*raises hand* I actually hate Sublime. I can't say I've ever enjoyed anything they've done...

According to the Wikipedia page for Guitar Hero 4:

Project director Brian Blight claims that they have "a pretty even split between the '80s, '90s, and classic rock" with a "good amount of emerging bands".
So here's hoping. One of my bigger problems with the series is the lack of what can be defined as "classic rock," so this upcoming addition to the series should (presumably) make up for that.

The 80's tanked because of the price tag. If that would've been released for $30, like it should've been, it would've sold crazy numbers. Also, why no 360 release? GH2 was on fire on the 360, and it would've sold HUGE amounts!! I even considered buying a PS2 & GH1 just so I could get the 80's.

I dont quite understand the difficulty issues with GHIII. But I never owned GH1 or 2.

From my understanding Jordan from GH2 is nearly impossible more so than TTFaF.

I also believe the effects pedal is the new feature. Which will bring a new level of difficulty having to coordinate that into the chordings. There is no other option that makes sense.

Then things will really get insane. Just how many songs actually require you to mash the effects pedal like a mad man? "Bulls on Parade" is the only song that comes to mind currently.

But since this a just a game I realize and accept the fact that all "expert" songs in GH4 will have pedal mashing even if the actual song performance doesnt.

XavierMike 05-15-08 10:50 AM

That just gave me the visual of mashing the pedal while playing Desporado. Ha!

The difficulty level doesn't matter. I don't mind hard songs, as long as the charts make sense and fit the song. GHIII's charts don't do that.

Tanked relative to other GH numbers, but GH sold very well across gaming.

Hopefully zero REQUIRE it, otherwise that renders 7 million Les Pauls useless without getting addtional equipment. You wouldn't be able to pick up the game only and play. That would be a horrible decision on their part. If it is required, they'd have to pack the pedal in with the game to use with existing guitars for those that don't want or need a new bundle.

I used to like them, a lot. But now, every damn time I forget my ipod and have to rely on the radio I hear fucking Sublime, every fucking time. If it's not them, it's cocksucking Offspring.

Funny, the LP I own has a "special" port already built on the bottom. It this not on all of them? I have Wii BTW.

Not really a horrible decision. If the pedal isnt plugged in then the pedal notes dont show. Simple.

But there may be a level above expert that requires you to have it if you want to achieve it. That may tick people off but I dont think it would hurt the game. Besides its something to strive for.

I can tell this is a really sore spot with you :)

Has Offspring made anything since "Come out and play"?

Self Esteem and Gotta Get Away (personal favorite) were big hits. Don't forget about The Kids Aren't Alright. That's an awesome song and would be fantastic in either Guitar Hero 4 or Rock Band.

Radio just pisses me off. There are so many amazing bands out there that deserve to be played, but they'd rather fall back on songs and play them constantly.

Here in town theres a station that they claim to be "different" for an alternative station, but it's the same old shit day in day out. Coldplay, Offspring, Weezer. For fucks sake play something different, and branch out and really be different - not just different because your station manager is a Brit so when he says something it has an accent. Fuck.

Primal scream would be great for a full band type song. I love the Crue. If I don't listen to some crue like once a week I feel like I haven't accomplished anything.

With the GH4 drumset I'll finally be able to play DTXMania somewhat!

Oh wait, I suck at that game.

Toss my name in as another one who hates Sublime. I've hated them since the first time I heard them.

Gerry P. 05-15-08 05:32 PM

I never got into heroin, so I never got into Sublime.

tedbrogen 05-19-08 02:37 AM

I also hate Sublime and have since before their lead singer killed himself or overdosed on herion, whichever happened.

The Eagles also do nothing for me.

Van Halen would be a selling point, but haven't they already been on one or two of the games (their cover of that Kinks song is on GH2 for sure).

I enjoy Linkin Park, but they dont seem like they have a lot of songs they would be all that great on guitar, bass, or drums.

Also, zero chance of compatibility with rock band, as didn't the GH makers try to release a patch for PS3 that would allow you to use GH guitars for Rock Band on PS3 but the Rock Band creators blocked its release?

Just the opposite. The Rock Band crew made the patch so PS3 LPs would work and the GH peopled blocked the patch.

 Ted Motherfucking Nugent in GHIV!* Joystiq

Can't wait, I've been asking for Nuge since I got into these games last fall.

*of course this is another rock star talking games, so it might end up being DLC for GHIII

So definite    to Stranglehold.
