It took them 10 years to put Prey together so I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I've been meaning to check out The Darkness, the fact that Mike Patton does voice work in the game sounds pretty cool as well.

Yeah, I'm skeptical of their "claim" also. But to be fair, the reason Prey took so long was developing an engine, and then starting over from scratch (more than once). For the sequel (with was started before they finished the first one), they already have a solid core engine to build on, which leaves them time to improve on the actual gameplay.

The Darkness did some interesting intergration of the story into the gameplay, for instance with Jenny on the couch. I think they really did an excellent job of immersing you in the environment. But as slop101 mentioned the constant backtracking (with loading) really hurt the pacing. I also think the gunplay and darkness powers could be a little clunky at times.

I thought Kameo was an excellent adventure game. It really does have a lot of variety, you are constantly getting new characters and powers.

A few more games to pick up cheap
Condemned
Gun
Burnout Revenge
Dead Rising
I really enjoyed The Darkness. The demon powers were pretty badass and were the levels that took place in the WW1 hell.

I want to give a shout out to Gun. I loved the game. Yeah, the graphics aren't too great but it's a well done open world Western. Which there aren't many of. The controls were tight, like riding the horse was very easy unlike Oblivion. I liked the hunting side mission. Very fun and a bit challenging too.

I had fun with The Darkness, but there were some issues I hope get resolved in the sequel. Loved Gun, Condemned, and Kameo.

GUN was worth the $5 I spent on it, and not much more.

Alright, I'm posting up a newb question.

I'm always 10 ten steps behind everyone and finally picked up my first console today. The first thing I noticed was that it seems Microsoft decided to put a jet engine in the machine to prevent any further meltdowns. The fan is loud and constant. And when I load a game the decibel level jumps significantly. It sounds like white noise at a moderate listening level.

Are 360's extremely loud?

Swap it out for another one?

I'm coming from PS2 (and older consoles) experience and every single model has been pin drop quiet.

Thanks in advance ...

How strong is the wireless controller signal? I'm going to be putting an equipment rack in a closet on the other side of the wall from the TV, wondering if I'll be able to put the 360 in there (which would be nice so I don't have to listen to it).

It should work. I can take my 360 controller upstairs and I still have a decent signal.

I wouldn't put a 360 in a closet....that's just asking for the RRoD.

Yeah, keep it well ventilated. I think the optical drive is louder than the fan, but maybe thats just my older model.

I highly recommend Condemned: Criminal Origins, as a cheap pick-up because it's a phenomenal game. It still ranks up high on two of my lists: Favourite 360 games and Favourite Horror Games. It's a blast to play at midnight with the lights off.

Support always says they're doing updates when they have no ideas and just want to get you off the phone. They're never really doing updates.

So they basically lie to you so they don't have to actually do their job? Great.

Have you tried on xbox.com instead of through the console?

Try this link (after you sign into your live account) https://live.xbox.com/en-US/accounts...spx?Check=true

Most of the ones I am forced to call just make me wait on hold for a few hours. After that, they're not getting away without giving me a concrete answer or escalating my call.

True, that is the other tactic. I normally don't have to wait too long when i have ever called Msoft but that have pulled the call back later thing before.

Yes. The 360 CSR are the absolute fucking worst I have ever encountered.

Unfortunately they are doing an update on DVDTalk so the PM isn't going through right now. Check back later and see if the PM goes through then.
