If anyone is interested in any of the remaining lightning deals, be prepared to jump on them the second they become available. I was able to get R&C but have read that it sold out in about 1 min.

Ok, so this seems to be THE PS3 thread so i'll ask my question here. Please point me in another direction if applicable...

What's the deal with the new 80GB PS3 that is on sale everywhere on Sunday? Is that when they will first be available in stores (Best Buy is SOLD OUT online and Store pick-uP is NOT AVAILABLE)?

Will the stores have enough of them or will it be like Wii and I'll have to try like 10 different stores to find one?

I would guess that it is the street date for the "new" 80gb model...there should be plenty available

Or maybe Sony is going Nintendo's route and holding back manufacturing capacity to create an artificial demand which causes shortages worldwide!

That's kinda funny. This game is a must-buy for me, no doubt.

That must have been that game I saw with satellite maps. It would be great if you could use your own somehow and run around your city.

Cue the fanfare, I got my first two trophies last night, and there was much rejoicing... or not. I had no idea what I did to get them so it was very anti-climactic. So after I was done with the game (Eden) I went to check it out. I cannot fucking believe you have to sit there and wait for the system to load them. What a joke.

Yeah if you are used to Xbox Live most of the stuff in the PS3 will look like a joke.

I was at Target two nights ago trying to get clearanced Madden '09 CE and I saw a couple of the 80gigs in the case available. I am pretty sure they were the new ones.

This is as good a place to ask as any, I guess: could someone assist in getting even the most basic media streaming to work on my PS3? I'm stuck just trying to have WMP recognize the PS3 as an available device to share with; it never shows in the "share my media to..." window.

I've read through the instructions here along with the many, many steps and variations detailed here to no avail. The info provided by Sony is useless and Microsoft's WMP troubleshooting, while more helpful, still hasn't gotten me any closer to success.

I'm on XP using a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router, all the UPnP and network sharing services settings appear to be correct and working, I've started and restarted everything (software and hardware-wise) a number of times... What other pertinent details would someone need to help with this?

Absolutely! I think the perfect console would be if the Big Three worked closely together with Sony developing the hardware, Microsoft on the software/interface and with Nintendo on the games.

I watched the behind the scenes doc for the Last Guy and wtf?!

That's the more interesting, creative, disingenuous, etc. way to "promote" a game. I had already played the demo but I was expecting more info about the game in there... and oh surprise!

Well, considering where PSN was from where it started and where it is right now, it's a huge improvement. I actually prefer the XMB over the blade system on live but that's just a personal preference.

Hey guys, just wanted to say I am a proud owner of a 40GB PS3. I had some BB gift cards to kill and wanted a Blu Ray player sooner than later, so I got one. First games are GTAIV and SC4.

Is there a way to change the default starting position of the XMB? Every time I turn on my system to watch a movie/do anything it defaults to the game tab and Eden. The music is loud as hell.

I don't think you can, but you can group content into a folder so that it doesn't go to a specific game (unless a PS3 disc is inserted). For instance, you could group the downloaded games into one folder so that it goes to that folder instead of Pixeljunk Eden.

Yeah, I knew that would work, I was hoping for a different work around. Thanks though.

So I've been playing a bunch of Eden lately and I've noticed something odd. I have both the DualShock 3 and the Sixaxis controllers and the Sixaxis is far more responsive when it comes to the motion controls. It's so different, I don't even bother with the DS3 anymore, at least for this game.

Anyone notice anything similar in other games?

I couldn't tell you because I never use the motion control (don't have any PixelJunk games though).

However, if it's true, maybe they weren't completely full of it when they said vibration would interfere with motion control. Maybe they had to adjust it for the DS3, making it less sensitive so the controller can vibrate without throwing off the motion too much.

Could be. The motion in Eden is a simple thrust downward and I have to use twice as much force to pull off the move with the DS3 than I do with the Sixaxis.
