So the combat isn't turn-based/random-encounters?

So I've been hearing this game requires a special accessory to play.

Here's a picture of the accessory in question:

Between this and Persona 3 I should have some fun J-games to play for a while. Can't say I'm crazy about the $10 Square-Enix DS tax, though

Ha, I had a message on my answering machine to pick mine up and I didn't even check it until about 8, I dismissed it when I got home thinking it'd be another charity hanging up since there wasn't a person to annoy. So I only got to play for about an hour or so last night.

BUT I AM LOVING IT.

There is a lot of shit to get through at the beginning though, a lot of stuff that needs to be explained.

All Square-Enix DS games have been $40 lately.

This pretty much guarantees I won't get it until it drops in price. $35 is my absolute high limit for DS games.

I've heard this game is on the difficult side. Is it hard and/or frustrating in any way?

Square-Enix is release great DS games but most of them MSRP $34.99 - $39.99. They should lower MSRP $29.99 and the game will sell much better. Most peoples do not drop over $35 for DS instead they wait till it drop down $20 or less.

So far, so good. But I don't know any more to be honest. If it's hard in any way it's frustrating, if it's easy in any way it's catering to the "casual" audience, so whatever. It's very disorienting focusing on the two screens at first but you can set the top screen to auto (which is super lame). I just got an item that lets you set an Easy Mode, but you get better experience and drops for higher difficulties.

The battles are awesome (manual mode, of course). The variety of the touch screen attacks is already amazing and I'm just getting started. It really seems like there's A LOT to this game if you want to dive deep into it.

I picked up a copy at Best Buy yesterday. Had to ask someone to dig it out of the back because they hadn't put it out yet. I won't get a chance to play until tomorrow, but I'm really looking forward to it. There hasn't been a DS game released I've been excited about for awhile.

I know w/ FF III in particular Target had it on sale on at least 2 occasions for $27.99 including one time within at least the first 6 weeks of release. Hopefully we see something similar.

Okay, I've had enough time with the game at this point. I was really uneasy at first. It's VERY overwhelming when you jump in. I thought, "Did I jump into this game that tries to do so much and do all of it with flair but ends up a complete mess?" It seems unthinkable to control both screens at once in battle (speaking on manual mode). It seems like there's just way too much to follow with the pins, food, items, etc. But it falls into place and now I get what following fashion trends does, I'm starting to score A and Star ranks on my battles in lightning time with my experience level set back to one (to incite loot multiplies). I'm starting to score sexy combos with various attacks using some of the best stylus attacks on the system and mastering trading attacks between Neku and Shiki for damage multipliers.

This is easily, easily my favorite DS game now. Everything about it rules times a zillion. Okay, the typical Square emo-brat main character isn't my flavor, but EVERYTHING else rules. The music, the style, the battles, the battles, the battles, the insane item system including the various pins, the stickers that continually add to gameplay elements to the game, the food, the fashion system, the incentive to fight more monsters and harder monsters with weaker characters to get more and rarer items, I'm in love.

I've been off the DS bandwagon (and the PSP bandwagon, for that matter) for a few months now, due to my BD/HD preoccupation. I saw several copies of TWEWY in the glass case behind the counter at EB Games today, and was immediately intrigued (yes, I judge books by their covers). I think I've pretty much decided I will be picking this up soon.

I thought was playing the game wrong too when I first tried it out last night. I still don't have the hang of playing the 2nd character on the upper screen just yet. I love the visuals and the soundtrack is amazing. I'm looking forward to playing more of the game this weekend when I can actually pay full attention to it.

So will I be hampered by my shitty DS screen? Like I have said I fucked it up where it's not accurate due to EBA. Is this game worth finally buying a new DS for?

Played this for about an hour and a half last night and most of my impressions are about the same. I've got my secondary character set to mid auto, but I've been getting the hang of sending the combo energy back and forth between the two. I still haven't hit the point where I can go to stores and get food and such. I'm already on Day 3 and I'm wondering if I'm missing something in that regard. But I've been messing around with the different pins and getting abilities and such, and it's really been a lot of fun. I do think Neku's closed off nature is a little too much, though. He's really an asshole at the beginning.

Thanks to speedy's heads-up, I think I'll be getting this via CC's 5/4 ad for $30 this weekend. Probably from BB because I have a gift card. I'll probably wait until Tuesday afternoon and pick up Crossword DS at the same time.

Can't wait to give it a shot. I guess I need to finish Apollo Justice finally.

I am just in love with this game's battle system. I've got my level set to one at all times. I am constantly battling groups of four Noise at once. I have my partner set to auto. And I'm still constantly getting the highest rating on my battle ranks. The satisfaction of getting like twenty pins at the end of a battle is just awesome. And getting like 3-4 times the PP experience, fantastic.
