Re: Burnout Paradise
I'd like to see Criterion make a Burnout Kart game with missiles and oil slicks. I'd guess they could put one together with the Paradise engine with a minimum of effort.
And I'd much rather see them make another Burnout than another Need for Speed. The only advantage I can think of is licensed cars.

Re: Burnout Paradise
I'm finally getting to play the Island, and it's the embodiment of everything I love about paradise. It's like the quarry, the airport and the train tracks all on one little island. It's pretty much a playground.
My only gripe is that a lot of the jumps seem to be custom built for the new buggy, as other cars won't make a lot of them.
I think the extra cars alone might be worth $13.

Re: Burnout Paradise
Well I got the new pathces and like the little changes. I DO NOT like how the Road Rages are now all set at 20 as the limit/record. I liked it alot more at 40. Is there anyway to change this? So now if people are playing the game for the first time, the harder RR are 20 max? Shitty; theres no challege in that.
Ill get this new island when its on sale in some package with the ghostbusters, delorean, etc cars.
Dont you make a damn comment chess

Re: Burnout Paradise
most cars will drift with a minimum of effort, but I guess I'd roll with a Hawker or a GT.
Just tap the brake to get the rear loose, countersteer and find the sweet spot on the gas pedal, and you should be able to drift all day.

I drive nothing but the hawker on stuff like this. I was able to drift over a 1000 in there easy since it is so wide. To me the Hawker is the easiest car to use in the game for stunts. Just give a little boost when you turn in there, break to start your slide and hold down the gas as you slide up the ramp. I found it easy to slide it going up personally.

Re: Burnout Paradise
Spent pretty much the whole weekend on Big Surf. I never really took the game online back when I first got my Elite license (which I finally finished 100% this weekend) and when I did, I tended to get kicked from games for reasons unknown. But now people seem to let me stay in the game and finish the challenges, so now it becomes a task to see if I can complete all 500 of them. Of course now I'm finding out how annoying it is to have 7 people complete a challenge and one person who's just dicking around only to leave the game and cancel the challenge for everyone else.
Also, for some reason, the game doesn't seem to remember that I set the VOIP volume to 0 (I don't have a headset and most of what I hear from others is static or muffled speaking that drowns out my tunes). Actually, it remembers the volume is set to 0, but I still hear static. So every time I start the game up, I have to go into the options, turn the volume up to 1 and then back down to 0 to mute everyone. Does anyone else have that problem? I'm on PS3 btw.
I pulled it off on my first try with the Dust Storm. If you're having trouble drifting, the spiral garage seems like as good a place as any to get the hang of it. What exactly is it that you're having a hard time with on drifting?

Re: Burnout Paradise
To expand on what I said above, I usually just get ear-piercing static or the frustrated grumblings of other players most of the time. It's not exactly constructive or useful feedback when I just want to kick back and do some challenges/events and listen to some tunes. Besides, unless I'm on the opposite side of the city, I'm often one of the first to finish a challenge, so I really don't need anyone else's help.

The 7 and 8 player challenges are very frustrating and that is why I doubt I will complete the 500. You always get the 1 or 2 guys that don't want to help. If you are hosting you can keep kicking people till you get a good group, but by then usually 1 or 2 of those has gotten tired and left.

ah I see. On 360, we can mute individuals so that's how I deal with them.
I actually ended up beating all the 8 player challenges first while hosting. You do have to boot the people not doing it, but eventually you find a good group. The 4, 5, 6 player challenges are a little difficult cause you need to lock the room so no one else can join.

I usually change the volume if the static is too high, extremely loud music or some 9 year old screaming. Other than that, I'll leave it open so if they do say something to me, I can talk or message back.

Re: Burnout Paradise
If you have a headset, I'd recommend just starting your own freeburn and doing challenges. Any time somebody comes in who isn't playing along, boot em. You'll eventually get to 8 guys who are on the same page, and you'll get a bunch of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 challenges done along the way.
Also, take requests for challenges.

Re: Burnout Paradise
I finished up all the jumps, gates and road rules on the island last night, and it was TOTALLY worth the trouble.
