Eyetoy is pretty cool but I don't know what games work with it other than Eye of Judgement. It's a really big improvement over the last generation.

As far as Bluetooth, if you buy the disc of SOCOM it will come with the official SONY Bluetooth headset.

The Dual Shock 3 has rumble. Some people have reported that the six axis functionality doesn't work as well, I think it was Michael Corvin.

-Bluetooth headset - Should I get one? I'm getting Little Big Planet, and maybe SOCOM depending on reviews. If I need one, any particular recommendations?

-Controllers - I just have the one that came with my 40gb PS3. I thought they were releasing a different one, maybe that just added rumble? Any good reason to get one other than the one I have?

Thanks.

There are some nice things you can do with the Eye Toy. My in-laws from Guatemala bought a PS3 and an Eye Toy and took it back home. Now we can connect on the PSN and video chat whenever we want avoding the high cost of international phone rates. Plus, we get to actually see family members that we haven't seen in years.

Buzz Quiz TV uses the camera pretty well. It's great to see the candid shots it takes at various points during the game.

I might grab one then, sounds neat enough. Is the standalone camera all I want, or is the Eye of Judgment pack worth the extra $10 or so?

Quick question about the eye... I just purchased one off ebay, and the lens seems a little flimsy. I'm talking about the part you can turn to go from a wide angle to a closer angle. Is that supposed to feel a little bit loose, or do they feel tight for everyone else?

My family also uses the PSN and the EyeToy for video conferences. Very cool application!

My three-year-old niece loves seeing her grandparents on the TV talking to her.

Other uses for the EyeToy:

SingStar uses it very well. Records clips of you singing the songs and you can then add effects and stuff.

LittleBigPlanet looks to be the most useful application other than the ones that NEED the EyeToy though.

They have had them clearanced at Target and Wal-Mart. You may still be able to find one on the shelf at either with the game and camera for cheaper than the camera alone.

PlayStation Network Temporary Unscheduled Maintenance
As some of you may have noticed, we’ve temporarily taken down some functions of PlayStation Network - specifically access to the PlayStation Store, account management and registration. Online gameplay will remain uninterrupted. We thank you for your patience and will report back here as soon as the Store and registration functions are back online.

Store still down, but High Velocity Bowling update is up. Start up the game and you'll be prompted to update. 130 MB

ETA: Holy fucking shit! Given the relatively small size of this update, it is unbelievably slow for me!!!

So I linked a bluetooth headset to my PS3 and started an online game of GT5 Prologue - no audio. I then started an online game of Warhawk (demo version) - again no audio. Am I missing something? Does the PS3 only work properly with a particular headset? I can hear my voice on it in the audio settings, etc... Or do these games just not support chatting while you play?

Next question - I have an older tv. It is 50" diagonal, and 40"x30" (or 4:3) exactly. I have the PS3 set on 4:3 but the edges of the screen seem to be getting clipped. Is there a setting to fix that?

I'm not even going to try updating HVB till tomorrow.

As far as the Bluetooth headsets a recent firmware update seemed to break many of them. I was going to get one awhile back and ended up waiting for the official Sony one.

I started my HVB update at 6:13 and was playing an online match by 6:17. Got my first trophy! "Win an online game".

You act like you're surprised that PSN is slow.

The update was really weird for me - took about 5 minutes to go from 0% to 50% then it took about 10 minutes to go from 50% to 60% then it took just about thirty seconds to go from 60% to 100%, including installing. Like I said, weird.

I had the same problem too. You need to go to either the Voice or the Audio setting and select your wireless headset as the primary input / output. It's the area where you can also mask your voice so you sound slower or faster.

I thought Age of Booty was scheduled for a PSN release this week?

I know the 360 got it, at least.

Do I need to do that every time I turn it on? OR does the setting stick?

Just wanted to ask again about how loose the turning mechanism should feel on the Playstation Eye. I need to leave feedback for/contact this guy and all he did was wrap the camera in a brown bag and put it in a shoebox and mail to me. He also did not include one of the action cards for the Eye of Judgment deck.

IIRC, on mine, it's not really very loose. It swivels, obviously, but not quickly.

C-Mart -- the setting will stick if you choose 'OK'.

Anyone have a problem where the HDMI stopped working?

Yesterday, the PS3 was working fine. Today, I can't get video/audio out. It'll turn on and start humming, but there's no video or audio.

I tried resetting the video by holding down the power button. And I tried different HDMI cables. I'd try the composite cables, but I can't find the stupid adapter wire.

One month past the warranty. This sucks. Anyone have this problem? Any ideas on a quick fix?
