Just be smart about it - if the game you are playing has a static image that never leaves the screen, even when pausing or going between menus and the game (not many are like this, in my experience, but Madden was this year), just switch input sources once in a while.

Are you set on the 77U? From what I read, the 75U has a VERY slightly better picture, and unless you are in a really bright room with tons of sunlight or lighting, you aren't going to notice any reflections on the 75U. Plus the 75U is generally a bit cheaper.

My main area is pretty bright during the day but not so much at night. I have checked both the 75 and 77 and the Anti Glare actually works, it's quite nice. I like the idea of the speakers on the side also.

I ordered Rainbow Six: Vegas (Limited Edition) for $19.99 and 300 (2 Discs) $6.99 for $25.98 shipped. Very good deal :)

I don't recall there being an LE of R6:Vegas. What's limited about it?

tonyc3742 11-25-07 02:32 PM

Not sure why it's LE, it probably translates more to an SE.
From the amazon product info page:

* Mockumentary – In the same vein the popular television show “The Office,” we will have a mockumentary built around in office interviews of fictional developers for Rainbow Six Vegas.
* Rainbow Six Retrospective – Using footage from past RS titles, we will produce a 5-8 minute feature showcasing the evolution of the series.
* Making Of – Include a single polished movie around the making of the game.

I ordered it too, along with the ESA game pack.

Similar to Myspace/Facebook, the Dec. 4th fall update will include the ability to view the friend's lists of others. There are privacy settings as well. Read more here: http://www.videogametalk.com/news.php

Canis Firebrand 11-26-07 11:50 AM

Interesting feature, but they should have the default be set to either No one or Friends only. The current setting, if you don't change it, is everyone.

Liver&Onions 11-26-07 12:45 PM

Meh - with facebook you can see who the friend is because it uses real names I really won't know who the hell Xx_assface_xX1189 is - so even if it was a friend from high school who I wanted to get in touch with, I'd have no clue.

 Nice touch including the 1189.

What is up with the Elite and why is it showing unavailable at every major retailer?

A lot were sold during black Friday. I was going to pick one up tonight and I've run into the same thing you've noticed.

I was trying to pick one up for my brother and nothing anywhere. To add to it, the hoarders are charging 700 dollars for it on amazon.

Jeremy517 11-27-07 02:26 AM

Wow. Amazon has Halo 3 Legendary Edition for $59.99 today. If anyone still wants it, now is the time to get it.

Picked it up. Can't beat that price, and I can put the helmet on my cat.

I went out last night looking for it and everyone said they were sold out, and were sold out up to a week before Black Friday.

I already have one (still haven't played it), but almost can't resist buying a second (for my eventual 2nd 360 for network gaming).

RichC2 11-27-07 10:55 AM

I know it isn't the most popular of choices out there, but I just figured I'd throw in my two cents on Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action.

Paid $60 for it on Thanksgiving to keep the family entertained just in case Rock Band didn't go over too swiftly. Was hesitant at first, but when you get right down to it -- the standalone version of Scene It costs nearly $40 as is, so an extra $20 for 1800 "tracked" questions and 4 remotes didn't seem like a horrible deal.

Well, during our Rock Band breaks (it went over really, really well) we wound up busting out Scene It for a few rounds. The game is an absolute blast. The movie clips, questions, and overall setup of the game is great. I had a grin on my face when they had the "Child's Play" pic of Pan's Labyrinth as it was nice seeing that movie thrown into the mix and was surprised at just how current the question set was (there are questions concerning Meet the Robinsons and Fred Claus -- though title only for Fred). It's one of those games that seems short but does eat up a good chunk of time, and we wound up playing repeated rounds, the game has a nice competitive streak to it, especially with the borderline idiotic final questions (w/ multipliers). There is a great deal of variety to both the movies and questions/question types and all are generally a good deal of fun.

The clips introduced me to a few movies I haven't seen and some I haven't seen in a long time, and are not relegated to family friendly clips. (And made me really want to watch Trading Places and Bourne Supremacy again.)

If there's a downside, the announcer is kind of annoying but only has a few lines to say per game. The other complaint being the controllers use their own USB adapater and as such are IR-based, meaning you have to be pointing at it, but it's a mild complaint and once everyone knows where to aim it isn't an issue.

