Rock Band has 36/45 songs I've heard on the radio. Most all of these were at some point in my life prior to GH coming out. Of the 9 that I have never heard on the radio, only 3 bands I am familiar with.

If it were up to me, I'd delete Welcome Home and GGaHT in a heartbeat from the RB playlist. I don't replay those songs and only by going thru BWT am I forced to play those.
I understand. There are songs on the RB disc I wish I could delete sometimes too, like the Fall Out Boy song. But on the other hand, I can respect why it is in there because the drum part is quite challenging.

It's great that everyone can play the game the way they want to, so cheers for that. In fact I wish they would allow you to deselect DLC from coming up in random setlists, maybe people would be willing to experiment more.

Just got back from playing the Thrash Pack over at a buddy's house. Man, that was great! I only did bass and vocals (as he's better on guitar and way better on drums than me).

Thoughts:
D.O.A. - Pretty easy bassline, very easy on Vox (98% expert first time). It was really fun to do the death metal growls though, and I've finally found a way to do it without shredding my throat.

Blinded by Fear - Bass was still fairly easy, same with vox.

Thrasher - Strumtastic! I was more exhausted after playing this one time than I was doing the Endless Setlist. We ended up doing this one twice in a very short period and I did much better the second time, but I don't think I ever made it over a 3x. I don't know if I'll ever pass it on Guitar, but it'll be damn fun to try when I get my box back.

I just dont get it... That doesnt even look for to play. Hard songs like RTHH's of WGFA are hard, but this is more just annoying.

It's fun to play, it's just not fun to figure out.

I was just looking through the DLC credits, and we haven't had a cover song since 1/29 (Coheed and Rush). That's been seven straight weeks of master tracks, which is pretty damn awesom! I'm not speculating that it's the end of covers by a long shot, just interesting.

...and coincidentally the last two tracks I was interested in.

I agree with this. I don't think Harmonix should let you delete the songs entirely from the game (unless it is DLC, or something), but some kind of playlist/permissions manager for the songs would be great.

You can always delete the DLC off your hard drive before going into BWT, if some songs scare you, and then redownload them when you wanna play solo or whatnot.

I don't understand the reason that people are scared of certain songs in BWT. I mean, you have other people that can save you if you fail out. As long as you have players that are aware of their surroundings, they can activate overdrive when someone is getting in the red, or in some cases, let them fail out and wait until the whole song is about to fail before bringing them back. All songs are easier to pass as a band, because anyone who activates overdrive boosts the whole band back to green pretty much instantly. You also have the addition of unison bonuses, which means more overdrive for everyone as well.

A question about the unison bonus, does the singer ever get this? When i have played 3 player i have seen the instruments getting it but have never noticed the vocalist being included.

Pretty sure singer is included in Unison Bonuses. It should give every member that got the unison an extra quarter bar of overdrive. They're probably not as frequent on vocals, but I'm sure they're there.

Shagrath: They're not. The Unison Bonus icons are always G/D/B. Never vocals.

(I refuse to call it vox).

Fair enough. I guess I was wrong. I'm probably just not as aware of overdrive when I'm doing vocals, as I'm usually going crazy.

I've changed my playing style a lot over the past couple of weeks. Before, I was trying to do my best in a song technically, but now I'm more into just having a good time (headbanging, power stance, dipping the mic stand, etc.). I still end up scoring in the 90+% range most of the time, which is good enough for me.

If I ever get a camcorder, I'll be sure to plaster my awesome stage presence videos all over YouTube.

Unfortunately for me, I don't have friends come over. They're not gamers and I'm tv challenged (I don't have a nice big hdtv). So I am going thru BWT by myself.

My main reason is that I have a hard time concentrating on both vox and guitar if I don't know the song well. And for songs I don't enjoy, I'm less likely to take the time to learn them. I usually try to glance at the vox once in a while to make sure I'm in pitch, but 98.8% of the time I'm looking at the guitar track.

Gotcha! I always forget about those people who don't have people to play with. Have you tried to get your friends to play? Even if they're not gamers, most people still can get into Rock Band or Guitar Hero. My wife is one of the only people I've met that doesn't really care for Rock Band, and that's just because she's gotten sick of rhythm games and isn't really that much into music to begin with. She might come around again sometime. At least I can hope she will.

I have friends that play GH, but basically I'd have to haul my XBox and Rock Band gear to them. I just don't see us getting together often enough to justify that or in creating a BWT group with them. When I had friends come over to play GH on my PS2 (which they loved to play), they only came over maybe 4 - 5 times a year.

I play almost everyday as a stress reliever. It takes me back to when I had a real drum set and would just play without any worries. So to stress out playing BWT and having a mystery set list be Welcome Home and GGaHT on expert isn't exactly a cup of tea. I love the achievement aspect of it, but I would rather struggle with songs I know than songs I don't care for.

Now my wife and i aren't nearly as good as you guys so we are just playing on medium and sometimes hard but we have all but given up on BWT for the reasons mentioned. My wife gets super frustrated trying to go to hard drums and she hates not "progressing" due the the cap on fans in lower difficulties. So now we just play quickplay just to use it to relax and have fun.

I do wish the fan cap was removed though so we could feel like we "beat" the game on a lower difficulty.

I'm going through BWT myself right now. It sucks when the OXM songs pop up under mystery sets. Most I can fumble my way through, but those suck by yourself.

I'm at the fan cap, but I'm continuing anyway on Med/Med Guitar/Vocals. I could go higher on songs I know but if Bang Camaro or one of a handful of oddballs pop up, I'm screwed. I actually managed 23/25 stars in a 5 song mystery set the other night. I felt pretty good. I got extremely lucky and got 4 songs I knew really well. The oddball screwed me up.

I'm pretty sure none of the blue dot songs are ever selected for mystery setlists. You'd think it would be pretty easy for Harmonix to allow us to blue-dotify any other songs that we don't want to have to play.

A question about Endless Setlists:
Is it all the songs you have (main songs, bonus, and dlc) or just the main 45 or all the songs on the disc?

It's just the main 45. But that's still over 5 hours long!

I haven't gotten to do the endless setlist yet, but my understanding was it was all 58 songs on the disc, which includes the bonus tour. Not true?

Anyone have any issues with the microphone being recognized by the game? It doesn't matter when I plug it in, the game doesn't recognize it.
