Release approaches. Command?

Am I the only one (still around) that is truly excited for this game?

Spicollidriver1 07-20-08 02:55 PM

Shagrath 07-20-08 02:59 PM

^No I do not. I was saying that castle crashers is made by the same people that made Alien Hominid, and its an RPG so I now I want it.

Oh, okay. I think I figured out why you use Spicolli as a handle. ;)

JasonF 07-20-08 07:03 PM

Is Castle Crashers really an RPG? I thought you just ran around as a knight in a fantasy setting killing successive waves of bad guys. Seems like a fun game, but not really an RPG.

Spicollidriver1 07-20-08 07:18 PM

I don't know just saw rpg in the description maybe you can build your guy up. I know that a lot of games have blurred the lines from action game to action rpg.

pinata242 07-20-08 09:37 PM

Yes, you earn experience and level up your characters, so it's an Action RPG, I guess. Not unlike that D&D arcade game about 15 years ago.

Shag, I posted a few days ago that it's supposed to "be out before 9/21", but I'm not sure if that's just another way of saying "Summer 2008".

discostu1337 07-21-08 09:53 AM

Castle Crashers was awesome, but has very limited RPG elements. You basically get skill points for filling your XP bar, then pump those points into the usual strength, magic, health areas.

Anyway...good luck with:
4. Deer Trainer
Navigate the Abandoned Mill without hitting any obstacles.

The game tester I played with actually got this during our run through last month, but that level is so long and getting hit once means you're dead :)

Looks like in addition to 1942: Joint Strike, we're getting Go! Go! Breaksteady on Wednesday.

Nice! Go! Go! Breaksteady looks like it could be crazy fun. I'll have to give the demo a try, as I have no idea how the game plays. I absolutely love the art style, and rhythm games. So hopefully this was made just for me!

Decker 07-21-08 02:22 PM

Yes, I was looking forward to Go! Go! Break Stready. Might be a 1600 point week for me. We'll see how it plays. It looks like rythym/puzzle gameplay. Could be very cool.

I know I've posted this before, but since I can't find the page, here's the trailer again:

I might be dropping 2300 :(

Puzzle Quest Expansion is also coming, at the outrageous price of 700 (wtf?) points. I want this, but I just don't see that it adds enough to justify that. I mean, the level cap only went up by 20%, so it can't be too terribly long/difficult...

Decker 07-21-08 03:43 PM

Whoa, that's a nutty price. 400 sounds more reasonable and 600 would be the max anyone should have to pay for an Arcade expansion. I wonder how well it will sell.

Liver&Onions 07-21-08 04:11 PM

since i still haven't finished the main game, i'll pass on the expansion. The the Zuma/Bust-a-groove game will be demo first. But 1942 will be bought!

Cardiff Giant11 07-22-08 04:23 PM

so any word on the release date for Bionic Commando? I heard July so it's either this week or next unless that's slipped.

Was it not Aug 6 or 13th?

pinata242 07-22-08 06:39 PM

Aug 6 is Geometry Wars 2. I can't see another high profile release that same day.

pinata242 07-23-08 10:17 AM

Tried both demos this morning real quick before I left for work. Something strange happened. I am leaning more towards Go! Go! Break Steady than 1942 now.

1942 seems short, and people on the other forums are sort of saying that as well. Now, I know it's a modern SHUMP and the "point" is going for high scores and perfection. But I'm not really into that. I'll probably still get it, but I wasn't blown away by the only level in the demo. I tried it on the highest difficulty. Like Commando 3, I imagine the levels aren't any harder (more/tougher enemies), but rather you just have a smaller stock of lives for the game. Only got 2 on that difficulty, I believe.

Now, Go! Go! Break Steady was a pleasant surprise. The quick switches between rhythm/button-matching and the Zuma-esque gameplay was fun. It was extremely easy to pick up and it might be addicting.

I'd seriously recommend everyone to check it out.

Michael Corvin 07-23-08 10:23 AM

Wait, what? Did somebody mention Zuma?
