I found it pretty ridiculous and impossible to protect him. I was waiting for them to come – they took out my guy who is disarming it right away and I got killed before I could revive him. Fill the room with smoke? Or what?
Spoiler:

Stand in front of the door at the back of the room and take out the 3 or so
waves of enemies that rappel into the room, then walk backwards into the
main section of the room so you can take out the two guys on the balcony
above you before they get you (use a shield if necessary). Your teammate
has a good minute or more for you to heal him before he dies after being shot,
plenty of time to clear the room.

My wife and I beat the game tonight. Gotta say, that pre-final assault was practically
unplayable the slowdown was so bad. The framerate made it near impossible to aim or
even turn to see what was even going on. This was the 360 version, though I assume
it's the same on the PS3. Very disappointing to end on that note.

According to 360voice, it's getting similar play numbers to COD4 daily, about 10,000 each. So that's a lot of people.
Looks like I was right:

R6V2 Ships 2 Million:

Bugs? Hah. Crippled online performance? Whatever. Paying full-price for an expansion pack? You don't give two hoots. Why? Because Ubisoft announced today that they've shipped 2 million copies of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, which when you consider the game's short gestation period and myriad of problems is good news for the company. Not good news for gamers, since it shows Ubisoft can release any old guff and get away with charging $60 for it, but hey, we're not talking about you. We're talking about Ubisoft.

Had no problems with the frame rate at all on the 360 - even the section you're talking about. Played both online co-op and offline SP as well with no issues.

Tried that trick and I kept getting killed (remember, I suck on FPS with controller). Anyway, I succeed that part by toss smoke in the room and managed to survive it.

Now, I got to deal with boss and still can't dodge the helicopter's missiles.

My friend and I played 3/4 of the game together at my place one day and I was astounded at the lack of slowdown on the 360. Until the final battle. I was amazed at how poor it became and it only continued to make me think the single player was not worth replaying. It took us forever to complete that section and I was thrilled to be done with the game totally after that.

Finished it on Realistic last night. The story is lolworthy. It is so bad. This game is a glitch fest. I lost all my ranking a couple of days ago, I was pretty far along too. Now I have to start all over. But the stages are well designed and I love the game so I will keep playing the MP until it gets old.

I've experienced some cringe worthy slowdown on a couple of occasions. I've also encountered a bug that causes one of my teammates to not respond to any of my commands. I use those guys as sacrificial lambs, so it's caused some aggravating deaths.

Whoever designed the refinery level needs to be punished by playing Bubsy 3D for a month straight. I can't even imagine playing that one on Realistic.

Although this post sounds pretty negative, I actually like this game a lot...probably more so than the first and I loved that one.

Hopefully running through it on realistic single player it won't do it, but if you
ever want to see a slideshow try split screen co-op.

Don't like split screen at all (unlike Gears of War), the game is very sluggish in the split screen mode, not very enjoyable at all...

I use the teammate for sacrifices in the beginning, but now, i'm going solo... Addicted to the point system, i want to take out the Tangos all by myself.

If your teammates get stuck for some reason, check if they are around step ladders, boxes etc... some times they can't get around those objects. You must go back to "reroute" them.

One annoying bug i found is that the rifles can stick through walls, very unnatural.

I find the Tangos are dumber in the sequel (a little like a prequel too). I don't see them use the mounted machine guns much, or maybe i choose a better route?

I started playing this game last night. Got through the first level stuck on the next one. Did anyone else think this game was harder than the original? I'm playing on normal and it's nearly one shot and I'm dead.

The team doesn't seem to respond to commands as good as the last game. There are some neat features with it but overall I'm a bit disappointed having recently kicked arse in Call of Duty 4.

Didn't really find either very difficult, even on realistic ...aside from the theatre -
defend the data section of the 1st on the PS3, for some reason every time I
attempt it they destroy the database within 10 seconds. This wasn't the case
on the 360). Are you taking cover? And using the correct weapons for the job?
Did you remember to put armor on your character (I've run into folks online who
hadn't)?

I thought it was easier (on realistic) up until the theater.

I've still never beat the original on Realistic, but I beat this one in about 3 days on it.

That made a pretty significant difference when I customized my character.

Just beat this game over the weekend. I got stuck on the single player level for a while. It doesn't make sense to have the whole game be you and your team, then you get to do a whole level all by yourself. Very frustrating on realistic difficulty.

Much slower pace than COD4, but I enjoyed it.

Wasn't that because your teammates were called over to the events in the 1st Vegas game at that point?

Is that why? I must not have been paying attention.

Yes....they get sent over to help Logan.

Think back to the scene in RBSV1 where as Logan you first land in the Vegas Strip and there are the two RB6 guys waiting for you. They are Bishop's squadmates in RB6V2.

I went through on Medium pretty easily and am maybe 1/4 through on Realistic. On both levels of difficulty, it becomes very apparent that the one thing this game could benefit greatly from is the ability to save at any time.

Most of the checkpoints are ill-placed at best, and it can get insanely annoying to be 9/10 of the way to the next only to get tagged out of nowhere and have to go way, way back. I really can't stand that, but other than that it's an excellent game.

I enjoyed this game all the way until the final "boss" fight. Seriously...they had a good narrative going, then went to this ridiculous boss battle in the end.

Still playing online though.

Do you guys know if there's a way to check your online stats? I'm going for the Terrorist Hunt achievement but I don't know for sure which levels I have completed. Is there a way to check? I couldn't find anything.

In the map selection screen you should see checkmarks next to the completed maps and the level of difficulty in which they were done (casual, normal or realistic)

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot!

Is anyone playing this? I'm really into the multiplayer. It's awesome.

I'm a beast at R6V2, unfortunately I haven't been on in awhile, and with Ninja Gaiden 2 coming out tomorrow, probably won't be on for another month or two. AK-47/G3A3 FTW.

Free DLC -- Always a good thing!
Taken from Gamespot :

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 hit the sales charts like a bullet upon its March release, earning the No. 2 spot on NPD Group's US retail rankings with more than 750,000 copies sold. While the tactical military shooter came in second only to fellow new release Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii, it couldn't keep momentum and fell out of the top 10 entirely in April and May.

Ubisoft hasn't given up on the game yet, as today the publisher announced the release of a free downloadable Fan Pack for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC editions of the game scheduled for July. Included in the pack will be three remixed maps of old: dark versions of Murdertown and CQB Training, and Calypso Casino, a level from the original Rainbow Six Vegas.

Maps aren't the only additions in the Fan Pack. It will also include a game update that adds a new gameplay option called High Stakes, which removes some of the game's more forgiving elements. For instance, High Stakes will disable players' radars, aim assistance, and health regeneration. Ammunition will also be more limited, and moving while shooting has a greater negative impact on accuracy.

Finally, the update includes a variety of balance tweaks, new features like a directional indicator when players are within range of a grenade, more spawning and chat options when hosting a game, and new ranks and A.C.E.S. levels for players who have already maxed out the game's current player prestige limits.
