I'm finally getting the game tomorrow for the PS3. How hard it the learning cuve for a newbie?

Also, do they sell extra songs on the Playstation store?

Easy is pretty easy. Medium you should be able to do in a week or two. hard is a huge jump.

Extra songs available at the PS3 store yes.

I haven't seen the blank ones at retail, they're all the branded ones for the Les Paul. There's a ton of "Skins" for the Xplorer on eBay and Decalgirl.com. If you take it apart, and you want the face painted, I could do it.

Everytime I see you on playing GH3 I think "I should fire it up and play some" but after seeing those videos, you can forget it - you'll shred me in VS or CoOp. :P

I just had a go at Raining Blood with the camera running. I included the strum bar into the picture but doing so I had to stand up, and I had to kinda crouch to fit into the picture. I can't play this song very well standing up to begin with. In other words, I'm making sure I have plenty of excuses as to why I mess up so much.

Edit: While I was waiting for the video to render, I had a breakthrough with Mosh1. I think I'll hold off on posting the vid until I 100% that section.

700K is easily attainable with Number of the Beast, I was able to get that with my wife playing easy bass.

I'm a light user, nowhere near a basher, and my guitar (ps3) has already broken ... it doesn't recognize a downward strum. Since I bought when the game first came out and the warranty is so short ... am I SOL?

Raining Blood is MURDERING me on medium. FUCK! I've never had this much trouble with a GH song.

I gave up on it. It's still the last song for me to complete on HARD. And I'm stuck on Holiday in Cambodia on EXPERT. I just can't find a rhythm with up and down strumming.

Ya I skipped it as well. When I get to a point in GH where I can't even pass a song (on medium), I usually just move on to the next game.

Well folks my brain is starting to wire itself for hard. The note chart is starting to slow down for me and my left hand is finding a comfort in moving from 1st to 2nd position and I'm starting to anticipate better when to do that. Tonight, I hit 90% and 4* on Cult of Personality Hard, something that I never thought possible a month ago.

Expert thought is kicking my ass. I decided to just have fun with the game, try to 5* all Medium and then 4* all hard.

Feels like when I was learning real guitar and things just started to make more sense to me as I kept playing.

Love this game again. EA better get your ass on sending me a new RB controller or else!!

Good luck 5 starring Thru the Fire and Flames and Raining Blood on even Medium. I was lucky to get out of their with 3 stars on those.

I finally bought the Foo Fighters pack on Friday after having some points burning a hole in my pocket. I had held off from buying them because of the poor reviews. I really enjoyed them though. Well, actually two of them were fun to play and one was a bitch (played them on Medium) but I thought peoples review seemed rather harsh.

I got 5 star on Med on Raining Blood, but I cant five star, One, Knights of Cedonia nor Number of the beast for some reason... I am not even gonna talk about TFAF

FINALLY!

I managed to 5* Raining Blood on Medium. My last 5* to get on that difficulty. I just barely scraped by with 125,473. 125k is the cutoff. So I nabbed the achievement. Yea! No more Raining Blood... ever!

Anyone that's still trying, I used a star path of 2-2-2. I think there are 7 sets total, but I basically activated as soon as I could each time.

Aw, c'mon. You know you want to five star it on Hard!

Really though, I tip my hat to anyone who can 5 star Raining Blood even on Medium. That had to be tough as hell. Bet you were sweating it getting near the end.

How did you learn of the point cut-off? I always wondered if the "Star" system was based on points or accuracy but never looked it up.

I'm guessing.

I've scored, 120k, 123k, 124k and only managed 4* and the now famous 125k which gave me the achievement. My accuracy was the same throughout each try. Basically I would screw up in the same spots every time, so that's why assume it is all based on score.

As for Hard, I've managed to make it to tier 7 (Live in Japan) and that's where I'm going to fold. I've tried all 5 songs numerous times and fail amazingly fast. That's the tier with Disturbed, QotSA, Slipknot, Muse and Living Colour. So Hard isn't happening.

4* those songs are no problem for me on Medium. I might have 5* TFATF on Medium if not for sheer exhaustion.

Maybe it's because I play on PS3, but I thought your star rating was based on your multiplier, not your score.
