So is this turning out to be the most decent MK game since.. MK3?

It's funny because to me the gameplay looks almost identical to all of the 3D MK games on the PS2. I guess that will get overlooked since there's comic characters in it this time.

Got no problem with that

XavierMike 09-30-08 01:47 PM

Ditto,

But I do like the sound of the new control the fight while you fall feature.

DthRdrX 09-30-08 02:29 PM

The gameplay looks like a huge improvement over MK4.

boredsilly 09-30-08 04:35 PM

Did the other 3d MK's work on a 2d plane like this one? I thought they were more free roaming.

It was the side-stepping action that turned me away from MK4. The only one I've played since was the last one. Didn't care for what they did with the fatalities.

XavierMike 10-01-08 09:40 AM

Yep, the fatality system in Armageddon was my least favorite part. They should have had an option to use the old fatalities as well.

DthRdrX 10-09-08 03:47 PM

Luthor

PopcornTreeCt 10-25-08 06:52 PM

Joker's fatality too good to be true. Looks like this will be a T-rated game.

That looks awesome! I just hope they don't cop out on the endings (Like Soul Calibur IV).

I never played the last one but I've heard they screwed up the fatalities by having you make them up on the fly or something. What exactly happened?

That's exactly what happened. I think it was called "Kreate a Fatality." Basically, you hit <-<-X for one move (i.e. arm rip), ->->X for another, etc. The sucky thing was that everyone had the same arsenal of fatality moves, so there really was no difference in the characters, which was what used to make MK fatalities interesting.

XavierMike 10-31-08 09:02 AM

That trailer looks great. I'm really looking forward to this.

That's retarted! And that's what they chose to do with what was supposed to be the definitive sendoff to the series? -ohbfrank-

I wonder if it was a memory thing. I'm sure that took less than the 100+ original fatalities.

Yep, and when I finally played it I was disgusted. I wasn't really big on the weapons either but it the fatality system sucked.

XavierMike 11-14-08 08:28 AM

Anyone else planning on picking this up on Sunday? I'm excited, but I would like to see some reviews first. I'm tempted to get the PS2 three pack as well since Deception is the only one I've played.

Goldblum 11-14-08 11:36 AM

MK Armageddon is good aside from the aforementioned fatality nonsense.

XavierMike 11-14-08 12:29 PM

That is what kept me away. That and the text only endings. I was hoping for a better wrap up to this edition of the franchise.

mdc3000 11-14-08 05:17 PM

I've got a preorder in for this one...really hope it delivers. All the vids I've seen make it look like a shitload of fun.

Giantrobo 11-14-08 05:50 PM

I think I'm going to wait. To be honest I want Mirror's Edge more than anything out right now. Also, I'm not really into fight games and the DC characters are the only reason I'm even interested in this.

But don't fight games generally price drop quickly anyway? A wait might be best.

First Review OXM 8.5 Rating

I didn't expect good reviews but if they're all like that...I'll be picking it up.

boredsilly 11-14-08 06:45 PM

I'm going to restart my gamefly account to burn through a couple of games I'm itching to play, so I will be renting this. If it feels good and seems like it can have some life, I'll buy a copy down the road.

RyoHazuki 11-15-08 01:52 AM

I played it some tonight and didn't care for it at all. The controls seem sluggish, all characters are pretty much the same besides their special moves, and there's way too much QTE thrown in there. Color me disappointed.

Goldblum 11-15-08 08:04 AM

It's either this or Call of Duty 5 that I'll pick up.
