Nine-year-old (beberle2 on Scorehero) getting 754k on Through the Fire and Flames.

Thanks to some Thanksgiving family time I managed to go through co-op mode on Easy and today I finished 5-starring medium. (I had to play bass using the controller. It's hard to feel quite as cool when you're rocking out on a Wiimote.) I'm glad I can finally play Sabotage and Suck My Kiss. I'm starting to work my way through hard now. I think I've finished six songs, and just barely got through most of them. I'm still having fun with it, though.

Is there any advantage between the Wii version of GH III and the older Xbox 360 GH II (Circuit City had them on sale for $60) beside price, I think I'd rather do the wireless via the wiimote version of GH III. Seems like the other wireless GH III guitar is a little more problematic than the Wii version.

He's good but there was some poor star power management. He missed the notes right before activating star power a few times. I give him a C+. He's got the talent but he's just not clutch.

If he's truly playing, he may have some skills, but he's pretty damn cocky for a little kid. There was another video someone posted, a while back, of him playing a song. At one point he turns his back while playing and has this look on his face like "yeah, I am awesome"

You can use the Xplorer for Rock Band (as it's not out for the Wii), that's about it.

I think you're right. That's the same kid who played Psychobilly Freakout on GHII. Sure looks like he was playing too me. I little cocky but, very talented. I'd probably act that way, a little bit, if I got a score like that.

And what's your high score? According to mygamercard.net, I only see a handful of people that even have the 750,000pt achievement. Granted, that's only on 360, but that seems to be the format of choice for most now.

If you were being sarcastic, then my sarcasm-meter must be broken.

In the DC area, about the only bundles anyone has are the 360 bundles. Took me 7 stores last night to find a WII bundle for my brother, and I must have seen 100 360 bundles, easy at local stores. One BB might have had 50 themselves.

Watch out for the mono sound in the Wii version. Come on Activision, this game is based on music, at least give me stereo!

I think you're referring to him turning his back while playing Psychobilly Freakout. He's actually doing that not to be cocky, but so he doesn't screw up what he's playing. After watching him I tried it and began being able to not screw up during those parents. I close my eyes or look to the side so if I do screw up I don't have to turn back around

Yep, I did that too for Psychobilly Facef**k and also do that in Before I Forget (up until they trip you up with those crazy trills). Except I don't close my eyes, I look at my left hand.

That was the song I was thinking of. I guess it makes sense that was the reason. I guess I was looking at his facial expression while he did it and it just seemed cocky to me. But as I said, I can buy that he did it to not mess up the song.
Still, the kid does look like he has some serious skills. I can't even 5* PF on medium and would never be able to do so on Hard or Expert. Heck, that Through the Fire and Flames song gave me enough trouble on medium in GH3.

So what are the chances that, given all the issues that PS2 to PS3 guitar conversion problems people are having, they start to make GH and GHII packs available for d/l from the PS Store?

None. GH & GHII were on the original engine by Harmonix. GHIII is a completely new engine developed by neversoft.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that. A note chart is a note chart. I've seen plenty of hacked note charts for the previous versions of GH.

Yeah, but Harmonix has said they own the licenses to the songs from GHI and GHII. So, if Activision wants to put out those songs for GHIII, they are going to have to re-license them, and probably re-record any covers, as well as make the note charts. I don't doubt, at some point they might put out some songs that were on the first 2, but I don't think you'll see all the previous GH tracks for download.

I see now. Well, how about the reverse, GH1 and GH2 songs for Rock Band?

Well, so far they haven't announced any packs of just old GH songs for Rock Band. They did just release the Police's Synchronicity II, which is a master recording this time. They also announced War Pigs in the Black Sabbath pack that is coming soon. That one is a cover again. Both were in previous Guitar Hero games, so maybe we'll see more. There are plenty of songs from the first two games I'd love in Rock Band.

I read about the mono situation, WTF? I still almost bought the last Wii GHIII bundle at Best Buy during lunch, but decided to pass on it for now.

Yeah, I'd have no issues buying GH 1 and 2 songs for RB. GnR pack with Sweet Child...

I finally broke down and just bought another copy of the bundle for the guitar. With the game going for $40 or so on eBay, I figured $60 for a first party controller wasn't so bad.

I've seen at least one site listing them as sometime in January...
