Anyone got any tips for the GW2 Wave mode. That mode seems to consistently kick my ass...

LOL! Maybe I should do that with PixyJunket360 I'm only beating Pixy in Pacifism, and I'm sure that'll be trounced soon enough. Getting closer on all the modes but Waves, easily the hardest mode for me.

I don't have a great score in Waves, but find that firing straight (not the whole time, but generally) or at a slight angle and moving the ship instead of trying to aim my gun fire helps.

I just added GWE2 as well. Only played a little but made it out of the bottom! LOL

I'm afraid to add anyone for fear that I'll just drop off the board! :-)

I wasnt even aware of Geometry Wars 2 coming out. I spent countless hours on Geometry Wars:RE. It was such a simple yet fun game. Now reading about the different game modes and all that I'm a little annoyed since I am away from home for another 2 weeks and wont get to play till then

GW2 is great. Can't wait to get some more time in on it...just played it for about half an hour. Some of your scores are ridiculous.

Well I nearly raised a blister trying to improve, but could only get another 100-200k. Unfortunately this mode seems to be the one for me that I require the most luck, in terms of how the waves spawn. At least the way I'm playing it.

My strategy for waves right now is this:

Shoot the early waves from behind at a diagonal, moving in the same direction as you're shooting to grab as many geoms as possible. Continue this strategy as long as possible, even with the full length waves. Once the green ship begins to spawn, I change my fire pattern to straight left, right, up, or down, and only shoot diagonally in between waves. I'm able to anticipate which direction the wave will be coming from most of the time to knock out a hole to pass through. Keep this up until the gates appear, then go through as many as you can. The gates are where the big points are at. My high is currently over 10 million for the mode...
Spoiler:
Finally beating Pixy in Waves

So Braid is priced at $15 because Space Giraffe was a failure? Lol...that's a bad excuse. The creator probably shouldn't compare his game to one of the worst games ever made if he's trying to help his sales.

LAME!!!!! If he had just said the part that it had cost him quite a bit to develop and had a lot of debt to secure I might be more understanding. However to try and blame a higher price point on it because a piece of crap like Space Giraffe did poorly at it's price is just plain stupid. Yeah, I seriously think when I look at 2 games and if they are both say 800 points that I paid for game A and it was just UTTER CRAP, that I am going to be like I don't want to buy game B now in the future because it is also 800 but instead now that it is 1200 it would change my mind. PLEASE.

Yeah, lame excuse for the Braid pricing, but the game itself is great. I played the demo this morning and bought the full version as soon as the game asked me at the end of the first world.

The visual style is amazing, the gameplay mechanics are simple to understand but allow for some difficult puzzles, and there are a ton of homages to classic retro games. One nice thing is that some of the tougher puzzles are optional - you only need to solve them if you want to collect all of the puzzle pieces in a level. If you get stumped, you can usually move on to another level and come back later. The game's instruction screens are intentionally brief, and there's no tutorial level. It gives you the basics and lets you figure out the rest through experimentation.

It won't be for everyone - it's definitely going for that high-concept artsy vibe, which could turn off some people - and I'm sure the price will be a deterrent for others. Thankfully the demo gives you a good idea of what the full game is like.

The article also says that:

"That decision, it sounds like, may not have been entirely Blow's to make. He theorizes that Microsoft would have priced the title at 1200 MS Points regardless of his wishes to go lower."

I am going to support him anyway just like I supported Minter, I like to help the indie developer.

I like Space Giraffe, it's goofy and kind of great. But it's a $5 with super limited appeal.

Using that as a reason to charge more is stupid.

I don't even follow his logic. "Space Giraffe was cheap and unpopular, and I don't want that. So I might as well be expensive and unpopular if I'm going to be unpopular." Huh?

At least the debt thing make sense.

I absolutely agree. This game is both breathtakingly beautiful and fun to play.

I'll just bite my tongue about Minter and Space Giraffe.

I can't wait to put more time into Braid and GW2, and next week we get Bionic Commando! Something tells me that this summer arcade promotion could go 5/5, with Galaga Legions being the most questionable for me.

Well, the more I read and the more impressions I am exposed to, I'm beginning to think I won't even bother with the demo and just jump right in. It's starting to sound like something truly magical.

Just my two cents, but I'd play the demo first. I'm only a short way into the game, and while I think it's excellent, I wouldn't quite call it "magical", at least not yet. I would just be wary of getting over-hyped for it.

Another Braid review Computerandvideogames.com gave it a 10. They called it The best game on XBLA.

That seemed more like a love sonnet than a review.

Anyway, it does sound very good. I look forward to trying the demo tonight. Yesterday I was definitely not going to buy this game at 1200 points, but now, with my stockpile of cheap points, I'm at least considering it.

The demo was good, but I can't justify 1200 points for a 2 hour game.

2 hours? Is that what it's rumored to be? That's almost as bad as the Ratchet & Clank game being $15 for 3 hours.

No way is it just a 2 hour game, I just played 2 hours and haven't finished a single level yet. Now I may not be the smart's person, but I can't see anyone finishing this game that quickly unless they were using a guide.