I hope they release question packs for this in the future as DLC as I don't see them taking up too much space (unless they add new movie clips). And I hope it does well enough to get a few more trivia games out there, I'm still crossing my fingers for a You Don't Know Jack revival.

Oh and the question tracker works fairly well, I've had a handful of repeats (maybe 10) in the course of 12 games.

Canis Firebrand 11-27-07 11:29 AM

Those are similar to my thoughts on Scene It.

I really enjoyed the game and hope that they do come out with DLC in the future to extend the life of the game. It is a great party game that will get gamers and non-gamers alike into it and have fun.

That would truly be awesome. You don't know jack was a great game series :)

Canis Firebrand 11-27-07 12:40 PM

I would love that coming to the 360 either as a full title or XBLA version.
I loved all of the Jack games and even had a blast with the online one. Sadly the servers are not up any more and some of the games won't run on XP. They released a 6th game and updated a couple of others to run on xp. Sadly, you have to buy them all again.

The humor and questions were really top notch in the the YDKJ series.

RichC2 11-27-07 12:42 PM

Agreed. Screwing your neighbor never felt so good.

Actually, I take that back.

Holy Shit! Nfl 2k5!

After this update, all I'm really hoping for now is Midtown Madness 3.

kakihara1 11-27-07 01:53 PM

Sweet!! I just played NFL 2K5 with my brother this past Friday and he was all bitching and moaning that we had to move to the spare TV to play it

fumanstan 11-27-07 01:58 PM

How funny is it that all of a sudden Microsoft's backwards compatibility and occasional updates is more appealing then having to worry about a Playstation 3 model that has it in either hardware, software, or not at all :p

Jesus Christ. Still no PoP 2 or 3? -ohbfrank-

Or Riddick or Top Spin. Can't have you playing old versions when there is money to be made on shiny new ones.

With the download service around the bend, it's beneficial to them that they keep these updates coming so that they can be offered through the new service.

Yancey 11-27-07 04:22 PM

Rich, thanks for the thoughts on Scene It. I was going to start a thread on it the other day. I've been close to getting it for my gf and I (she's a Luminees player but not much else), but was worried all of the questions would be <i>too</i> mainstream/contemporary. This based on the back cover, which features <i>Night at the Museum</i> and some animated films. Are there many questions on film history, or anything more nerdy along those lines?

Flay 11-27-07 04:31 PM

A couple more Fall Update goodies:

- XBLA demos deleted from "Played Games" and Gamercard lists

- "Personal Profile" added to Gamer Profile; text field allowing approx. 500-1000 characters, providing space to publish name, nationality, region, and self introduction. (Further social networking tools to accompany 'Friends of Friends' functionality)

xmiyux 11-27-07 04:54 PM

Speaking of Riddick, has anyone heard any new news on the re-make of Butcher Bay that was supposed to be out for the 360 this Fall/Winter. I was really looking forward to the game.

slop101 11-27-07 05:25 PM

Dammit!! Still no Otogi - WTF!

Pushed to next year.

Here's the official site, although there's nothing there yet.

Spiderbite 11-27-07 06:25 PM

Quick question...if you delete a saved game file off your hard drive, does that delete your achievements that you have earned as well?

Say I finish COD2 and sell it. Do I have to keep the old game save on my HD to keep those achievements and gamerscore points? Anyone trued this first-hand?

Your achievements will still be there, they are tied to your gamer tag. You can erase your game save.

Got my copy today and this is my third dance with Vegas. I originally bought it when it first came out and hated the Mexico levels, so much so that I got rid of it before even making it to Vegas. I tried it again a couple of months later using Gamefly and kicked myself for getting rid of it in the first place. Can't wait to go through it again!

Yeah, the early Mexico levels annoyed me to hell. Especially the one where you have to go it alone. I must have died at least 100 times before I beat it. The rest of the game seemed easy compared to it.

84 Xbox games have been added to the compatability list for the 360.Im new to this so dunno how it works but im glad to see ESPN nfl2k5 on there.

I love RS6:Vegas but I HATE team based games that seem to think separating you from you full team, with limited weapons, is fun and I swear they all seem to do it.
