Re: Mass Effect
Finally finished it and had a blast. The only irksome bit was that final fight. It was more of a chore than anything else. Otherwise, great game.
And I'm kinda hooked on the end credits song for some reason:

Ah that horrid Mako. It wasn't enough to make me quit but boy did it piss me off.

Re: Mass Effect
Neither ME or ME2 has had a GOTY edition so I wouldn't get my hopes up about seeing one for ME3, but you're right that it will definitely be cheaper by then.

I'm actually playing the first one for the first time. I'm liking it a lot. Already bought the second one in anticipation. By the time I beat ME1, ME2 and Oblivion, I'm hoping both Skyrim and ME3 will be bargain games.

That's the standard selection. There are different "brands" and models you can find or purchase but that's the basic assortment you'll have available at all times.

I looked at a walkthrough and it looks like i'm almost at the end. I just returned to the citadel and
Does this mean i can't do any more side missions? I was hoping to finish them before the final mission but the way the story is going i might not be able to do that now

Re: Mass Effect
Ilos is the point of no return. It's been a while since I completed a full playthrough, but if I recall correctly you should be able to do everything you have remaining before you go there.

And i didn't know The Mako could recharge it's health till halfway through. Probably cause it takes an hour to recharge! They should've let you level up the mako. That would've made the driving sequences a little more enjoyable. But enough bitching about the game.
I just finished my first playthrough. Put in 15 hours and 3 minutes. I had a ton of sides left but was so into the main story i skipped most. Though the Moon side mission was awesome.
I really liked the story and the ending was awesome.
And i ended up banging Ashley! No alien Lovin unfortunately

Re: Mass Effect
I finished this Saturday night. Did all the included side missions and the Bring Down the Sky DLC (because it was only $1). I think my official time on my game save was about 24 hours. Not including all deaths and "do-overs". Pretty good game overall. The Mako stuff pretty much sucked. And the inventory system got annoying. But I liked it. Got a couple hours into the second one and already see a lot of improvements.

Hi, I have a really stupid question for you guys. I just got my first new computer since 2004 and am getting caught up on the games I missed. The only consoles I own are the Wii and DS, so I completely missed the whole DLC thing.
I've been playing Mass Effect and loving it. I downloaded and installed the free Bring Down the Sky DLC. But I don't know where to go to play it. Is it just incorporated into the game itself? On the main menu, there is a DLC link, but it instead goes to the website where they're selling a different DLC for $5.

Near there should be a description of where on the galaxy map you'll find the mission.
Of course you can just browse the galaxy map and stumble on it yourself (which I figured out on my 2nd playthrough). Basically look for an asteroid on the galaxy map. I believe once you highlight the correct one, it identifies it by the dlc title.
As for the other DLC, Pinnacle Station, don't bother. Although the station appears in ME3, the dlc has no story content, from what I've read. Apparently it's just a bunch of timed missions and got really bad reviews.
