...And Double D Dodgeball has been removed from Major Nelson's blog this afternoon. I think it was pulled from the marketplace as well.

That was a delisting that took place 90-180 days sooner than I expected!

In was at a game store last weekend and while staring longingly at the various Axis & Allies miniatures I had the exact same thought. Since upgrading to XP SP2 even the crappy old Hasbro computer game won't work anymore (not that it ever really worked in the first place). This game would rock on Live.

And so far I've completed one online game in Tee it Up. The other dozens of times someone has always quit partway through. They need to patch it so you can keep playing after some jackhole jumps to preserve his precious ranking.

I wonder if that d-listing is still going down with this new redesign. I assume it is designed around the amount of content they offer now. It would be silly to just d-list games because they can.

I realized this afternoon why they've been working so hard on that DRM tool. I'm sure MS is banking on people lapping up those cheaper hard drives.

It's not listed, but it did just auto-download onto my system... yep... it sucks.

Reminds of an Atari 2600 game... Combat flavor....

Not the hard drives alone, since that's just a transfer cable's job. I think the DRM solution is just a nicety :)

You're right, nothing's tied to the HDD.

Is no one else interested in the original Banjo? Just me? People need to make that a day one purchase so that sometime down the line we can get Blast Corps. and Jet Force Gemini.

Decker 07-17-08 12:10 AM

I've always wanted to play B&K. Never had a Nintendo console and that was one that I really wanted to try. I did play the GBA game and it sucked, but I won't hold that againt Rare -- I never saw a non-first-party GBA game that didn't suck.
Anyway, sure I'll buy that one first day.

MS has stated that the reason they were doing the delisting was due to limitations of the dashboard in displaying a large amount of content. This redesign alleviates some of that, and they said in an interview that they probably won't need to go through with the delisting process now.

Which is good and asinine at the same time. This new dash had to have been in the works when they made that d-listing announcement. If they new the redesign would alleviate that problem, why bother getting gamers up in arms in the first place?

I agree...unless they try to charge 20 bucks for it....

With all this tabletop stuff coming to live, I wish there was a way they could bring Heroclix to live as well. I've always wanted to give that a try, but could never get into how much you have to pay to get started. But then, if it came to live they would try to monetize booster packs and shit, and I'm just too cheap for that noise.

Joystiq has some hands-on impressions of Castle Crashers: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/jo...stle-crashers/

They say it'll be out "before 9/21", but I'm not sure if that's just factoring in the Fall Equinox as a barrier for a previous "Summer 2008" announcement that has no merit anyway.

I'll buy five of it (for others) if it means we'll get Blast Corps.

Thanks! I'll take one.

That would be cool. I know there is a place online where you can play Creepy Freaks (essentially the same game but more aimed at kids with a light horror theme). They did do a Mageknight DS game so something like that would be awesome on Live.

I'll take one :) I've never played BK. :jawdrop:

^ You're missing one of the few N64 platformers that didn't feel entirely generic!

But that was largely thanks to the fact it came out before the platform was flooded with em.

I think at that point I was more involved in playing Zelda or Starfox when going single player, or FIFA on the PS when friends were around.

I just tried Double D Dodgeball. Holy hell. I guess it's official -- if they're charging 800 points for that complete piece of crap, I'm guessing you'll never see another 400 point game again. I'm floored -- it really is a bad 2600 game. I deleted that demo so fast it made my head spin. Bliss Island, I appologize from the bottom of my heart -- you were very awful as well, but at least you had the decency to charge only 400 points for the full game.

pinata242 07-19-08 02:33 AM

Does that officially make Yaris a Saint?

I will totally agree with this I didn't post at first because I thought I was missing something and didn't want to bitch and look like an idiot I thought it was going to be like you know dodgeball not that tank game from the 2600

They could have at least given us Double Ds to look at while playing....

Decker 07-19-08 09:18 PM

I was curious so I checked the 360 voice blog to see how many of those users bought the full game. Care to guess?
Spoiler:
44
.
That's a terrible purchase rate, but still higher than I expected.

Spicollidriver1 07-19-08 09:34 PM

I bet a lot of those are the idiots that buy everything

God, they'd have to be. I thought MS had very exacting standards and that's why we have to wait so long for the AAAA titles like Street Fighter II HD Turbo and Bioninc Commando. If broken crap like Double D, Bliss Island or Rocky & Bullwinkle make it through, I think pretty much anything will.
