That's brilliant. Gamestop sells Amazon gift cards?

Absolutely. Mine had a giant rotating gift card display full of all kinds of gift cards.

But yeah, nice to trade for credit and use it to buy shit at Amazon. Been doing the same with my BB Reward Zone certificates. Paid off my pre-order buying Amazon gift cards at other retailers.

Wait, they sell amazon gift cards? I have like 200+ in credit there that I have been saving for games.

 Mad dash to GS tomorrow.

Technically they are Amazon Kindle cards, but they work on anything on Amazon. They look like this:

Oh I know what they look like. I do that same trick at best buy.

Coming from GameStop...

GameStop regularly receives feedback from our PowerUp members regarding old titles they would us like to bring back, such as vintage games like Xenoblade Chronicles. We were recently able to source a limited number of copies of this title to carry in our stores and online.

In fact, we have sourced several more vintage titles that we will be hitting stores in the coming months, including Metroid Prime Trilogy.

As always, our pricing for these games is competitive and is based on current market value driven by supply and demand. PowerUp Pro members always receive a 10% discount and earn PUR podints on pre-owned purchases.

Goddamn them. I still have my sealed copy (never bothered to play it...)
I was going to eBay it soon, but now I might not bother.

Xenosaga is worse if only because it was a shared exclusive with Nintendo. What next, they start holding back preorder bonuses and then sell them off "at market prices?"

On a side note, why would Nintendo reprint these just to allow outright scalping? Or is this coming from some warehouse or something?

Also, bring on digital distribution (just don't make it mandatory). If this game were available digitally, at least people could play it for a reasonable price, and the collectors can have at it at whatever price.

I was curious about the Xenoblade Chronicles as our store has received multiple copies of it and with that price it's quite noticeable. The Metroid Prime trilogy is just as weird as when it was originally released it only came in steelbook form but the ones being sent to Gamestops all have a regular white Wii case. Now after a certain amount of time we delete new skus and use the new games we have left and sell them as used. For instance Zombie U. You can't buy a Zombie U at gamestop new anymore. All new gamed were opened and now sell as used.

I traded in a few games today, didn't get raped quite as badly as I thought I would.

Got $23 for my copy of Killzone (PS4) which was nice (paid $25 for it a few weeks ago). $14 a piece for Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls which I also got on sale so it wasn't too bad.

All that to buy a fucking $60 game controller. WTF.

I'm not sure if that's incredibly funny or incredibly sad

eBay would've fetched you more.

If you don't want to go through the eBay hassle, I highly recommend Glyde.

I generally agree but checking the prices not too bad. Beyond Two Souls and Last of Us fetch about $20 a piece on the ol' eBay (add shipping) and KillZone Shadow Fall I probably could have got $25 - $30 for. For something small like this, I can't complain.

So I'm out maybe $15, but with no trips to the post office and I don't have to wait several weeks for my money to clear. So in this particular case, I'm good with it. Glyde would have netted me $0.94 more than GameStop.

Now when I sell my 60gb PS3 I will put that on eBay or find another service.

Went to get a game yesterday. Before the cashier grabbed the game from the drawer he asked me 4 times if I wanted to renew my rewards account. No thank you. No thanks. No thanks. No thank you. He finally got the game and not only was it an opened "new" copy, but they didn't even have the original cover art for it. He just put it in an old case with some generic Gamestop insert. I asked if they had a new copy and he said this was the last one. I laughed a bit and said no thanks.

No thanks, Gamestop.

It still all boils down to if they would accept that as a 'new' return two weeks from now. If the answer is 'no' then it's not a new copy.

With GCU at BB why would anyone go to GS?

i'm slowly moving toward BB for purchased games. thing is, Gamestop usually has better trade in values for games w/ their frequent 30 and 40% bonuses, which is why I used them frequently in the past.

Opened and not even the correct artwork... that would be considered "acceptable" on ebay or amazon... Wonder if the disc had scratches on it.

Best Buy has been my go to for games the past year or 2, but I just realized I had $9.xx credit left on my GS account. I think I'll just pick up a PSN card next time I'm passing by a store. I haven't bought anything there in a long time.

Best Buy has had some great trade in deals as well. You just have to wait for the 50-100% bonus to come around (which is quite often really). You also get the extra 10% and double RZ points with GCU.

I wouldn't be surprised. They store the games in a paper envelope and I'm sure they've been removed several times for free rentals for the employees.

I purchased an inexpensive "new" game once from GameStop. I believe it was $14.99 and brought the display case to the counter and low and behold it was the last copy. So they dug in their drawer and pulled out the envelope. I asked them if they had a new sealed copy in stock. The guy said no, this is our last one. I told him, but that's not a new copy. It's been opened. He said, it's never been used, what's the big deal?

I really wanted the game and said okay, I'll take it and luckily it worked fine. But, I agree as soon as the seal is broken, it's used product and should be sold as such. I would never buy a $60 game sold as new in that manner though.

I only buy new releases, released that day/week, from GS, and never have this issue. I don't remember ever buying anything else from GS.

The problem is (and I'm sure it's been stated before in this thread): how do you know that they just broke the seal and stored the game there? That the game wasn't taken home by employees, or worse traded in earlier?

Also, how many last copies do they have? It's something that should happen fairly irregularly and yet almost everyone runs into this situation at Gamestop. How is that possible?

Last time I was in a GameStop years ago and attempted to buy a game to have the whole "its our last copy, here let me get it out of this paper envelope." I asked how it could be considered a "new" game and the manager explained that "we don't get any promo cases or items from the vendors, so we have to open an actual game to display the case on our wall. We can't put out an actual sealed game because it would be stolen, that's why all our game cases are empty." Blah, blah, blah. There are ways around it, but then they wouldn't be able to let employees "rent" those games and then still sell it as new.
