Actually, that's a lie. You do get an increase in score for going nuts on the freestyle section. However, the max amount of points to be gained during a freestyle section is to hit each fret button once every 1.5 seconds. Most really good players will just start at green and strum once all the way down. By the time they get to orange, it's about time to start at the top again. Strumming like a madman doesn't net you more points than the method listed, but not hitting anything except for the last notes will net you less points.

Then to restate someone else's question - is there a link somewhere that explains this as fact?

Netflix surveys members on Microsoft Xbox

Tue Mar 25, 2008 10:46am EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Online movie rental company Netflix Inc has surveyed its subscribers to gauge their interest in streaming movies to their televisions using Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360, a Netflix spokesman said on Monday.

Netflix spokesman Steve Swasey declined to say whether the survey indicated a soon-to-be announced partnership between the two companies, but said Netflix was interested in getting its movies to consumers' TVs "in as many ways as possible."

In January, Netflix announced a partnership with LG Electronics to produce a set-top box to stream movies to high definition televisions.

How is that Netflix statement above anything new? I say that more to NetFlix and not to the poster because the information that they have surveyed people has been known for a bit. I guess making an official statement about that fact that they are surveying takes the place of making a statement about implementing the damn thing.

I have no problem with them erasing my gamerscore. I preached that point on my "Confessions of a Gamerscore Whore" blog of years past. Microsoft has needed to address the cheating issue since the inception of achievements and gamerscore. Their continual avoidance of the issue is what turned me off to the achievement system for the past 15 months.

So I'll just happily wait for the ax to drop. Hell, it's not like I couldn't rack up another 100K with the vast assortment of games that exist right now. to a level playing field.

My total score isn't legit. I dabbled in gamesaving until the Fall update of 2006 and summarily outed myself very publicly after the update via a blog about the new security features. It got picked up on Joystiq and Kotaku if I remember correctly.

I haven't touched a save since then, but that doesn't mean my account shouldn't be erased. Personally, I think it should.

This guy lost his 240K points. Great entry from one of his 360voice blogs :

"Strange enough, I don't remember playing any games with StripClubDj yesterday... but our gamerscore which now stands at 247955 did go up. That means somehow we gained 1000 points. Oh well... maybe I overheated and lost my short term memory. So it goes... "

And he has nice 1 day gains for each category :

Largest achievement gain: 7/26/2007 (157)
Largest gamerscore gain: 10/12/2007 (38,455)

Here is to hoping the 360v site also resets all his stats and takes away all his badges.

I don't have a link, but I tested it out on Timmy, et al when I got home. The first time I tried it your way - a single note near the end of the freestyle section + the required notes after = 150 points.

The 2nd time, my way netted me nearly 4k.

Are you sure you remember what you think you remember?

This conversation should totally be going on in the other thread. Is there a mod that can move this over to the Rock Band thread?

Anyways, I looked around and found this thread on rockband.scorehero. I don't know if anything official has been said by Harmonix, but those guys put a lot of time and research into figuring out optimal scoring methods.

360 owners with the HD DVD drive, check out this thread in HD Talk that talks about a $50 gift card from Best Buy if you bought the drive from them.

Thankfully NetFlix has a distribution center near me so the wait times aren't so bad but I still would probably watch a ton via the 360 instead of renting the Blu-Ray version.
