Do others use a screen protector on their DS? I have one on my PSP since it's so scrach prone, but I never thought to put one on the DS since it folds up. Does that lower screen get scratched from the stylus?

Yeah, pretty much. It's supposed to be scratch resistant (and it is, under normal conditions) but a speck of dust can get in the way and do some damage. Also some games like Elite Beat Agents and The World Ends With You are so stylus intensive that it's just asking for trouble.

Nope, don't use any screen protectors on my DS. However, I do use this fancy stylus that protects the screen:

I'm slowly getting addicted to Art Style: Aquia.

Once you get a few levels in and things start to get hectic, the game becomes delicious.

$15 for a stylus? man, you're loaded

it doesn't say it protects the screen. Frankly, i don't know how a stylus protects the screen. Perhaps damage less?

Re: Official Nintendo DS Thread VIII: 65 Million Strong.. and Growing

I've had one of those pdapanache styli for about a year and a half, and I love it. It's heavy and took some time to get used to but I can't go back to a cheap plastic one again. The price is a bit high, but I'd buy another when the time comes.

Unfortunately since mine is so old, the notch that holds it in the DS is wearing thin so it has a habit of falling out at random.

Yeah I love my pdapanache stylus. After many long Meteos sessions, I can't see any scratches on the screen.

I've always used the stock stylus for my phatDS and DS Lite and have had zero scratches on it. Guess I need to ply more

Alrighty, I did the GameStop B2G1 deal today and got Children of Mana, Legacy of Ys, and Retro Game Challenge. Hopefully those first two will be something I'll enjoy. I have no clue why I bought them. I don't know anything about them at all.

Re: Official Nintendo DS Thread VIII: 65 Million Strong.. and Growing

I picked up 3 more casual games today for the B2G1. Lux Pain (it got horrible reviews, but I'm giving it a shot), Slingo Quest and Mystery PI. My wife can't get enough of the search and find games and she is a big Slingo fan. I'll try them out as well at some point.

So far I've played some of Lux Pain and it seems ok to me. It is an interactive novel so there isn't a ton of actual game. The translation was apparently done in Japan so it has some nice grammatical errors sprinkled throughout. I dig this kind of thing, but I have no doubt most would hate it. I'm hoping to find copies of Retro Game Challenge and Time Hollow while the B2G1 is going on.

For the budget minded don't forget about Best Buy's Sunday deal. Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and Tecmo Bowl are both $10. NG is the better of the two, but I loved both of these and recommend them highly for $10.

GTA Chinatown Wars is $20 this week at Best Buy. Picked up a copy and there were only 2 left so I guess this price point got a few DS owners to pick it up. Also, finally got a copy of Chrono Trigger on DS. No idea when I have time to start it though.

I'm heavily debating Chinatown Wars, but I get so bored with the console games. I bought GTA IV and played for about 15 hours and haven't touched it since.

I'm really liking it after the first 5 or so missions. I finished GTA IV, but was really burned out by the time I was done. However, it seems a lot more fun playing on the DS. More of a back to basics kind of GTA, but with the usually great polish. They carried over cool stuff like autosaves and the GPS.

I was really enjoying Phantom Hourglass when I first started playing, then I had to return to the dang temple for the first time. Now having to go back there for the 5th time, I simply have no desire to finish the game. What a horrible horrible thing to put in an otherwise great game.

Really? I thought it was pretty fun going back and finding more rooms and levels to access.

that's the Nintendo way i guess... if you think that was bad, then you will not like Super Paper Mario at all. I have no problem recycling materials like Z:PHG's castle dungeon (each time you get more sands so that you can go deeper).

Re: Official Nintendo DS Thread VIII: 65 Million Strong.. and Growing

Chinatown Wars is excellent. I would go so far as to say I'm enjoying it more than GTA IV. The hook for me is Dope Wars. This was a game I was addicted to back on my old Palm PDA and the way they have integrated it in this game is fantastic. They also have the whole place open from the start so you can go all over Liberty City to move drugs and make cash. I've spent most of my time so far on making money, goofing around and buying up safehouses and honestly this is what is fun about GTA.

The missions have been decent so far with clever uses of the touch screen and I'm adjusting pretty well to the driving. I am stuck right now on the mission where you have to run and defuse the bombs on three cars. That part is easy, but getting back to all three to kill the gangsters just isn't happening for me, but maybe I'm missing something on it. Edit: Yep I was leaving too fast. You can take these guys out before going to the next bomb to save time.

A new take on the series, but I'm excited to get anything from Ace Attorney that I can.

Luckily the stylus is the same size from the DS lite to the DSi. Not so between the DS fat to DS lite.

My sister actually got one for me as a gift two years back. As I said though, after owning one I'd totally buy one if need be. It's no different than dropping money on any other accessory. Just like swapping out your PS3 drive, the one that came with the system is fine but you wanted to enhance your experience. This is no different.
