Is this normal?

I submitted my request for a new guitar on Tuesday and it was delivered on Thursday afternoon.

It looks likes the website is working again. I was able to put in my request for a replacement guitar.

I saw that Target has Rock Band for $149 this week. Tempted to use my 10% coupon to get an extra guitar and extra drumset.

Just put in a request for my first replacement guitar. The whammy bar stopped working last night. I'm just hoping the new one I get will be just as good concerning the strum bar and the frets. No problems there. Here's hoping.

xmiyux 02-17-08 12:13 PM

I was at the store this afternoon and saw them selling drums by themselves for RB. How new is this? I had yet to see it. I think they were 69 or 79$.

I think the standalone instruments just came out.

Questions on online multiplayer.

Got into a band the other day where the other two people were "JoeSmith" and "JoeSmith(1)". What does that mean? I thought every player on Live had to have Gold membership; so even if they're on the same 360, I should see two distinct tags (I would think).

Also, what determines who will be the leader on in online band quickplay?

Michael Corvin 02-17-08 12:50 PM

That means they are playing on the same system. JoeSmith would be the Gold member and JoeSmith(1) would be whomever is 2nd player on his system.

There's a few games you can do this, notably Halo 3, but you can't go on mic if you're not a Gold member.

I do this all the time with my friends in band quickplay.. I'll sing and play bass while they do guitar and drums.

That's why GHIII has succeeded so well.

Instead of playing Solo Mode, you should sing and play the guitar at the same time, like a real man. :rock2:

devilshalo 02-17-08 04:06 PM

Do you win ranked matches in either tug of war or score if the player quits early?

DVDChris 02-17-08 05:09 PM

no, it's very frustrating. Send me an invite if you want to do some of those modes.

I agree my mic stand is the best addition for this game.

SuprVgeta 02-18-08 12:35 PM

I'm jumped in on a PS3 and Rock Band yesterday with the Target sales going on and I must say that I am addicted to this game. (I've only played Guitar Hero a couple times over at friend's houses...). I'm just rocking through the solo mode on guitar and drums (drums rock btw!). Gonna have some friends over and jam with me here shortly.

Wouldn't be so manly when I'd have to sing on easy and guitar on medium.

I'm an old school "screen watcher" but I still doubt I could move my eyes from the fretboard to read lyrics at the same time.

Mike, you are making it harder than you need to.

When I do this, I either:

1) Play the songs I know the lyrics to; or

2) Hum the melody. The game doesn't require you to say the actual lyrics.

It's a challenge doing both at once. But very fun.

Michael Corvin 02-18-08 01:32 PM

I'll give it a whirl then assuming I can use the headset.

That's what I've done since November. I don't have anybody to play with locally, only time I've played with somebody else is the couple weekends my brother stayed with me. Still I just got the Hall of Fame induction thingy this weekend.

One piece of advice - I *think* a few times you'll have to both sing and play guitar on Hard (to get more fans, since you can max out your fans at Easy, then on Medium, and probably on Hard too...but, for example, if you play guitar on Hard and sing on Easy, you'll only get credit for Easy as far as getting fans is concerned), so don't do a few of the "Create Your Own Setlist" type gigs. Leave those for when you have to play on Hard to get more fans, since you can pick easier songs.

I sort of dug myself into a hole by using those all up.

But I think you're probably better at guitar than me anyways, so you shouldn't have much trouble. My biggest problem is I'd get mesmerized watching the guitar part and forget to start singing sometimes. :p

That sounds like a great tip.

Indeed, I would have never thought of that.

Mad Dawg 02-18-08 03:01 PM

BTW, in case anyone was still skeptical, the 3 leaked songs are in fact tomorrow's DLC, and will not be available as part of a pack.

That certainly lends credibility to the .bin file thing, although I kind of hate to imagine that if the March list pans out that could be the DLC list for a couple of months to come.

Tygan 02-18-08 03:02 PM

But can't you always go back and re-play a gig?

lordwow 02-18-08 03:11 PM

God I hope they release the Stones or some other Classic Rock next week.

Yeah, you can, but I'm 99% sure you don't get fans when you re-play it. So say you have gained all the fans you can on Medium, and then go play a gig on Medium. You will get whatever stars you earn, but no fans. Then when you are trying to get more fans to open more venues while playing on Hard, you won't be able to go back and play that gig to get fans. So basically save the easiest gigs (which is why I say the Create-a-Playlist ones, since you can choose songs easiest for you) for later in the game.

You can replay a gig and get more fans, unless you've reached the cap for that difficulty. We've gone through to get gold checks on stuff that we didn't have earlier (different people playing that were non-Expert), and we've gotten more fans. So it definitely works.
