I'm using a set of Vic Firth drum mutes that I cut down to fit the pads and I love them. There is much more action on the pad and it drastically cuts down on the noise.

I was pretty bummed to find that my BWT band gets no recognition on the leaderboards because it wasn't created under my guitarist's name. :(

Just wanted to drop another thanks to Shagrath and the DLC post. You are the Speedy1961 of the Rock Band thread.

Just got my second replacement drumset today, and the red and green pad on it are having sensitivity problems just like my other sets. I really wish their quality control wasn't complete shit. At least EA is still doing returns for everyone. Crossing my fingers that my third replacement is my final one.

PerryD 02-20-08 10:28 PM

Got my replacement guitar already (with the holiday on Monday, it only took one day). Very easy return, just pull out old guitar, put in new guitar, and flip mailing label. Hopefully they've updated the strum bar to last more than a few hours of playing.

OK I know us PS3 folk are in the minority here, but is it normal for the DLC to lag days behind the 360 DLC? I just checked and still no Sex Type Thing.

DLC hits XBL on Tuesday and PS3 on Thursday. Should be there at 3am EST.

Put my request in on 2/11 - replacement still hasn't even shipped.

Maybe it's because it's a PS3.

Noted - thanks.

I had my breakthrough on "Hard" guitar last night. Though I mostly still three star everything, I started five starring easy songs (Maps, Black Hole Sun) and then hit a wall with everyone's favorite -- Suffragette City. I hung with it for about 30% near the top of my meter then lost my fingering and died in a matter of seconds. Once I lose myself on the frets I don't recover well. I'm super excited for Sexy Type Thing tonight... but only after my Pens battle the Canadians, tho. Big game. Big game!

The last tier of hard is destroying me. I can only pass Train at the moment.

Gooter 02-21-08 09:02 AM

Leaderboards?

Sorry, another RB question. The wife and I deleted the band name we had chosen but now want it back. It says it is currently taken. A little research on the RB forums indicates that you can't reuse band names. Doh! So, now we're thinking to just use the same name and not be listed on the Leaderboards since we don't really care about the boards nor will we ever be ranked very high anyway.

Is there any other feature we will miss out on by using an existing band name?

Do you like/dislike/don't care for the Leaderboards?

Thanks

Are the different tiers supposed to correspond to difficulty? Because there's no way Black Hole Sun was harder than, well, anything.

Thanks a bunch! It's an honor to be in the same category as Speedy. :)

Not a lot going on Harmonix-wise out at GDC. They just have a small booth set up for employment purposes. I talked to a couple people there, but they're mostly HR. I heard that hmxsean is out here, so I'm going to try to get in contact with him today, if possible. Lots of booths have GHIII up on the expo floor, but I only saw one Rock Band on a small little LCD with huge amounts of overscan(!?). I could only see the bottom half of the pitch bar on vocals, so I had to guesstimate on the one song that I did play. I had to get my fix!!

You can sort the songs different ways. By name, genre, city, difficulty. I think it is the right bumper button.

If it's registering double hits and/or is a QM set, you can do this:

REL77 02-21-08 11:37 AM

is there a way in RB, when doing world tour quick play over the internet with just 2 people, to get your notes on the Right side, instead of the left side? Is there any way to do this?

 That "sock mod" has to be one of the most ghetto mods I have seen yet. I'll just keep returning them until I get one that is good.

I meant in the solo tour mode as you progress through different cities.

Ghetto yes, but, cheap, and, if it works for you, maybe worth it.

Don't laugh. I fixed my strum bar by stretching a pair of Hanes underwear (size small - that's very important) over my guitar and it's made a huge difference. Make sure the label is facing the back of the guitar, though. Otherwise it'll look stupid.

Supermallet 02-21-08 04:20 PM

Suffragette City is now taunting me once again, this time on expert. David Bowie is my favorite musical artist, so I can't blame him for the torture of playing that song in RB, so I shake my fist at Harmonix. :)

Oh, also, I can't make it past the HO/PO solo in Flirting With Disaster on Hard. It's the last song in the Hard career mode and it's killing me that I can't finish it.

That song is the Raining Blood of Rock Band. The last one I had on hard as well. The solo is a friggin' nightmare. Just gotta save up your overdrive and hope you pick up another one during the solo.

That's what happened to me as well. I was playing fine, then hit the HO/PO and I think I seriously shouted out WTF right before failing 5 seconds later.

Also, some really exciting news:

Portal's "Still Alive" announced as Rock Band DLC

Michael Corvin 02-21-08 07:08 PM

I guess I need to pop in Portal so I can hear in context before it hits Rock Band.
