported it over ex: Batman: Arkham Asylum looks better on 360, PS3 looks like it has less shading and looks a bit too bright. For Noire I'm iffy on which I'd get it on.

We're only nine days from release, and there's still not a single mention of the PS3-exclusive content on the official website despite them detailing every single store-exclusive pre-order bonus there (Amazon's melee stat bonus seems positively anemic compared to Game Stop getting an extra case and a collect-a-thon that results in its own bonus, or Target that gives a free t-shirt with purchase). Maybe they're not advertising it because there's a real chance folks won't have access to it at launch? Or maybe it's been canned?

I'd get it on the PS3 simply to not be hassled by swapping discs but that's me.

So I haven't followed anything past some promo vids, any word on if this is another Rock Star openworld game or is it a little more narrative driven? I figure it could go one of two ways, either Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES or Rise of the Dragon (but retro) on the Sega CD.
Planning to pre-order this with the $20 store credit I got from Portal 2, and I get $15 of that back? sweet.

I wonder if it will be sort of like Mafia 2...looks like an open world game, but actually pushes you down a path...

Have we got an official "Best Deal" on this? Right now I'm still leaning towards Amazon's $15 credit, no tax, and release day delivery as opposed to K-Mart's $20 coupon, tax, and gas.

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info
I think Kmart deal is buy LA Noire along with another $19.99 or less game, get a $20 coupon and the lower-priced game free. If that is indeed the case (and checking CAG, I believe it is), then that's a deal that will be very hard to top.
On the other side, you forgot that Amazon shoppers also get a melee-stat-boosting suit with pre-orders.

I don't count DLC exclusives because they're mostly useless or eventually not exclusive.
I did hear about that $19.99 game deal, but never saw anything that officially listed it (like SHC-Gamer's first post). If that is, indeed, the case I would go that way probably, though I can't think of a $20 game I want right now...
