I wish they would bring back the strategic pre-planning stuff from the old-school Rainbow Six games. I really miss that. The Vegas games have more of an "arcade" feel to them compared to the first few Rainbow Six games.

I haven't played yet but I think at this point -ALL- FPS's should have the ability to sprint, take cover, and blind fire. I'm glad this new game added sprint.

And even then, they'll only get a handful of copies, most of which will be snatched up by employees before they even go up on the shelf. So unless you get a raincheck, and wait for another week, you ain't gettin' this at Fry's this week at that price.
I have a Fry's near me, and I'm not going to bother. It's just not worth the hassle of getting there at 5:00 to find out they're sold out already.

I played through the first level and part of the 2nd. So far, so good. The game feels a lot more smooth than the last one. I haven't encountered any slowdown thus far. The AI are still dumb as bricks. I've been playing on Realistic, and I feel it's bit easier thus far than R6V1 on realistic.
I'm a big fan of the COD4 type leveling up system, and especially the fact it's the same in multiplayer and singleplayer. I haven't played the MP yet, but I will tomorrow.

Bad news : My local Circuit City only got 2 copies in today, so I missed out.
Good News : They gave me a $20 GC for my trouble, gave me the fuzzy dice that come with the game promotion, will call me tomorrow when the game does come in (allegedly) and will match Fry's advertised price for me. Bottom line -- I'll get the game tomorrow at CC for $19.99 out of pocket and I still get the free fuzzy dice!

Hit my first pocket of slowdown in the 2nd level. It was pretty much the same that happened in the first game. I think the game plays smoother overall other than these small patches of slowdown, which seem to occur when you enter a flashy room (ie: Casino) with a dozen+ enemies.

So now that several folks here have played it, can anyone answer a question I
had above; can you refuse the giving of the extra exp/bonus if you completed
Rainbow Vegas on realistic or had the online rank of elite? Or is it automatic if
you start a new game with a save on your HDD (offline)/attached to your
gamertag (online)? I picked it up today but will wait to play it until this is
patched (skips the private 1st class achievement) if it's automatic. Thanks
for any info.

It is automatic. I started the game and it said "Welcome back, Wowous" and promoted me. I wouldn't worry too much about it, Ubisoft has said they're going to patch this.

<---- hypocrite.
After vowing to not go to Fry's, I went there looking for a cheap copy of Condemned. No Condemned and no Vegas, either. As I was leaving, I saw about five or six green cases on the counter where the video game workers were stationed. Lo and behold it was a stack of Vegas'. I grabbed one and had to clue in another poor soul who was looking for it, as well.

Press the left shoulder button...
Good game, so far. Very reminiscent of the first. Just doesn't have the "wow" factor like the first Vegas. Guess that's because I've been spoiled by COD4; expected a little more in the graphics and gameplay departments; or a combination of both.
I still love it, though. Just something about those tactical shooters...

I do not get why everyone is like "expected more in graphics" "the graphics sucked" etc. I mean, the graphics in this game are amazing, they are as good as the first, if not better. People said games like CoD had better graphics, I would have to completely disagree considering how cartoony CoD is. The fluent graphics of the Unreal engine has always had me hooked. Also - GREAT game, love it.

The graphic definitely look better than in the first. After playing COD4, I tried to warm up by playing a little R6V1 last week to get ready for the release, the graphics in the game, while amazing in a few places, look awful, especially when you first land in Vegas the cars look like freaking boxes.

I've been playing it and have been enjoying it, but really haven't been paying attention to XPs, Level Ups, etc. Maybe if I play it through on hard I'll pay more attention.
Since I hate dealing with changing weapons, outfits, etc, does anyone have any suggestions on a good SMG and Sniper Rifle that I can use for most of the game? I think that I am about halfway through or a little more.

Hey
I played the first "Vegas" and thought that was simply outstanding. It was my first RS game period. Besides the graphics I felt the game was pretty long and had a good story line to boot. How does the new one stack up in those areas?
Also how does the squad base commands differ from the last one? Easier, better or about the same? Thanks

I am having a bitch of a time trying to get past the drop off section of the Nevada Desert. I think that I know how to do it (very slowly), but it seems like there are a ton of enemies out to get me. I think that I had one last person to get past, and he got me. I played that one part of the game for about an hour, and I didn't get any further.

Just wait...it gets worse. Wait until you get to the refinery.
