I just did the hostage side quest and had a tough time, but finally managed to beat it. I was level 9.
Is there a recommended level for each mission? or does the enemy level up according to your level?
Also,
How do you disarm the bomb for the quest on the rogue slot machine on the citadel? Where do you get the code?
I got a quest about a "fan", but can't remember where he is. Where can I find him in the citadel?
Are you referring to the trinket you received from the female alien after helping her with her reputation? What does it do?

I just kept guessing the disarm code. It does take very long to figure out the whole sequence.
The fan is standing at the top of the stairs at the market.
Head to the Hercules system to use the trinket. That's all I will say.

I really don't have the time to get into a game like this at the moment but while looking around GameFly today it was listed as Available Now......so I put it at the top of my queue and it shipped about 2 hours later.
Now I need to get over this cold, put down COD4 and hope that when Super Mario Galaxy comes in I don't get too hooked on it.

Damnit... I put Call of Duty 4 aside so I could play Assassin's Creed, then I put that aside to play Super Mario Galaxy... Now I'm gonna have to put that aside to play Mass Effect.
Then I'm gonna have to put that aside to cook Thanksgiving Dinner!

I'm not gonna lie, I thought that was one of the funniest things I've heard from a game in a while. The character interactions are simply amazing in ME.

So what class did everyone chose? This game is great so far.

I'm a Level 4 Vanguard right now... I'm really enjoying this game, taking it at a slow pace, reading all my Codex entries and trying to talk to as many people as possible.

Kidding.

That should be an interesting conversation. I used my first few level ups to max my conversation attributes. I love intimidating the NPC's into doing what I want.
Muahaha.

So does what missions you do at the first station determine who joins your party? There was one part where I could have talked to one of two people. Talking to the one I did caused a party member to join and the option to talk to the other went away.

Spoiler:
Either way, you can get both members.

Cool. Since I'm doing a Renegade path, I think I'm going to like Wrex. He seems like Mass Effect's version of HK-47.
