FWIW, I've been seeing a few 80gig MGS4 PS3 units popping up here and there lately (Best Buy, Target, Circuit City etc.) - these may be the last few with BC.

Rewarded Sony for making this so easy to do by purchasing some games off PSN - Pain and Aquatopia. Pain is a ton of fun.
Don't forget Wipeout HD tomorrow. Just $20 for lots of 1080p, 60fps goodness

Do we know if there's a demo planned for Wipeout? I was terrible at the PS1 games and could never get the hang of the gameplay mechanics, but wouldn't mind seeing how the series has changed.

Anyone pickup Buzz Quiz TV yet? I'm tempted, but with RB2, SOCOM, and LBP soon to come, I have to budget!

Will probably pick up Buzz sooner rather than later. Will be an impulse buy when I do. We have quite a few get-togethers at our place and this game looks like it'd be a great party favor.

I think i'll pick up Wipeout today along with some of the RB DLC.
I bought Jeopardy a couple weeks ago but it seems like everytime I play online now everybody just knows the answers due to repeat catagories and just buzzes in right away, always with the right answer.

Just noticed the new official PS3 Bluetooth headset is only $39.99 at Amazon. $10 off full retail. I have zero interest in Socom so this is a great deal for me.

Why the hell can't you download on a PS3 with the power off? The 360's done that for over a year. It's just absurd that you can't on the one system that already takes forever to download even an arcade game or a patch.

Can you sing in Rock Band with the bluetooth headset? I was going to purchase one of the regular USB headsets and try it with Rock Band, but decided to get a Mic stand instead. But it would be cool if there was a wireless solution for vocals.

I don't think so... at least, neither Singstar (made by Sony) nor KR can use bluetooth mics, so I doubt RB can.

I found Warhawk at Target with the Bluetooth for $30. I hate Socom so it was a sweet deal as I wanted Warhawk anyway.

That's not the same headset as the one coming with Socom. The one with Socom is the official Sony PS3 headset and is a lot better than the one that comes with Warhawk.

Just wanted to update you guys on how my repair cycle went. My PS3 crapped out almost two weeks ago and stopped reading discs completely (after freezing during BD playback intermittently). On Tuesday the 16th I filled out the form requesting a coffin. I got it on Thursday and shipped it Friday the 19th. As it's 1-day air they received it Monday the 22nd and sent me a confirmation that they were working on it. Wednesday they had it repaired and shipped and I got it Thursday. Granted the repair facility is in Laredo about 2 hours from my house, but only 9 days from initial complaint to receiving repaired PS3 is pretty darn impressive. I was pissed that it had broken but I'm VERY impressed with Sony's repair process.

I did receive the exact same PS3 I sent in, in exactly the same pristine shape. I had formatted the HDD before I sent it in and the backup/restore process worked great. Unfortunately the Trophies I had gotten for Uncharted no longer show on the PS3. They do show up if you go to my online profile, but I'm kinda pissed that they aren't on the machine anymore as you can't tell what they were actually for. I don't own Uncharted anymore either so I can't exactly get them back easily

I ended up getting Buzz! Quiz TV. I have to say that I'm enjoying it a lot. I've only had it for 2 days so far, but I've played A LOT of games already, both off- and online. Buzz himself is very repetitive, which is a shame, but I haven't noticed any repeat questions so far.

Okay guys Im seeing something weird with my PS3, can anyone diagnose this?

Blu-Ray PS3 playback with moving discolored lines?

I got a PS3 about a month ago, ordered some component cables and thay came in today. Plugged em in and my PS3 movies and games look like shit! On the PS3 menu, during the movie, as long as the player is on, all I see are lines of varying thickness (they seem green or yellow colored) going from the bottom of the screen to the top. Its some kind of scan and I dont know what it is. The problem is, I dont know if its the wires, PS3, or movie.

I have one bluray movie and you can see em real bad. I tested a regular DVD and it had them too, not as bad. Oddly enough the picture looked worse than a regular DVD player. Not cause of the lines, just granier and rough edged. Whats up with that?

I have the PS3 on 1080i (I dont have p) and am using a digital output. I never noticed the picture like this before but I had it hooked up with 480i. The component cables are a generic brand from China (I got my Wii ones from the same place, dont have this problem) and were cheap. Any ideas or help?

I had to buy Wipeout. Its a great game and challenging. I love it.

It would be nice if they put this track from the movie "Hackers". (sorry no sound)

Sounds like a similar problem I had. If I'm not mistaken it has to do with too many ground wires into one outlet. You can either go the extension cord route to a different outlet, or you can get a 3 prong female to 2 prong male adapter.

Those are a couple of cheap options to try out.

*edit - here's a photo of one similar to what I used and it solved my problem (thick scan line rolling from bottom to top of screen). Should be about a $1 or so at Home Depot or Radio Shack. I forget where I picked mine up.

I had a similar problem with the scrolling line.

Turned out that the TV cable was not grounded outside. If I unplugged the TV cable the PS3 looked fine. I opened the cable box and found the ground wire an tied it to an outside pipe. Time-warner came out 'at their convenience' and did the real grounding.

Agree with Corvin, this sound like some type of grounding problem.

If you unplugged the TV how could you see the PS3 to know it looked correct?
