Rumor: MS to announce third party Xboxes, new games at E3 Posted Jun 26th 2008 11:45AM by Richard Mitchell Filed under: Rumors GeekPulp reports that some interesting things have come up during their attempts to schedule Microsoft appointments for E3 (note to self: schedule Microsoft appointments for E3). According to GeekPulp, Microsoft's appointment list is headed up by two slots for "Surprise Games" and a third slot listed simply as "Surprise Thing." We have to admit, we're really not sure what these surprise games are. We'd like to thing one could be Alan Wake -- it certainly would be a surprise to see it come out of hiding -- but we get the feeling they will be unannounced titles (Lips perhaps?). As for the surprise thing, that could be Avatars, Microsoft's answer to Nintendo's Miis. The article also mentions an EGM rumor that Microsoft will soon begin allowing third parties to manufacture 360 hardware. In other words, companies other than Microsoft could cram 360 hardware into their products. Similar rumors were swirling around late last year, saying that a new "standard chassis system" had been created that would allow 360 hardware to be added to HDTVs. Could Microsoft be shooting for the Trojan Horse strategy of the PS3, getting consumers to buy their game console because it's built into another piece of desirable hardware (in the PS3's case, a Blu-Ray player)? Gasp! is that where the Blu-Ray 360 rumors keep coming from, a Blu-Ray player that just happens to play 360 games, too? The head reels at all the possibilities. Whatever Microsoft's new "thing" is, we're definitely intrigued. Very bizarre. But I guess if their console keeps falling apart, might as well outsource it.

Possible price drop for the premium down to $299 starting 7/6/08 according to a leaked Kmart circular
|
Pre-E3 price drop? Sounds good.
Also, good thing speedy isn't involved with the K-Mart ads. I'd hate to see a repeat of the last time this happened :) |

I just tried and got to the second step, then it said the page was not available.

Not that the demo will hold any surprises for you if you've played any of the other games, but Maj. Nelson posted that a Lego Indiana Jones demo is up. Should be pretty cool to check out at least.
I was kinda hoping we'd see a GH: Aerosmith demo, but with only 40 tracks, giving 5 away in a demo would probably be a bad idea. |
More like 31 tracks...18 Aerosmith, 12 bad covers, and 1 boss battle. There are, however, 9 more in the vault including 5 terrible Joe Perry songs.

- Aerosmith has 25 tracks including what's in the vault - Joe Perry has 4 tracks (3 in the vault, and a boss battle) - of the other 12 songs, only 4 are covers (Matt Hopple, Black Crowes, NY Dolls, & the kinks) If you are keeping count that is 41 tracks, not 31. :) |

Don't plan on picking it up for quite a while though. And I suppose that Dream On free download for GH3 was sort of a "demo" in a sense. |
No need to get defensive :)
I already beat the game and got my achievements out of it. It is by far the worst Guitar Hero game, but i suppose if you LOVE Aerosmith it's nice. As for the covers, maybe it just seemed like they were covers since they were some unpopular song choices anyways. Also, you don't really need a demo for the game...just play GH3 and pretend it's some random Aerosmith song, but easier to play :) |
If you think '"Personality Crisis" or "All Day and All of the Night" are bad songs, you are officially

Never heard of "Personality Crisis" but I assume I played it if it's in the game, therefore it's obviously not memorable. "All Day and All of the Night" and the Run DMC stuff were cool.

The New York Dolls were the fathers of glam rock and the grandfathers of punk rock, and Johnny Thunders has a legitimate claim to the title of greatest guitarist of all time. If you like rock even a little bit, do yourself a favor and pick up their first album (their second and only other album is, sadly, out of print). Edit: I just remembered that the surviving Dolls reunited and released an album last year. It's not bad, but it's not in the same league as the two albums they released in the 70s. |
Gamestop.com has Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts listed for $39.99. Could be SRP, could be a mistake. Kudos go to mrcheapo11 on CAG. Here's the thread.
I'm down for one at that price. *edit - Amazon is showing $60 so if you are interested you better hop on it just in case. |
Thanks for the heads up, definitely worth it if it can be had for that price.

July 2, 2008 12:35 PM PDT Rumored Xbox 360 dashboard update to use motion control Posted by Jeff Bakalar The future is now (Credit: Kotaku.com)With Sony releasing version 2.40 of the PlayStation 3 firmware today, it's no surprise that talk about a new Xbox 360 dashboard update has surfaced. Aside from the normal list of technical updates, this rumored dashboard update will supposedly incorporate an entire new graphical user interface as well. Right now reports point towards a sort of 3D experience, deviating from the current "blade" system. There's also talk that this alternative GUI will take advantage of some sort of motion-control device yet-to-be-announced by Microsoft. Kotaku describes the new interface as a nod to the control scheme in the film Minority Report--and now it seems that they were really on to something. They're reporting that the company responsible for the new dashboard design involves the man who actually helped create the motion-controlled effects in the 2002 film. Small world. We'll get you the latest details on the rumored new 360 interface as they come. While you're waiting for that, why not tell us what you'd like to see in it? |
