Does anyone know when sony is gonna start having ps3 greatest hits? I'm planning to buy the mgs4 ps3 bundle and since ps3 has been out for more than a year now, there has to be some games that would get the greatest hits treatment.

Has anyone heard about the IR2BT for the PS3? This thing is really awesome. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and received it this past week. It converts an IR signal (from a universal remote) to a bluetooth signal. If you have a universal remote with PS2 remote in its database, or the actual PS2 remote with the eject and power buttons, you can use an IR universal remote for ALL of the buttons on the sony bluetooth remote, including the ability to power down the PS3. I had the Nyko remote thing for awhile....it was ok but had a significant delay between button push and action....also lacked multiple buttons. The IR2BT is cool because as long as it is in the line of your IR remote, it doesn't matter where the PS3 is because it is sending out a bluetooth signal. I really can't say enough good things about it.
Two problems are:
1. it is $55 bucks
2. the guy that makes them is constantly out of stock. he makes 500-700 available at a time and they sell out in a couple of hours.

I broke down and picked up the 40GB PS3 during the Wal Mart $100 gift card sale. I was looking at the back of my TV (Sony HDTV) and I have 2 HD inputs, but there is also a DVI input. Since my 360 takes up one of the regular HD inputs, and the cable uses the other, will I be able to make the most of the Blu player via the DVI input? And, if so, what is the best way to connect the PS3 to it?

My wonder was if the cable company had a different cable that would allow the box to connect to the DVI input and allow the PS3 to use the component, but Comcast hasn't been helpful with that question.

does anyone know if the 80GB MGS4 bundles are the new 65 nm chips? is there some way to tell from the labeling, possibly by checking the power consumption data on the PS3's label?

So, thinking about picking up the MGS4 Bundle from Best Buy tomorrow. What do you guys think, enough demand to merit my getting up hours before opening time and sitting outside the store? The clerk's rather rude, "how should I know?" response left me a little undecided.

If you want one to keep, I'd say you'd better wait in line. Better to do that unnecessarily than to miss out on it.
If you just want to sell it and are worried about demand, I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

No, no. I'm buying one for keeps. I resent people (no offense to anyone) that buy hot items and then resell them for 50% more than retail. Consider that to be some real petty shit.
So, has anyone ever waited in a line for a game system before? How early should I get there? This location isn't doing a midnight release, so it will be in the morning tomorrow.

As I said in the MGS4 thread, I got my MGS4 PS3 bundle today from Amazon. This is my first PS3, and before today I've never really fooled around with one before. I bought it mainly because of Blu-ray, since I bought my first HDTV a month or two back, so the entire deal about PS3 games is simply secondary for me, a bonus if you will.
While I haven't fooled around with MGS4 yet (trust me, I will, that did play a big part in me getting this bundle), I have been tossing a few Blu-rays and DVDs at it to see how it goes. I have it hooked up with an HDMI cable that I bought at Amazon, the one I asked about earlier and was told it would work fine. For the record, that cable does indeed work great.
Anyway, as a multimedia piece of hardware, I'm blown away by the PS3. The Blu-rays obviously look great, but what is really taking me by surprise is the quality of the SD DVDs I've tried so far. They look way, way, way better than they did on my normal DVD player on my HDTV. I take it that the PS3 upconverts DVDs, because they look great to me. I have the DVD of Once running right now, and even that low budget flick looks very solid.
Would there be anything wrong with using the PS3 as my primary DVD player now? Perhaps using the DVD player just for things like animated stuff and TV shows, as well as the various other region discs that I have that wont work in the PS3 anyway.
This is also my first taste of Blu-ray, or any HD movies. For as good as the SD DVDs look on the PS3, the difference between even that and the actual Blu-ray discs is astounding.
For all of the shortcomings of the PS3 game library (there's only a few games I want MGS4 which I have, Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted), it totally makes up for it as a DVD/Blu-ray player. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Be sure and check out Heavenly Sword as well. I'd also recommend Everyday Shooter & Echochrome on the PSN.

Thanks. Yeah, HS is another one I've had my eye on and if I can get it cheap enough I'll give it a try. I'll look into those two PSN games for sure.
I used the coupon for the free Pain game, and that's fun enough for a few minutes.
I was getting ticked off about not having a power button on the remote control, but found out that if I hold down the PS button in the middle of it for about 3-5 seconds, an option pops up to turn the system off. That's a huge relief for sure.

in addition to those wants you mentioned, check out MLB 08 The Show if you are even remotely a baseball/sports fan

My system is updated to the latest firmware, so yeah, I'm sure I'm good to go. The DVDs look great!
I know it's way early in the PS3 lifecycle. I'm sure more and more great exclusive games will be released over time. As for MLB 08 The Show, I've heard great things about that one. I downloaded the demo just a little while ago, so I'll give that a try tomorrow.
Any thoughts on using the PS3 as a primary DVD/Blu-ray player? Do any of you actually do that, or do you mainly just use it for Blu-ray and then only the rare DVD every now and then? I just don't want to put too much strain on the system. I have no clue how stable it is or anything like that. I believe either the PS2 or Xbox had a problem where you if used it for DVD playback too often, you could screw up the laser.
