Re: Burnout Paradise

It is similar to Showtime, but you only get one shot to cause damage. You can't infinitely flip your car, you only get one shot to do it.

Re: Burnout Paradise

One thing I truly miss from the old games is Crash. I'm surprised they never added it to Paradise. I'd even pay extra for it.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I recently bought this game and am enjoying it so far. What I didn't like was that the update for it was around 400 mb. I think it was mostly for the surf island which has to be purchased when I get there.

Ah ok. No wonder I´ve been playing recently and there are times I only keep listening to Beethoven or Mozart. Classical music rocks!

Re: Burnout Paradise

The time you save in not having to do up to 40 takedowns in Road Rage will more than make up for the time spent waiting for the patch to download.

Truth. My last 8 events for the elite license was Road Rage and I had to get 42 takedowns on the last 4 events. Pretty difficult, but on the last one I got so excited when I hit 42 I kept going and got 80 lol.

I noticed BP is able to download for $19.99..I can get it from Amazon for a total of $18.99..
Is their anything extra either way??
I'm leaning towards Amazon cause I'll save HD space..

No, it's the same game. I downloaded it, so it would be on the hard drive all the time, and I figured it might load faster too. It's only about 4GB, and that figure includes the extra content (which is pre-integrated with the 1.9 update).

In most cases, I prefer physical media so I can sell the disk or use it in future systems if I'm inclined. Paradise and Warhawk are the only two exceptions as they are small files and will NEVER be sold...so I'd probably just buy it (them) on PSN.

That said, I own both on disk.

Re: Burnout Paradise

the Burnout version I got came with bikes free. I'd rather have gotten the extra board or island or whatever....

Re: Burnout Paradise

Bikes are free for every version, and the Big Surf Island content is a steal at $13.

I wouldn't bother with Cops and robbers or any DLC cars other than the Knight Rider one.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I really enjoy the Back to the Future Delorean just because it's a hover-car.

Absolutely, but the toy version in the Big Surf Island pack is even cooler...same for the General Lee and Eco 1...but the full size KITT is worth having just from a performance standpoint.

I completely agree and have stated as much in previous threads ... though future use has not been a consideration of mine, selling and the ability to loan to others are huge for me.

Yup...call me old fashioned, but digital distribution feels like "renting" to me. At least with a disk, I feel like I own something.

Re: Burnout Paradise

For the 360 version, do I need to keep Update 1.7, 1.8, and 1.9 on my hard drive, or does 1.9 include everything? They total over 3 GB or so.

(I also much prefer owning a disk to digital distribution. I have bought some digital-only things but I'm never really comfortable with it.)

1.9 has everything. You can delete 1.7 and 1.8 to gain back your hard drive space.

Re: Burnout Paradise

Finally got all the jumps, smashes, and billboards. Needed some help for the last two jumps and the last smash.

Getting this bike license seems to be another time sink. A good one.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I would argue that the best reason for the physical media is that you can unlock all of the promo cars before downloading any updates. They aren't great cars, but it's now fun to drive a "Circuit City" mobile in the crash sections...

True. I have the Circuit City, Best Buy, Gamestop and Wal-mart cars. None are really worth a damn, but hey...free cars...and some of them you don't get better versions of till much later in the game.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I'll argue against the physical media. It means you don't need to have a disc in there and can play it anytime, even if another game or movie is in the drive.

I thought the bike license didn't take too much time at all. Night/day road rules are the hardest, not because they are actually challenging just you have to do all 64 twice. I think I knocked most of them out in like 2-4 hours one night. Then BSI rules take like 10 min, but they don't get you anything

Re: Burnout Paradise

I thought the bikes were kind of boring. Many of the events aren't that challenging, there's nobody to race against, no boosts, and some of the rides go on for a long time (like 6-10 minutes). Plus, you end up going more conservatively because you can hardly hit something without being thrown off the bike.

Re: Burnout Paradise

A look at the DLC that could have been. Too bad we'll never see any of that come to fruition. It's interesting that the freeburn challenges proved to be the most popular online gameplay mode.
