Actually, he's right and you're wrong. Only some versions play PS2 games, but they all play PS1 games. In addition, using the lastest firmware, you can play those PS1 games on the PSP using remote play.

Looks like it, guess I really only cared about my PS2 games.

Well, I've been going back and forth between which model to buy, but if all models plays Playstation 1 games, then I'll keep my PS2 hooked up and use my PS3 to play PS1 and PS3 (for some reason, my PS2 wont "show" PS1 games over my projector, so I'm assuming PS3 will).

Makes sense, but honestly, I have no idea what anyone would need all that extra memory for, unless A) Sony is planning on introducing a Movie download or TIVO-type service or B) Sony plans to have developers all cache over 1 GB of memory for their games like Assassin's Creed does (shudder).

A new PS3 to compete with the Elite is a given. I have no idea why they didn't go with 160GB to begin with. HDDs are cheap.

I have a feeling you can kiss backwards compatibility goodbye for good though. If they are giving us 160GB and DS3 they will take something else away.

Probably the only thing missing will be the Spiderman 3 pack-in. My guess is it'll release at the current 80gig price.

I've read in recent months both are a good possiblity.

Netflix....game console partnership
PlayTV

I'd be very happy to see my PS3 playing Netflix streaming video.

Aslong as the bandwidth keeps up and my movie doesn't pause every 10 mins I will be happy. I hate "buffering".

Well, judging by the half-hour it took me to download a patch for Motorstorm, I'd assume that by the time your movie download was complete, the movie would be showing on HBO already.

That is why I will stick with my DVDs. Especially that way I don't have to pay per view. Unless netflixs set top boxes are unlimited views per month, but I still don't see how they will be able to handle that bandwidth yet. At least not in the states.

Wouldn't a download movie service compromize their push for blu-ray? PS3's in Europe have a dvr service, IIRC.

Importing it is no more than it will be when it comes out here.

Does anyone know if there is a master list of online IDs? It's telling me that I can't register tlwizard and I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if some asshat took my name.

Oh, and... I just got a PS3! Yay!

I doubt they publish a master list, likely you're trying to take some asshat's already registered name.

And welcome to the club!

That is my major complaint with the PS3. They do not offer demos for a LOT of the downloadable games. I may buy PAIN or Bowling, but no demos scares me, so I wait. The one good thing they have is SALES. Generally some of the downloadable games go on sale.

I'm not actually playing anything online at this point, but I finally got PSN to accept one of my choices for an online ID. I had the same problem TLwizard had in that everything I tried was already in use. I guess that's what I get for buying a PS3 so late. Maybe I'll try Warhawk.

Anyway, I'm 'BentMyWookie'.

If I ever get an online game, the two of us should take on the asshat duo of gromit and tlwizard. put them in their respectful places.

has it been announced what the msrp of the new dualshock 3's will be?

What's the price of the Sixaxis? $50? It won't be cheaper than that. I can even see them bumping it to $60.
